Ok, here's my take on the playoffs and the discussion:

1. There are 4 games to win before CPA or Alcoa can worry about each other. Funny things happen in football. CPA had a very tough game against LC last year and, IMO, they are as good, but not better, than last year.

2. Last year, despite what the Goons post, no CPA fan trashtalked Alcoa or beat their chest prior to the game. Some did predict a CPA win as did other non-CPA fans, but predictions are part of the game.

3. Alcoa was definitely the best team in 3A last year and proved it against CPA, who was the 2nd best team.

4. The championship game, in good weather, would have been different - maybe a bigger win by Alcoa - maybe a closer game, or even a win by CPA. Alcoa was definitely a better team in weather that turned the game one-dimensional, and will be again this year. CPA, in great weather, would have had a tough time beating Alcoa last year, but the game, IMO, would have been closer. Alcoa rode Tyson (a great back), chewed clock, and CPA could not run their offense with the weather the way it was. The penalty on Alcoa's kick out of the end zone that gave Alcoa a first down turned the game.

5. Again, let me repeat, Alcoa was the better team last year and deserved to win despite the conditions. However, the weather played a factor in how the game played out.

6. If CPA is fortunate to play Alcoa again this year, it will be a daunting task, but a privilege. To be the best, you have to beat the best. CPA understands that.

    • Tough situation.  Not sure the ROI is there right now.   Might be better options that are cheaper.
    • Yeah summer ball is really fun, but a lot of coaches are trying to play several kids to get much needed reps that they are not accustomed to. I would imagine Gibson County will have lots of players playing to get much needed reps. Want to win games but got to get experience as well and the rotation will be much deeper. I will be at MTSU, UTM Bethel and others. MTSU is the one I really look forward to.
    • So who are the new additions to the staff? Serious answers only please.
    • Its always interested to see the state teams the following summer after losing or not losing seniors and getting freshman and transfers. It's almost time.
    • Maryville has Alcoa on the schedule at the right time of the season which helped last year instead of at the first of the year not knowing much. West will be hard pressed to repeat this year but next will be a different story.
