  1. This is a much better schedule for that program than what they had there for a couple of years. It's not out of the realm of possibility for them to get more than one win, unlike last year where they got roughed up by some pretty stout teams.
  2. MVP: Ray Robinson/AJ Johnson/Noah Melton Offensive Player of the Year: Ray Robinson Defensive Player of the Year: Jake Haney Best Head Coach: Gary Kries/Craig Moser Best Coaching Staff: Coalfield (Strength in numbers.) Newcomer of the Year: Houston Pass Fastest Player: Will Poe/Noah Melton Strongest Player: TC Duncan-Armes Surprise Player: Eric Stansbury Best Game: Coalfield/Midway or Coalfield/Harriman
  3. Region 1 & 2 Hampton Vs. Midway Sleeper: Coalfield Region 3 & 4 South Pittsburg Vs. Gordonsville Sleeper: FCS Region 5 & 6 Jo Byrns Vs. Mt. Pleasant Sleeper: Cascade Region 7 & 8 Fayette Academy Vs. Bruceton Sleeper: Trinity Christian
  4. What's Wartburg's non-region schedule this year?
  5. CY, I'm glad you put CoachLogan74 in his place. Anyway, I think it's not out of the realm of possibility for Coalfield to run the table in the regular season again, but it's going to be much tougher than it was last year to pull it off.
  6. CYJacket, what's Coalfield's schedule this year?
  7. The biggest thing for them is they need a playmaker at receiver since Peddicord graduated.
  8. SCW86, I can tell you after what digging I did, I found out this guy never had a winning record in Florida. But that said, Florida high scholl football is far tougher than Tennessee high school football with it being fertile ground for 1-A prospects so who knows? Personally, I think if the guy can go 2-8, that'll be a HUGE step in the right direction.
  9. Being from Coalfield originally, I hope they have a good year. I think they'll have a high region finish because everyone (save Midway and to an extent Coalfield) is gonna be down. I'm looking at Midway as region champs, Coalfield probably second, Greenback third, Oneida fourth, Harriman fifth, Sunbright sixth, and Oakdale seventh.
  10. Rockwood's not just good, they're SCARY good. Allen, Whitaker, and obviously Doughty can drill the ball a country mile and they have a very solid pitching rotation. They ARE beatable, but it's going to take a team getting a lot of good breaks here and there to beat them.
  11. I was wondering if anybody could tell me what time the Oliver Springs/Anderson County game starts.
  12. I noticed that Kingston had to move their game against Rockwood to Rockwood because the lights weren't up yet. I was there today and it sure doesn't look like the lights they're getting are going up anytime in the next couple of months so can someone involved with Kingston baseball please tell me what is the exact situation with the baseball home games?
  13. All I'm going to say is if Gleason wants to play GUTLESS 1920's "Stall Ball" to win a championship, then they can have the state title as far as I'm concerned. The only good thing that can come out of this is that next year the TSSAA hopefully uses a shot clock for the state tournament games. That's the only opinion I have on the game. That said, I hope the Lady 'Cats keep their heads up because they had a heck of a season and all of Roane Co. is proud of them. They may not have got the gold ball, but they're still champions to the people in this area.
  14. WAY TO GO, LADY 'CATS! Congratulations and bring that gold ball to Oliver Springs.
  15. Oliver Springs' schedule is nothing to sneeze at. They've played Loudon, Stone Memorial, Greenback, Oneida, and Webb. Those aren't teams I'd dismiss as inferior. I think they're on par with Clarkrange and it should be a good game.
  16. I wouldn't be so quick to say Oliver Springs is going to lose. They have more talent than people give them credit for. I'm taking a risk here, but I'm saying Oliver Springs by 3.
  17. That's weird, I said OS would win by exactly 10 point in another thread. Usually I'm way off on that stuff. But hats off to Unaka, they gave the Lady 'Cats some fits but I guess they just ran out of gas at the end. Looks like the Lady 'Cats faithful are making another trek to Murfreesboro where they gotta face a pretty tough Clarkrange squad.
  18. It's worth a shot at least. /laugh.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid="" border="0" alt="laugh.gif" />
  19. Anybody who can keep playing WITH a broken nose is tough as nails so if Hammontree is any indicator, this team is gonna be pretty tough and could very well shock some people.
  20. I would definitely be interested in going up there to see a basketball game. I've been to Hampton for a football game and to Bristol for Busch and Truck Series and NHRA events but I don't hardly ever go to that part of TN.
  21. I wasn't aware that they had to seat 1,000 to even hold sub-state. I knew the court had to be regulation size because I remember hearing about Midway having court size issues back in the 80's with a sub-state game but I wasn't aware of seating capacity being a factor in it.
  22. I don't necessarily buy the Unaka seats 1,000 people theory either because I just don't think there's THAT much interest in basketball in Stoney Creek. I could maybe believe 750, but if they did hypothetically fit 1,000 in their gym, wouldn't that be a fire hazard of some sort because I don't know of many (if any at all) Class A gyms holding that many people.
  23. I think the Greenback/Cloudland game could be the best of all the sub-state showdowns. I've seen Greenback play a few times this year and Hammontree and Butcher are pretty solid players so Cloudland is gonna have a battle on their hands.
