I don't think I've ever talked bad about the team before a few days ago...I don't ever recall saying this team stinks or I'm leaving the team or anything like that either. I don't bash teammates ever (I didn't call out anyone specifically on being immature) I'm usually a pretty positive guy; I just needed to say it as a wake up call. Because that game was a huge wake up call and I wanted to make sure you guys would care because it seemed like no one cared at all at Gallatin. And if you guys don't want me back fine then I'll just sit in the stands and be a part of the Dog Pound because there's not a whole lot you can do about that and if we go all the way I'm sure those guys will want the ring too and so will I. I'm sure though that this will all pass you guys have got to just trust me things are going to be fine. And yes I don't know when to keep my mouth shut but I stand by what I said and more than likely I'll never say it again because it seems like you guys got it together.

Sorry yeah got a bit carried away...all of that was pretty ill-minded.

There's no doubt this is going to be the most competitive district in AAA. Everyone's lost key players. Smyrna managed to win district last year by pulling out two huge wins over Beech. And Mt. Juliet was no fluke either. They'll be a team loaded with seniors. Smyrna's gonna be boasting 8 seniors who look to step it up like the rest of the district. I predict Smyrna will come out on top in the last day of district play. Mt. Juliet will be good there's no doubt. Beech might be good but we'll see. I see Smyrna 1st, Mt. Juliet 2nd, Beech 3rd...Smyrna may look weakened but don't count us out. Everyone did last year and look how far we took our game.

Who's got Bulldog Pride? Anyone think that this is the year like I do?

Um...I have a feeling they'll lose more and they'll get farther postseason-wise. That embarrassing loss to Cleveland will probably get them off to a bad start then they'll bounce back. It's hard enough just winning 33 games like we did (heck we hadn't done that in 20 years) but 42 wins two years in a row? Hmm...you be the judge of those odds. But despite all of this you'll probably boast about how they're going to go undefeated and win State. Just like last year. And look how that turned out.

Nah I'm pretty sure he's going to Vandy. He's not going to risk anything he's smarter than that.

Funny a Riverdale fan compliments a Smyrna fan...because Smyrna beat Wilson Central...who I believe thoroughly destroyed Riverdale. But I guess that makes me a WC fan too so...

I could see this happening next year: Maryville would probably win that game. However: Maryville will never join the toughest class in TSSAA because they keep dominating the less powerful 4A. They are a good team but how would they stand against 5A teams? Did they play 5A teams at all over the last few years? Smyrna with Sonny/Rod duo would make a real interesting game of it. I see Smyrna pulling it out with that team in Smyrna's era. In Maryville's four-peat era, it all depends on who and how they managed in 5A.

I can't go 'cause unfortunately I bought Predators tickets for that day that are definitely worth more than seeing a team that I have already seen go all the way do it again. And what if they lose? I wouldn't want to see that...but if I had known that Dec. 8th was the day of the 5A State Championship I would have gotten different tickets.

Maryville gets the four-peat and seniors rejoice 'cause they got to see their football team go all the way every year in HS. And especially those on the football team; 4 rings is alot. But I wouldn't be surprised if Maplewood won either. They have got to be the cinderella story of Div. I football right now.

Yeah I don't think I said an inexperienced team can't win State; I oughta know that. But in this case I think the one with experience will come out on top. I said that about Bearden and I was right.

Quite frankly I'm surprised the Smyrna Bulldogs have survived this long, having almost none of the magic from 2006 leftover for 2007. And somehow they've managed to pull a rabbit out of the hat AGAIN. Props to Smyrna for sure; no one expected them to get this far. We were all talking about how great Riverdale was and how upstart Wilson Central was just a couple of weeks ago. And guess where both of those teams are now? AT HOME. This is Independence's first trip to the State Championship game. I said it about the Bearden/Smyrna game and I'll say it again: it's going to come down to EXPERIENCE. Smyrna's been taking care of business no matter who, where, and when. On the heels of a surprising upset, one would think Independence would be the favorite. But we said that about Wilson Central. Yeah, Smyrna pulls another State Championship out of the hat. Smyrna - 31 Independence - 17

I think my prediction was the closest of them all: the score, the part about boiling down to the bitter end, and Smyrna coming out on top. And the fact Bearden and Millington were both the best teams out of the 4 left and both were sent packing. Ah playoffs are bittersweet aren't they? But GO SMYRNA!!!

This might be a replay of the Ootlewah game a year before...I think it boils down to the bitter end...I can't see Bearden giving up that easily.

Well here's how I look at it: Bearden's lost only one game. Smyrna's lost 3. But Smyrna's battle-tested. And they beat a team with a similar record last year to reach State :cough: Ooltewah :cough: Bearden's new to this. They have never had success like this. I think it will come down to experience. Bearden's now tasting sweet success for the first time. I remember when I was a part of the 2007 SHS baseball team when we reached State for the 1st time in 21 years we took it for granted and got our butts kicked at the end. Smyrna's ready to go to work. They've somehow managed to surprise us all including beat the team I and almost everyone of us picked to go all the way: Wilson Central. They've managed to last longer than Riverdale or WC despite not having a better record than EITHER ONE OF THEM. They are also the defending State Champions with playmakers like Rod Wilks and Sonny Gray. They've proven themselves in the clutch and I know they can get it done again. Bearden and Smyrna will absolutely fight for their lives. Bearden wants to make it happen for the first time and Smyrna wants to avoid getting dethroned. In the end we will see a Bulldog in the final round and my final pick is... Smyrna 21 Bearden 17

Yeah WC would have to do pretty bad to get beat...Smyrna's gonna have their hands full. I have a feeling Smyrna gets dethroned and WC runs away to the title.

I think anytime you beat Riverdale you immediately have punched your ticket to the State championship. I'm a Smyrna fan but I'm sorry WC is going to win. Smyrna's gonna make a game of it but WC will pull it out. This HAS to be their year; look at how bad they've always been and now to come and make the playoffs and beat Riverdale that's huge.
