  1. If CW is even 75%, then the Spartans take this one. Saw him come in the other night and lead them past central. impressive!
  2. Well, Mr Gridiron I'm from Memphis and don't know anything bout Columbia or Powell. But I know plenty of the likes of Henry County. Momentum not gonna do it against them. And from what we hear down this way is that they line is much better than in years past. Sounds like you are underestimate them, just like melrose did back in the days they were tops. One of my teams ridgeway is gonna get they taste soon enough. If you can't play Baylor any better than you did, you be in for a long night. They won't give you 5 or 7 turnovers. But good luck. Got finish the rest of season first!
  3. Well, I think this is the game i going to. My team (Ridgeway) was on the ropes this year. But all in all I just a big memphis football fan. Thought about going up to paris to see Melrose play, but Millington is much closer and should be just as good of a game if not better. Will be pulling for the spartans. good luck to both teams!
  4. Its nearly fball time again! How have some of the schools in 4A going to be doing? Is Melrose going to be stronger this year?
  5. Lady, that was a pitiful display of sportsmanship. I am from Memphis and seen a lot of "bad sports" when losing, but this takes the cake! I have been keeping up with Henry County since the first game when yall played Ridgeway, the team I support. I dont remember reading where people were worshiping #1, but maybe you saw it. After reading your first post, I thought it was sad that you (supposedly an adult) pointed out a kids mistakes. But now reading this piece of work, you need some help. I am sure that most Henry County fans are not like you, and its a good thing. Otherwise people would not want to set foot in such a pathetic place! Shame on you Mom!
  6. TC, I think you misunderstand me. I am not HC or rooting for them. I am an old hand from Memphis who loves football. Ridgeway my team. All I have to go by is what is written on these boards, stats and scores. I was pulling for East and will be pulling for Melrose this week. I want to see as many Memphis area teams in the bowl as possible! Before the game last week, I didn't think that East would be able to pull one out against Henry. They are a tough discipline team. East is young and trying to get it together with a first year coach and a rough start. Sounds like you gave them a run for their money. In my opinion, I just don't think that East was as good as Henry. Next year may be different, I think East will be a power in Memphis next year.
  7. Come on TC! I was not even at the game and I know this isn't true. HC was good against Ridgeway in the first game. I am thinking they improved through the year as did East. But remember East is a young team that has its years ahead of them. I've seen Melrose and I think HC has a shot at bringing them down. But they will have to play good, real good.
  8. This will be a great game. I am rhs through and through so I pulling for Ridgeway. But Wooddale is good. I just don't think that they defense can stop Crawford. Also, our D is proving to be just as good as advertised.
  9. TC, I am from Memphis area and have seen many of these teams play. I agree with much of what you say. But that comment about NOT being impressed at all with HC is nearly laughable. Don't get me wrong, I would love to see a Memphis team reach the boro from both 5A and 4A. But it won't be East. I can tell you that Ridgeway and probably most of its fan base WAS impressed with Henry County. Hard for me to believe that they have a 6-4 record, but they probably did make some key mistakes to lose the other 3 games. To date, they are probably the single most physical team the Ridgeway played all year. East could beat them, but it is unlikely if HC is playing well. They have plenty of atheletes to match what East will bring. I am unimpressed with Melrose this year and impressed with Munford and Fairley this year. I think that either HC or Fairley will come out of these two regions for the quarters.
  10. If Ridgeway defense can keep playing like it has, and Crawford can churn up some yardage, they will be tough to beat. We have not scored as much since QB went down, but we have been able to make it work. Again, the defense is key. Not to look to far ahead, but we should be meeting someone like Franklin or Dickson County in the near future...
  11. Well, I guess it time for me to put in a few comments from the Memphis area. I am still waiting for TraderB to comment! I just like that there is talk about Memphis football from more than just one or two teams. But here how I see it. East football is improved from the beginning of the year, but not a serious contender due to many mistakes in most games. TC, I know you want them to pull it out, and they will play hard, but not happening this year. Melrose is kind of lackluster except for their strong defense. They are beatable, I just wish Ridgeway had a shot at them this year! Fairley is MUCH improved over last year. Maybe even better than Melrose, so whoever gets them should be prepared for some game. The pharohs are not good, they have some talent but can't put a game together. From 7-4A, Munford is a sleeper team. Can't let them hang around or they beat you. Solid team. Henry County is one of the best teams in West Tennessee are underrated due to its unimpressive record. When playing on all cylinders, I think they can beat any team out of West Tennessee. The question is can they play on all cylinders through the playoffs. Brighton is a solid team but not enough so to make a rumble. JCM is very talented yet not solid team. If I has to make a call to the final two teams coming out of these two regions, I would probably say that Henry County will play Fairley to go to the quarter finals.
  12. TraderB, I am new to posting on this site but have been a reader for years and am from the Memphis area. Do you really think that Ridgeway can't compete with Melrose?!?!? I disagree. Possibly since the QB is out, the advantage would be to Melrose. But aside from that, Ridgeway has the discipline to beat Melrose this year IMO. A full game would likely go in favor of the Roadrunners. And as for HC, Melrose better look out and not think of them as "no problem." I seen them and they are for real. I would not want to see Ridgeway play them again! They have more weapons than first meets the eye. If Melrose will get there heads out of their tails then they should beat Fairley by 30 as their record is over inflated. Anyway, that's how I see it. I Enjoy reading your posts throughout the Memphis region. Thanks!
  13. There were some stats on the site today about McNairl from the Jackson Sun. Here they are: Player of the Year: Calvin McNairl, Henry County, Sr. - Accounted for 1,278 yards and 12 touchdowns. Passed for 714 yards and eight touchdowns and rushed for 564 yards and four touchdowns. Looks like this kid is going places! Seen Munford play recently and HC early in the season. HC should take this one by 3 scores.
  14. HC is a great team, better than I first thought. Seen Brighton, decent team but not as good as HC. HC in this one: 28-17
