  1. On the TSSAA web site their not in region six, they are in region 8 http://www.tssaa.org/Classifications/report.cfm they are region 6 as far as individual goes.
  2. at 171, Manuel Garcia of McGavock dec. Rakim Talley of Dickson Co. 4-3 last night.
  3. Can anybody provide some clarification on the 135 2rd place match between Hayden Jordan and Turbo Smith. It went into multiple overtimes and eventually when the dust settled Jordon had won the match by a point, had his hand raised and all was done. At this point I went to the other side of the gym, then looked back and the match had been re-started. Any answers as to what exactly happened for them to re-start the match?
  4. It is not up to the coach wether or not they can attend a tournament during incliment weather. My school was supposed to attend the Ravenwood tournament but our principal canceled all sports for the weekend due to the snow. I fail to see how you placing blame on coaches for not showing to a tournament accomplishes anything, especially since it is not their call to make.
  5. I nominate Kenny Meredith from Blackman a few years back. 2005 state champ at 189.
  6. I'm pretty sure it's in the rule book, if school is out the day before a competition due to incliment weather, there is a 1 pound allowance.
  7. due to the weather, McGavock's principal has canceled all sports participation this weekend, therefor McGavock will not be competing in the tournament.
  8. The 160 final won best match honors. Smyrna was a no show today. anybody know why?
  9. at 160, Everett Colbert beat Kyle Saunders this past weekend at the McGavock tournament 11-10. and at 171, Manuel Garcia beat Blake Biggs 3-2. also at the McGavock tournament.
  10. at the very start of the match, Carlos got hit with an accidental headbutt to the chin and it knocked him out. he was out for maybe 3 seconds but we were not about to put his health at risk so the match was forfeited. He is fine. a little bit angry that we didn't let him wrestle, but he's fine. He's gonna be cleared by a doctor before we let him wrestle again tho. results off the top of my head. Team scores, Arab 1st, Mt Juliet 2nd, McGavock 3rd. 103 ????? 112 Bates of Mt.J 1st 125 Arab. Jarod something took 1st. the kid is an animal. defending AL state champ I believe. 130 Beech, can't think of the kids name. over Garcia McG INJ Def. 135 and 140 I missed these. not sure which weight he is, but the moppy haired kid from Hume Fogg won his weight class. Very good wrestler. I think he is 140 because I wanna say 135 was one of the Seaman brothers of Mt. Juliet winning. 145 Josue Brown, Hunters Lane dec. Kyle Chandler of MLK 6-4 152 J. Roberts dec. Marquis of Mt. Juliet. Roberts also got OW 160 Everett Colbert McGavock dec. Kyle Saunders Smyrna 11-10 171 Arab dec. Manuel Garcia McG 4-3 189 Jamison Cherry Mcg (transfered from Mt.Juliet this year) Pin Arab 215 not sure. Hunters Lane was in the finals 285 Hunter Allen Mt.J pin Jon Smith Arab correct anything that seems wrong because that's just going from memory
  11. also I'm not sure if this is relevant or not, but at 171 Davis is ranked over Willis. I know it's off season, but I remember watching Willis defeat Davis at the freestyle state tournament back in the spring. As far as I know it's the only time these two have met on the mat.
  12. at 160 Saunders and Colbert should meet up in the finals of the McGavock tournament saturday.
  13. Coach Hambrick is running the tournament this year. Not the one from Creekwood, it's his son. Alot of schools dropped out of the tournament this year for various reasons. Antioch Bolton, and Glencliff who always enter this tournament are not coming this year. Just off the top of my head, schools entered this year are; McGavock Mt. Juliet MLK Smyrna Arab (Huntsville, AL) Hunters Lane DCA White House East Lit. I honestly can't think of the other schools entered as there were alot to drop, but there are quite a few more that I didnt list, I just can't remember who. I don't think there is a single bracket that is completely full. The 103 bracket had 7 wrestlers last time I checked it. And no, brackets are not online as far as I know. HSDAD, your boy has a first round bye and I would bet on him getting DCA in the semis.
  14. Everett Colbert will be at 160 again this year and should be the man to beat in this region. Brandon Greer at 112 will be a threat to anyone. If he somehow makes 105 for state, that's a scary thought. He's got alot of muscle on his little frame and is full of skill. Josue Brown at 135 has put in alot of work in the off season. I would not doubt him as some people seem to do on here. Austin Corely is another HL kid who's put in alot of work. I'd say he is a good darkhorse. both the Clemons brothers and Dosha from Glencliff are all full of talent. Jacob Ramierez transfered to Cane Ridge, and last I heard weighed around 140. I don't think the combination of being on a rookie squad & getting that heavy is the best thing for him
  15. I will be very surprised if Turbo doesn't medal this year at state, and i probably wouldn't be surprised to see him in the finals.
  16. I'm no expert, but I think the rule is if you have a change of address and are zoned for that school, you are allowed to participate in sports. Pretty much saying that if his family moved and he is now zoned for Blackman, he should be allowed to wrestle this year.
  17. Does anyone have any info on the Ravenwood tournament? date and wether it's full or not?
  18. If there is any wrestler in the mid state area that's able to attend this camp, I strongly encourage it. Coach Trick is an encyclopedia of knowledge with takedowns from just about every angle you can think of. He's also great at making the stuff seem easy when he teaches it. Breaks down the move step by step, explains the how and why, and makes sure it clicks before moving on. But he makes it fun, it's not just a boot camp of wrestling, you will enjoy it. I've seen drastic improvements in my guys who worked with him in the spring. This is definately not a waste of time or money.
  19. any idea what weight Augilar will be at? he medaled at state at 145 but was a pretty solid 180 at the freestyle tournaments i saw him at.
  20. Try Hunters Lane. Their head coach left for a football job at Hillsboro. As of this time HL either is without a coach or has a new rookie coach I'm not sure. It's not a powerhouse program but there is definately some talent there, including a 5th place medalist at state who is a junior this year.
  21. I know this kid and he really has put in above and beyond the effort in the off season to be the best he possibly can be. His work effort is second to none. I would recommend you get a special transfer to another school nearby if at all possible.
  22. Corely trained freestyle all spring and has improved alot. he's gonna be a threat this season as long as he can get his weight down.
  23. was there any type of pre-registration for this tournament? i was considering bringing 3-4 guys down from nashville for the one june 13, but not if there are only 15 people there.
  24. i'm planning on entering the open division if there's any other interest in it. i'm weighing 206 right now, could probably get down to 200.
  25. As long as he had an AAU coaches card he's fine. The dead period was over by then. No harm no foul as far as I can tell.
