  1. You may be right Billy Joe or is this Billy Joe's Dad?
  2. My point exactly. I was merely saying that we need more than just Ramsey to play well. Defeating Upperman on their floor will be tough but very possible. My point about Dunn is that he is the quarterback of it all. Whether you believe in the post game, run and gun, or 3 pointers, to me it takes a little of all to be successful. But as you say love, that's just my opinion.
  3. Hey general sure didn't mean to strike a nerve. Your knowledge of the game is very impressive. I didn't realize until I read your post what all a good post game could do. I was merely making the point that to defeat a good basketball team like an Upperman you need solid efforts from people like Stover,West,Everley,McCleran, etc. It's not just Ramsey who needs to have a good game. All the players can contribute to blocking shots, getting offensive rebounds, and getting the other team in foul trouble. I would guess Dunn leads the team in free throw attempts and I'd say he hasn't been fouled by a guard everytime. So, 'General' thanks for the insight on the post game. As far as your posts, you are a regular in LA topics so it doesn't a lot 'keeping up' to read your posts.
  4. General, I was wondering if you are related to the Ramsey boy? Seems like every time there is a question on here about LA winning a crucial game, you always say things about the key to winning will be something Ramsey needs to do. I thought the key to this LA team was Dunn. Just curious.
  5. I have read a lot posts on coach t about how elementary school sports are not about winning and losing. It is supposed to prepare each kid for the next level. Too much emphasis is put on winning rather teaching the sport to the child. My question is this: What about the kids who don't play in high school? Is it fair to them for the coach not to worry about W's and L's? Not all kids are blessed enough to be able to play at the high school level. So, I would think the ones who don't play a particular sport in high school could look back on their elementary memories more favorable if they played on a winning team. I would also like for someone to define the term "playing as a team." If you have a player averaging 20 points per game and another one averaging 17 or 18, but the team's record happens to be 20-5, are they not playing as a team? Every team, especially your good teams, have their go to people. If you don't have every player taking an equal number of shots in a game then are you guilty of not playing as a team? I guess it goes back to how much emphasis is put on winning.
  6. Who are some of the better post players in Tennessee? Are the good SR. post players already committed? Are there any really good ones in the JR and Soph classes?
  7. I thought this was a middle school board.
  8. From what little I've seen and heard of LA, it seems most of the time it's in Dunn's hands as to how successful the Cats are. I think he averages bout 20 a game. Looks like he's the big gun.
  9. Is it definite that Maynord is no longer in the running? Did he even interview?
  10. Occasionally, all KIDS will put up ill-advised shots. But as basketball teams go, every team needs a straw to stir the drink and believe me Dunn is the straw. He may be a spoke in the wheel, but he is the biggest spoke. Do you people think MJ didn't do what he had to for his team to win. And correct me if I'm wrong that was to shoot the ball. Dunn, like a lot of other scorers, may take some bad shots but when the money is on the line he's the man I would like to see taking the key shot.
  11. I can only speak about teams from the Upper Cumberland so I would say Cornerstone. With Jackson Co. and probably Allons as close seconds.
  12. I heard Avery Trace combined their 2 teams. Is this true? Is that legal. Looks as if it didn't matter anyway. Big games from anybody?
  13. To my knowledge, Coach McCoin was not run off. If he was told he was going to be fired, just exactly who told him that? You make the statement why hasn't the "other side" gotten on here and told their story, who is the other side? Furthermore, I always thought problems were supposed to be dealt with face to face, not on Coach T. I respect Coach McCoin and his abilities, but matters can be handled better than getting on Coach T and throwing barbs at each other.
  14. I feel for Coach McCoin. He's a really fine guy and I wish him the best. As far as his son goes, he is a good young player, but calling him the FUTURE of LA is pretty strong words. He has plenty of other talented teammates in his class as well as the class ahead of him. I think the frosh and soph class as a whole should be considered the future. As far as the elementary players who are coming in, I'm really not familiar enough with those kids to say what contributions they might be able to make to the program. I do understand they had a pretty good year 6 or 7 wins and i think 3 losses. But, good luck to the whole LA program and you Coach Mc.
  15. I am not a plus member, so I guess I'm actually posting out of place but I was wondering if anyone could tell me what the schedule of games for Thursday night, Nov.2, are? I would really appreciate it.
