  1. Don't go gettin her riled up while she's up there BuffaloFan. We'll be seeing her in Tullahoma two nights later and we don't need any trouble..
  2. I was there to watch Tullahoma and the way their schedule fell, I didn't get a chance to get around to different gyms. I did see Smyrna a couple of times, and they looked good. Beat Moore County 20-plus but lost to Obion County in a close one. My first look at Fussell, and I was absolutely impressed. She has size, strength, quickness, ball skills and can score from anywhere. Also a great passer. I haven't seen a better high school girl in a long time. Also saw Blackman and Dyersburg play. Blackman looked good and won by six or eight points. I know Mt. Juliet beat Shelbyville, Cookeville and Forrest (overtime) but didn't see any of the games. The Mt. Juliet coach said Forrest hit 7 of 11 three-pointers and really got up and down the floor. Tullahoma scores: Tullahoma 34 Bledsoe County 17 (Tullahoma took control early and kept control) Tullahoma 34 Blackman 38 (Tullahoma led most of the way but Blackman nursed a small lead the final 10 minutes. Tullahoma killed itself at the free throw line. Missed 12 of them.) Tullahoma 32 Richland 36 (Tullahoma again died at the FT line, missing 10. Richland has a nice post player who can score from all over the floor and she did just that. Might need to get in a little better basketball shape, and if she does, she could be a real hand full.)
  3. District 8-AAA Quarter-Final Score: Tullahoma 4 Lincoln County 0 Goals: Zoe Johnson (2), Katie Kazmark, Lauren Smith Halftime: 2-0
  4. Tullahoma won 4-0. Assuming Columbia beat Coffee County, Tullahoma will play at Columbia Monday at 7 p.m.
  5. I can only tell you Tullahoma scores: Tullahoma 0 Shelbyville 0 Tullahoma 2 Livingson 1 Tullahoma 3 Warren County 0 Tullahoma 4 Coffee County 0 These were all contests lasting 30 minutes
  6. Assistant coach Clint Jezierny has the girls at camp. They only have seven girls on the squad.
  7. Harlow will be coaching sixth-grade girls (including his daughter) at East Middle in Tullahoma. David Muckle got the Coffee County job.
  8. Jeremy Jean is a very sharp young man who loves the game. I only know him through observing him as a player and coach, but I think Forrest will be happy with the selection
  9. Thanks. I've heard good things about her.
  10. Who is the young lady from Brentwood who has committed to Motlow State to play basketball and softball?
  11. Yes, and they can play to their hearts' content but the high school coaching staff cannot coach them. I know coach Buster Bush (a volunteer with lots of experience) has had the Coffee County team playing in tournaments because I saw them play several times. Not all the girls were taking part, but I suspect that is the case with lots of schools during the spring.
  12. I know you guys are big fans and you're impatient to get your new coach in and to get things rolling. But, he/she could not have been practicing with the high school girls right now anyway. It's against TSSAA rules. Now is the perfect time for the hire since TSSAA has re-instituted a five-day practice period at the end of the school year, and the coach will have five more practice dates before camps. Those 10 practices will provide plenty of time to start installing his/her system and to get to know the girls, then summer camps start, and there's nothing better for a new coach and team to bond and learn than team camp. If the new coach is hired now, the program won't suffer. Just provides a bit more excitement for the girls going into the summer camp season. Sounds like all three of the candidates mentioned in this thread have something to offer. Good luck.
  13. Drizzling a bit but nothing bad. Coffee County's field drains very well plus they have a tarp, so unless it's pouring at game time, I wouldn't worry about it. They're calling for 30-40 percent chance of showers right up to and during game time.

    8-AAA

Lincoln County and Shelbyville still have to play one game.
  15. Phillip Heikkinen was scheduled to pitch his first district game for Tullahoma. Not sure about Shelbyville. I couldn't make it to the game.
  16. Anyone know the score, or it it was postponed, when it will be played?
  17. This could be the best high school baseball team I've ever seen, including some great Farragut teams over the past few years. They are surely the deepest team I've seen.
  18. Great job coach Smith. You and all the volunteers and your girls made it another great tournament.
  19. They've won a few state baseball championships, and the girls' soccer team went to the state Final 4 seven years in a row. Take your pick.
  20. Anyone know if Belmont is having its team camp this summer or any details?
  21. They're not young. They usually start five or six seniors. And, while I would stop way short of saying they are one of the best teams in the midstate, I will say they've caught some really bad breaks that have held them back. Their starting shortstop and leadoff hitter, Hunter Culbertson, had surgery on a knee in the off season and is just coming back this week. Their number-two pitcher, Jacob Honea, left his first start in the second inning and is going to have shoulder surgery. He was also playing short in place of Culbertson when he was not pitching. Add to that a couple of self-inflicted problems when the starting catcher and one of the top-four pitchers (and closer) were kicked off the team for disciplinary reasons in pre-season, and they wound up with a lot of guys playing out of position. In all their district losses they had anywhere from four to eight errors in games they lost by either one or two runs. The starting pitching and offense have been good enough. No one is making excuses, including the team. I only mention this stuff because I know you are truly interested in the teams in your distirct and District 8-AAA. I don't know where things will go from here, but getting Culbertson back this week (even though he's far from full speed) will help solidify the defense and allow more players to play their normal positions. Regardless of what happens, I've been proud of the boys and coach Brad White for the way they've handled adversity. I'm sure a lot of teams have similar tales of woe, and as the great philosopher said, "There's no crying in baseball." I just wanted to take a second and tip my hat to the Wildcats for the way they've handled their own particular setbacks.
  22. They didn't refuse to play. When he realized there was a conflict he encouraged them to go ahead with their plans. He has this weird idea that there's more to life than softball.
  23. Look for Renea Shirley to pitch against Riverdale, not Chelsea Jones. Also, several girls will be taking part in the Miss Tullahoma pageant Saturday night and won't be at the tournament Saturday. There used to be a conflict with Tullahoma's prom and this tournament, and now that has changed but they moved the Miss Tullahoma thing to this weekend, so coach Cardwell is behind the eight ball again.
  24. Tullahoma over Columbia today 3-2 in 10 innings.
