I believe Carter is facing the same problems (lack of discipline, etc.) that Pitts faced when he took over the basketball program. If you want a formula for success, just look at how Pitts did it. It was painful for a while (had to find the kids that were commited to his system and way of doing things) but then paid off big in results.

Attached is a link to video of D-B's halftime performance at UT football game - they looked, and sounded, like a college band. It was the first time since 1964 that UT has invited a high school band to share this venue with them. You obviously don't know much about the Knoxville Stars and Thunder youth baseball programs - how they operate and their relationship with the high schools (and has been for many years). I believe you either don' t know your baseball or are terribly naive.

That's because Farragut (and Bearden) use the youth sports programs to recruit from all over Knoxville, much the same as White Station in Memphis . . .

Next they marched in this year's Rose Parade (major competition to be selected) for the second time in the last five years - this is almost unheard of for a high school band from outside of California. They have been invited and marched in the London Millinium Day Parade, Macy's Thanksgiving Day Parade, the Sugar Bowl Parade/Game, and many others in the last fifteen years. The music program is strong as evidenced by the 380 band members - the largest band in the state of Tennessee (to include The Pride of the Southland at UT).

If "winning is the only concern (criteria)", then the best by far not only in Tennessee but also in the US has to be Dobyns-Bennett. They have the most wins of any school in the country in basketball, the second most baseball wins in the US, and the most wins in the state in football.
