  1. Yes, I just received a call that Aydelott took the job a Riverdale.
  2. You need to get with the program Vol!!!!!! With all of the recruiting that the privates are doing & the billions of dollars that they are throwing around they just pay the parents off to keep them in check!!!! Is that not how they got you to keep your mouth closed? Ha Ha!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
  3. How do you get caught? Is metro not fully open zoned now?

    GOLDEN TATE

Would everyone not consider him the top 2007 prospect in Tennessee? Has Tennessee ever had a player ranked as the number two prospect in the nation?
  5. The list starts with Golden Tate from Pope John Paul II.
  6. It's a sad day when you have to use Coke & snack machines to fund a high school athletic department. It's no wonder that Metro public schools are way behind the county school when it comes to athletic departments. I drove by Glencliff High School yesterday and from the road the football stadium looked like it had been abandoned for the past 20 years.
  7. In the mid and late 70's Hillwood was still a neighborhood school with community pride a spirit. Things have changed and not for the better.
  8. The best way to go to Florida, Texas, California, etc... and play is to avoid the tournaments and schedule the local teams on your own so you can play more games. In the past teams have gone to Florida and played a DH on one day and have a practice the next morning with a game in the evening. They alternate that schedule for five days. Key West High School has lodging for teams that will go down and play them.
  9. Thank's, you seem to understand. The neighborhoods around the school have not supported the school for probably 30 years.
  10. How are they going to have their QB's from baseball? Does the school not have the understanding that you don't take time off from one support for Spring football? Do most schools allow this?
  11. Hillwood may be the most difficult football/coaching job in Metro. Hillwood sits in the middle of two upper class neighborhoods (Hillwood & West Meade) and most of those kids attend private schools. The students are transported in from up and down Charlotte Pike and the Bellevue area and the school has "ZERO" community support. Hillwood needs to be closed as a regular metro high school and converted into a magnet school for grades 7-12. The Bellevue community is one of the fastest growing geographic areas in Nashville and the people in that community were promised their own high school (by the metro school board) if the community ever grew enough to support it when the old Bellevue High School was closed in the early 1980's.
  12. Did the Christian Brothers pitcher (Packer) not K 20 of 21 batters in a 7 inning game against a good BGA team? % wise that is better than what Minor did. Where is Packer going to attend college?

What are Stookesbury's college plans? Is anyone big looking at him? SEC, ACC, Sun Belt, etc...
  14. Then how do you pay for new uniforms, equipment, travel, etc... When I attend metro games and only 100 people are in the stands it's hard to pay for the officials. Metro schools must have a "Sugar Daddy" that takes care of various items for them. If a metro school has 5 home football games and they have 4 games with 100 people in attendance paying $5.00 each that is a gross of $2000.00. They have one big rivalary game that has 1000 people paying $5.00 each that is a gross of $5000.00. So the school has a gross of $7000.00 on football and they haven't paid for officials or field maintence and let's not forget that football has to help out the minor sports. I just don't see how they can ever get ahead. Now look at the 4A & 5A county schools. 5 games with an average attendance of 2500 people @ $5.00 per person is $62,000.00 gross gate receipts. Include an average gross of $15,000.00 per game ($75,000.00 gross sales with a profit margin of 72%) @ the concession stand and you can see the numbers are not close to what the metro public schools have.
  15. What is an educated guess as to how long it will take for Father Ryan to break ground on a new stadium? IMO it will be 5 years before they play a game in the new stadium.
  16. Who will Beach & Mt. Juliet pitch? High school baseball is about which team has the best pitching.

    Bruin Classic

It would have been great to see Farragut & Overton get to finish their game. Something is wrong when two very solid teams have to finish a game tied. Did Farragut & Overton throw off on Saturday to save pitching and get ready for their Monday district games?
  18. Most county & rual schools make money on football. Take a close look at inner city (metro nashville, memphis, chattanooga) school and they probably loose big time. When you only have 100 people at the game it's hard to not go in the hole.

    CBHS

Lipscomb has two good pitchers in Taylor Merry & Josh Holt. The problem is that while they are a good AA team they probably don't have the defense or offense (against good pitching) to play with CBHS. BGA will be much like ECS. They will have very good pitching and their fundamentals will be good. While they are not a real athletic team they will keep the game close and will win against most teams due to knowing how to play smart baseball. CBHS will have to beat BGA, they will not beat themselves.
  20. QB B.J. Coleman (McCallie) Big strong pro style QB that will only get better with time. He may have a serious decision to make as he had over 30 scouts watch him pitch in a recent baseball game. WR Golden Tate (Pope John Paul II) Tate is probably the top prospect in Tennessee during the 2006 season
  21. The Riverdale zone is changing & they cannot get the special transfers in like the once could, a new school is being built in the Murfreesboro area that will cut into their zone & the mix of the student body is also changing.
  22. Laz, Look at the schools that many of the private school kids attend. Often times they are the small (2500 students or less) liberal arts private schools that do not offer any athletic scholarships. Yes, the students go to those schools and participate in athletics but many of them are no more than walkons. They pay for their education with academic scholarships (based on GPA & SAT) , financial aid, pell grants, or their parents pay the tuition. The male athletes that attend the big D1 schools only receive a full athletic grant if they participate in football and basketball. The "olympic sports" only have a few scholarships available so they divide them so that several athletes receive a little money but few if any receive a full ride. To prove my point, go back 10 years and take a look at the top 15 football players, mens basketball players and womens basketball players in Tennessee and see if they attend a public or private school. I have not done this but it would be fun to see what the results were.
  23. The numbers say that "Jack or Jill" from X private school signed to play X sport at XYZ school. What they don't tell you is that the athlete will receive an academic scholarship or financial aid to attend the school and plans to participate in athletics or that the student will be a walkon. Examine how many of those private school student/athletes attend small D2, D3 or NAIA schools with many of them not offering any athletic scholarship money. Yes, some attend the big D1 schools in the SEC, ACC, Big 12, etc... but most are attending schools that are very small and the athletics are no better than some of the best 5A high school teams that compete for a state championship.
  24. Laz, You have understand what you are reading. Many of the private school student/athletes are not getting athletic money to attend college. They receive academic money or their parents pay for them to attend small schools so that they can receive their undergraduate education and participate in athletics. Take a look at which athletes receive money from the athletic department and most them attend public schools.
