  1. db will win by at least 14 points, probably more. But this is no gauge of how the team will fare. The tribe will be lucky if they make the playoffs this year. Oh well, that's about as good as exitting after the first round, plus it saves on gas you can use for basketball. /roflol.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":roflol:" border="0" alt="roflol.gif" />
  2. Greenville 24 South 17 Can't throw laying on your back.
  3. The band is good to add to the Friday Night atmosphere but it ain't about the band. If it were, we would be paying to see a concert with a little football threw in while the band took a break. Don't mean no disrespect, but who can tell me who the number one tuba player was for the DB band in 2003? Nobody can , except his/her parents. As long as the band knows their place I enjoy the performance, but don't be late getting on or off the field and delay the game for crying out loud, sit down and blow your horn and it's all good. As far as the game this week. Indians win big. Oak Ridge is gonna get spanked at J Fred tomorrow night. Tribe 31 The Ridge 6. What's cookin' for the pregame? I bet it's Wildcat Stew!!!!!
  4. This sounds like Michigan just before they played Appy State. If you under estimate Central it could just bite you. I think Boone definitely has the edge but I think 49 - 3 is a little bit over the top. More like 28-14 Boone.
  5. You're right, it is not about football. It sounds like it started as one person trying to stir the masses and make one group of people suffer for what two groups of people's ancestors did over 100 years ago. Then it turned to an American history lesson, and now it is a pizzin' contest. I think someone hit the nail on the head when they said it was a college project initially.
  6. I agree with Waco's earlier post. There are several things that I would like to see "go away" as well. Some racial, some religious, some in other categories. Just because somebody finds something offensive is no reason to take it away because someone else will be offended by it's removal. Slavery was an atrocious act to say the least. The rebel flag does not symbolize that to me at all but I can see how some would find it offensive. That being said, how long will this continue? Get rid of this, get rid of that, it still won't change what happened over 100 years ago. The damage has been done and we can't go back and change it. Why do we all need to suffer for it now by constantly dredging it up? If we are not big enough to overlook a few things we will never grow out of the racial problems we have and all the gains made so far will be for nothing.
  7. I will be at that game as well, no matter who it is from Region 1 and 2.
  8. Okay, sorry about that. I was baiting a little there. It will be a game I would like to see. No idea how it will turn out because I don't know how good either Greeneville or Knox Catholic is this year. Hope everybody stays injury free. Good luck to both.
  9. 1. South isn't in the playoffs yet. Although they are most likely to make it. 2. They will have to play one of the top four teams from Region 2 if they make it and beat them. ( Most likely South will be the number 1 or 2 seed and play the number 3 or 4 seed from region 2. ( Beating Science Hill means nothing in the standings for the playoffs for South ) 3. They will have to play another of the "Final Four" teams from Region 1 and Region 2 and beat them. 4. They will have to beat the other reamining team from Region 1 and Region 2. 5. Some of these games "could be" on the road. 6. Maryville will have to make the playoffs and follow a similar path to be there for the game. With all of the following things happening, I would have to say "No, I personally do not think South can handle Maryville this season." I think South makes the playoffs, probably makes the final four of Region 1 and 2, and from there it is anybody's guess. There are no free rides.
  10. I have to go with MoWest on this one. BIG MoWest 42 Jeff County 10
  11. Step up to 5A then. You have proven you can handle all the 4A schools in a typical year. No disrespect, but I wonder how many of these kids grew up in the system ( elem, middle school ) and how many are transplants once their parents realized they had potential. Again, no disrespect intended just a legitimate question. Don't hate on me for asking, I have nothing but respect for a great program.
  12. That last line is funny... I don't care who you are. Not a historian or anything, but I remember some of those teams and I believe his post is also 100% correct.
  13. This is ridiculous, State Champs in 1987 ??? These kids were not even born then. Gas was probably like a buck and a quarter. Teddy Roosevelt was president. Jonesborough and Rogersville were the only cities in the state... 1987 means nothing in 2007. Absolutely nothing. Home field advantage...YES....5A versus 4A...YES...but 1987 ??? You will have to dig a little deeper to skeer the Devils off than that. I wish I could make this game but I have a prior commitment....any radio coverage? Good luck to both, hope everyone goes home injury free. I still say GHS 27 JC 21 but I have been wrong before, once I think
  14. My prediction was way off ( as usual ) and I stand corrected. Looks like Science Hill was out of shape physically....like real BAD!!! They will get better, but so will everyone else. I don't think this will be the year for SH to beat DB, but a lot can happen over the next 9 or 10 weeks. Hats off to South. I think they should win out except for possibly Greeneville, TN High, and Johnson County. Need to find a consistent running game but the passing and pass coverage looked real good.
  15. 1. Greeneville 2. West 3. East 4. Volunteer
  16. Sorry to disappoint, unless they give rings for the Five Rivers title, there will be no rings in MoTown this winter. Those are reserved for teams from Maryville and further "West"
  17. Super Offense but the Defense needs a little work. East or Greeneville might give you guys all you want for three quarters until you wear them down. But all of this is based on what I read on CoachT and the Jamboree.....who knows what will happen.
  18. You are correct...and I am betting that they have seen that one. Science Hill 35 South 21 South QB and South Defensive Backs look good Science Hill has Duanah and Trent. Good test for both squads but I think The Hill wins this one.
  19. Final was South 4 TDs and Volunteer 2 TDs South's first two drives were three and out Volunteer's first two drives were a TD and bad snap fumble on South 20 yd line After six drives each the score was tied 2-2 and South pulled Phillips and some others. Volunteer starting QB had 4 series. Three or four more series apiece with 2nd and 3rd teams South scored 2 times. Overall about even for the 1st team IMO.
  20. I am going to have to see Alcoa this year. Never seen them play but hear about them every year. When is a good time to see them this season? ( I would like to see a close game, since I will have to travel a ways to watch them )
  21. Troy Fleming, Reggie White, and the Ole Ball Coach Steve Superior!!! Johnny Majors was before my time but he probably should have got the Heisman over Paul Hornung, he just went to the wrong school. ( ND vs UT )
  22. I would probably lose the will to live without "Friday Night Lights" followed by Saturday couch potato!!!
  23. Good luck to you guys this season. Looked like you have a lot of potential as you will only get better as the year goes on. LB # 57 looked good as well.
  24. DB may be "Down" but I bet they are not "Out". Too much tradition and too many athletes. They could probably win 7 games in a very bad year. That shocks me a little to hear they looked so bad. What was the final outcome? Scores don't mean much in scrimmages but I have to agree with Wacko that losing a scrimmage is never a good thing. Need to build confidence while you work on weak points and still not show everything you have.
