  1. a small field is a disadvantage to the CPA team.
  2. GREAT Game. Hard fought, clean play. Congratulations to LC on their great season. Class program and great fans. My team won but I hate watching any Seniors play their last HS game.
  3. Public v private question: If public and private schools were separated, would the privates still remain a part of the TSSAA? If they did not, what would that mean to the TSSAA
  4. Cane Ridge did very well against CPA in the first half. Really hustled and took advantage of some sloppy CPA play. CPA pulled together in the 2nd half and pulled away. Very impressed with Cane Ridge. They will do well this year.
  5. Most interesting game tonight will be CAK / White House.
  6. The ranking is fair. They beat CPA and should be ranked higher because of it. It's just encouraging to know that CPA is very capable of beating them with Craig and others back.
  7. Work in progress is very accurate assessment. Although interesting to see midstate poll today with Clarksville ahead of CPA. Not because they don't belong there but because having seen the game between the teams, with a healthy Craig and 1-2 more healthy players, CPA wins that game pretty easily. I was surprised Clarksville had to work so hard to come back and win.
  8. CPA takes it easily. 27-0. Could have been by a few more if not for penalties. Hope this becomes a great rivalry. Lipscomb has a young team and will be very good in the next years. I like both these schools and enjoy watching them compete against each other.
  9. CPA and Lipscomb are both hard working, talented groups of kids. They all play unselfishly and are well coached. The players are good examples to the younger kids there. That's what is great about HS sports - watching kids grow into young adults. We should all care more about where they are in 10 years than rehashing what happened yesterday. This year has gone CPA's way. Not every year,or game will go CPA's or DL's or any teams way. That's life. Good luck to all the 9AA teams.
  10. Disappointing game given the timekeeper forgot to start the clock in the final seconds. A big question mark as to how the game would of ended. Inconsistent officiating in both boys and girls games. Lack of control of the game and all teams suffered.
  11. CPA was also minus 1 starter.

  13. CPA coach interviews at Hoover (Ala.) By TOM KREAGER Staff Writer Christ Presbyterian Academy football Coach Jay Mathews is one of six finalists for the Hoover, Ala. coaching position left vacant when Rush Propst resigned amid allegations of grade fixing and playing an ineligible player. Mathews, who recently completed his fourth season at CPA, interviewed for the job for two hours Tuesday. ???It went well,??? said Mathews, who was the offensive coordinator at Briarwood Christian from 1991-2003 before leaving for CPA. ???They treated me well. Their staff seems very knowledgeable.??? Mathews said he has not been offered the job. He said Briarwood Christian Coach Fred Yancey recommended him to the Hoover search committee. ???There are only two or three schools I??™d ever consider leaving CPA for,??? Mathews said. ???This is one of the top four or five jobs in the country.??? Each of the other five finalists for the Hoover job, including current defensive coordinator Kevin Sherrer, are current or retired Alabama high school coaches. And this from Thursday: CPA's Mathews talks to Hoover By TOM KREAGER Staff Writer There are not many schools for which Christ Presbyterian Academy football Coach Jay Mathews would leave. National power Hoover, Ala. is apparently one of them. Mathews interviewed Tuesday and is one of six finalists for the position left vacant when Rush Propst resigned amid allegations of grade fixing and playing an ineligible player. All of the other five candidates are either current or retired coaches in Alabama. "There are only two or three schools I'd ever consider leaving CPA for," Mathews said. "This is one of the top four or five jobs in the country." Mathews, who recently completed his fourth season at CPA, has coached in Alabama in the past. He was the offensive coordinator at Briarwood Christian from 1991-2003 before leaving for CPA. Mathews is 30-16 at CPA and finished 6-5 this season, falling to Goodpasture in the first round of the Class 2A playoffs. In fact it was his former boss, Briarwood Christian Coach Fred Yancey, who recommended Mathews for the Hoover job to the school's search committee. Mathews said he has not been offered the job. "I will be surprised if it is offered to me," Mathews said. "It was an honor to be in that final group. I made it a one-day trip and then came back and continued things here at the school." Mathews said he believes he could be the correct person for the job, which would include cleaning up the now-tainted reputation. "It would be a great challenge and a great opportunity," Mathews said. "What they need would be something I think I could bring them ??” someone that has good moral character."
  14. CPA also had room for improvement. When the guards are shooting lights out it can be scary. They also shoot 3's under pressure which they didn't last night-thell get increasingly comportable as the season goes on. Also they will improve at handling defensive pressure. It should be an exciting year and they are developing nicely.
  15. I heard CPA got the technical because they asked to sub a player...I think the kid popping the balloon resulted in a warning and the T came a few mins. after that.
  16. Don't know too much about Giles. Will say CPA was very solid Sat. Z brought his game and dominated. CPA must not make as many mistakes as they did in 2nd half but they know that!
  17. Totally different game than CPA/DL. (slow. low scoring - although exciting) MLK/PC was wide open and real fun to watch.
  18. Anderson is cool and modest. No Hollywood. Sorry you got that impression. Don't confuse with defense and intensity. He serves his team where needed. Either shutting down an offensive player or stepping up like last night to put in points. Ugly game last night but CPA got it done. For CPA to win without a point from Miller shows that they can adapt and win. I do think Slater injury slowed him a step. He wasn't the same as in the last game although all players seemed tight. It's an intense rivalry.
  19. Z is a huge talent but he is young and still improving. Some games a little stronger than others but always a presence. He will be scary good in the next years. This years story is guard LEADERSHIP-Miller and DEFENSE-Anderson. Ice runs through their veins and you can tell they love the game. When the sophs are seniors they should be a machine. Also, coaching and well thought out and executed game plan don't hurt! Any of the 3 top teams can beat each other on a given night. Isn't that what will make this a great tournament?
  20. CPA 1 is a great defender. Gents into the heads of the guys he defends, That's part of the game. Was driving the Lipscomb guy crazy. Before the play he got kicked out on he met 1 at 1/2 court with a shove - in front of the ref! THem proceeded to take him down a minute later - in front of the same ref.
