  1. They must all be cheating!!!!!!! How else could schools win that much? We know that it couldn't be coaching and motivation that is allowing teams to not only win but dominate.
  2. CPA has scheduled MBA the last several seasons.
  3. Don't forget how many TD's Ravenwood put on John Overton last season! Any team that can spread the field and throw the football would kill the Bobcats. John Overton knows how to play run defense by placing 9 men in the box but they would get killed by a good offensive team & Hillsboro would not be considered a good offensive team.
  4. Have you taken a drive down Jocelyn Hollow or Robin Hill in West Meade lately?

    Coach Rick Rice

Yes, late 70's or early 80's.
  6. Yes, there are alot of retired people in the Hillwood, West Meade & Brookmeade neighborhoods but you also have a ton of young professional families moving in also. These young families with school age children are now purchasing those $400,000.00 homes and leveling them to build the 7500 sq ft "mini mansion" on the one acre lot that cost 1.5 million. The people that are are purchasing these homes are able to send their kids to Ensworth, MBA, Harpeth Hall, etc... along with other private schools. They will not send their children to Hillwood even if they have learning issues they will pay $25,000.00 and send them to Curry Ingram.
  7. BA & Flatt will score as often as possible. Don't forget that some of the Ravenwood players attended BA when they were younger and IMO Flatt will try to show them that they were wrong for leaving BA. Flatt also wants to make sure to win big so that the best Williamson County talent will continue to look at BA.
  8. McCallie vs Riverdale should be a much better game to watch. You will get the opportunity to watch kids play that are going to the SEC.
  9. Hillwood will continue to have problems with their football program this season and there is nothing that one person can do to help. The Hillwood & West Meade neighborhoods probably have 70% of the school age residents attending private schools. Hillwood needs to become an academic magnet school like Hume Fogg & MLK but with a football program.

    Clinic Bowl Idea

That is not going to happen for two reasons: 1. The Clinic Bowl selection group wants to have good teams and many times state championship teams graduate too many seniors to be strong the following season. 2. The games must have a local Middle Tennessee flair for attendance purposes and too many teams from out of town will drive the cost up to the point where they can't make any money for the Vanderbilt Childrens Hospital.
  11. The way that is used to be is that each sport was given X number of players that could receive financial aid. In the late 60's and 70's is seems like a school could have 3 football players that were receiving financial aid on their varsity.
  12. Golden Tate is going to score the question is if Father Ryan can score more than Golden?
  13. IMO, McCallie is probably a semi-final team along with MUS, MBA and Brentwood Academy. Any one of those teams could win against the other team on a given day and I would not be shocked.

    Clinic Bowl Idea

The Nashville City Paper is reporting that the Clinc Bowl (Money goes to Vanderbilt Childrens Hospital) may change the process and play a doubleheader. Why not make it four games of public schools vs private schools. Just an example: Game #1 Whites Creek vs Pope John Paul II 11:00am Game #2 Pearl Cohn vs Father Ryan 2:00pm Game #3 Montgomery Bell Academy vs Hillsboro 5:00pm Game #4 Brentwood Academy vs Maryville 8:00pm Memphis does something similar to this with the inner city schools vs the private schools but it would be great if game 4 could be a premier matchup of state powers that do not play each other. The Whites Creek and Peal Cohn bands would also add a nice touch to the games.
  15. How did the kid (name ?) that was a backup QB at MBA and transfered do? Is he getting any playing time?
  16. Melrose had the best athletes but their discipline was no where to be found. MUS won the game playing with fewer athletes but making less mistakes than Melrose.
  17. Sorry that you were not treated well! Maybe you should go to Cooperstown Dreams Park www.cooperstowndreamspark.com and cover the National American Tournament of Champions. The facilities are great and I feel confident that Lou Presuti will treat you with respect.
  18. It is my understanding that at most schools not only are the buildings but the whole campus is Non-Smoking.
  19. I am sure that the D2AAA schools would welcome any of the D1 teams into D2AAA if they wish to take a leap of faith. It's seems odd that everyone wants to talk smack about D2AAA but few D1 teams wish to play them in a regular season game.
  20. While it's very early to be ranking teams I have to beleive that MBA should be around #3 or #4 in the rankings. Franklin & Goodpasture would be lucky to win 5 games playing the brutal schedule of D2AAA.
  21. LL get's noticed because they have the most money, have been very well organized over the years and play thier World Series on national television. However playing on 60ft bases, 200ft fences, & pitching from 46ft is a joke with the size of 12 year olds today, not to mention how dangerous it is. Put the kids on a field with 220 down the line, 250 in center, 70ft bases, and 50ft pitching distance and you will have both a better and safer game. In LL all you need is a 150# fat kid that can hit the ball out of the park in the outfield because he does not have to run and is going to play with his backside against the fence. Some people talk about kids playing both travel ball and LL but the LL programs that I know have told the kids they will not be eligible for LL All-Star play if they participate with travel teams? Is this a national LL rule? Just looking at the Middle Tennessee area I only know of 2 rec league parks (Rotary & Madison) that still play LL baseball as most have become Cal Ripken or travel leagues.
  22. When was the last time the 5A champion defeated one of the Top 4 in D2AAA?
  23. 63 Sophmores, Juniors & Seniors 51 Freshmen
  24. The hard cold facts are that Georgia places more emphasis on football than we do in Tennessee. The large high schools in Georgia run their football teams like small college programs. In Tennessee most head coaches try to do everything where in Georgia the head coach is more like a CEO and watches over his staff.
  25. This game should be nothing more than a tune-up for MBA's regular season. Let's keep in mind that Dunbar is nothing like Trinity or Saint X.
