Have not seen much of them; I did see that one game they played on espn this year. From what I seen I do agree though, their coach seemed to be a classy guy who runs a classy program. As people can probably tell I am not big on high schools that recruit athletes, not sure if Byrnes recruits or not but the way things are going these days I wouldnt doubt it.

For all who has not figured it out yet; this guy is completely incorrect regarding his assessment. I am a Springfield guy and hopefully will be coaching there at some point.

I really dont care about records or who is the underdog; I have seen both team play and I do not believe that HC matches up very well with Hillsboro. Hillsboro has a great defense and they can run or pass very well. I dont think that HC will be able to stop their passing attack and maybe not even their running game (even though they are good against the run). I am not pulling for either side, this is just how I see it. Hillsboro by 2 TDs if not more.

Hoover recruits like a college program so lets not all chalk it up to coaching skills. Yeah I watched that silly show and how the honorable Coach Propst used it to show his butt. It was classy on that one episode where he referred to himself as the key to them getting scholarships and how he would demolish their chances if they didnt play better in the 2nd half. Very classy huh...............

I dont apreciate being called stupid 1st of all; not the guy I am quoting but ithzme. The next thing is that it was like in 1994 and it was in broshure form. The kid showed me the thing, you are right though he is a "seasoned" recruiter.....

Over the last several years Hillsboro has been to the finals more than anyone on this side of the brackets and are the only team in 4A besides Maryville to win a title. Mellrose has made it 2 or 3 times but could not beat Maryville any of the times. This Hillsboro team is every bit as athletic as any of them the last several years. The difference w/ this team is that they are not 1 dimensional at all which makes them very dangerous. They have a very good athletic defense as well. I commend everything that HC has done this year I just dont believe that they match up very well w/ Hillsboro. I am not pulling for either side, this is just how I see it.

I would love to go back in the past and watch some of their match-ups.....

A team with this kind of fire power in 1A should still be playing; no matter how good their defense is.....

RB without a doubt; he would be short for a QB in college. Unless you have a arm like Doug Flutie you gotta be tall. I believe the only reason MP has him at QB is b/c he is their best athlete and they want him to touch the ball every play. The option is much more successful in highschool than in college.

I think there should be an age requirement to post.....

I am not on either side of the fence for this one my man; I am a Springfield guy and I wish we were talking about them against HC instead. I was in Paris this past Friday b/c my gf lives there and I was scouting for Clarksville High for a freind of mine who coaches there. HC has a lot better team than I gave them credit for but as one guy stated their passing defense is really suspect. Fairley dropped a ton of balls not to mention the ones that their QB just missed. Hillsboro's QB wont miss and they have a very good RB to go along with their very good passing game. On top of that they do have a really good defense. As far as them looking past HC to Maryville goes; I believe the wake-up call they got from Mt. Juliet in the 2nd round will prevent that. But hey guys this is football and no matter what any of us say the only thing that matters is what happens on that field Friday night. I just say good luck to both teams and congrats on a great season. Win or lose.......neither team will have anything to hold their heads down about.

Sorry I have to respectfully dissagree; they are 13-0 for a reason. No doubt HC is alot better than their record indicates but I believe that Hillsboro is clearly better than them. I say Burros by 2 TDs if not more; not knocking HC at all, the Burros just have more fire power than HC and they are much more versitile than they have been in the last serveral years (this should really help against Maryville).

Quit acting like a moron; JB played a great game considering how out-matced talent wise they were. Good games goes out to MP but to be totally honest, with the ahtletes they have they underachieved somewhat. They have the athletes to win it all but it will take a better effort than this to beat Friendship Christian. Good luck to MP though I will be pulling for you guys.

Yeah alot of people can coach the talent he had to work with; or should I say the talent he acquired. Coach Boyce Smith had the success he had with hand he was dealt. I am not trying to knock you are even Coach Flatt just saying that how can you really tell how he would have done in a traditional high school format.

Yeah.......everybody knows he recruits; sorry man, you cant compare him b/c he was not on a level playing field for the majority of his career.

I want to say Boyce Smith but I am from Springfield and cant without any bias. I am part of the "Carroll family" who played at Springfield. Anyone who knows Springfield football history knows the significance of that. Springfiled football is near and dear to my heart. Boyce Smith coach many of my relatives including my dad and he was a football icon. I am not saying he is the best ever in TN, but I will say without hesitation, he is among the best ever in TN.

Yeah BA has a "transfer" from Georgia and one from Texas this year and they both happen to be super football players.....whatever hero. We all know that Flatt has recruited and he still does, no body here is that dumb so just humor us. I was in my coaches office after one of our players had brought him a letter trying to get him to go to BA; our coach called Flatt and chewed him out. Coach Tucker and Coach Boyce Smith both coached great teams for alot of years and did it with the hand they were dealt. Flatt turned down the offer to coach the Nashville Cats; I guess since all the teams had the same scouting and recruiting methods as him he wouldnt have the advantage he is used to so he didnt want any part of it.

Too bad he doesnt play for a private school huh........ Is Tate even Catholic.......I wonder

Athletic ability and talent may not be exactly the same thing, but it is pretty darn close. MP does have the most athletic ability of the remaining teams in 1A. They had much better athletes than JB last year when they lost by 1 as well. So much so if you combined MP and JB last year, the only JB player who would start would have been the JB qb Clay Head. JB makes up for lack of athletes with great coaching and great kids who really get after it. I do believe that JB is more athletic this year then they were last year though. I will be pulling for JB from Springfield but I just dont know if they will be able to contend with the speed that MP has. One more thing JB has 4 shutouts and have held their opponents to less than a TD scoring average per game so whoever said they had no defense, you are wrong. Good luck JB, the Yellow Jackets are pullin for you.
