  1. Their feeder programs are in the best shape they've ever been.
  2. Athletics is just a piece. It can help them academically, socially and add confidence. I was still 17 when I finished my first quarter at UT. I was the last to get my driver's license. It's not always just for athletics.
  3. I've been around youth sports for a long time. I've never heard parents say that they wished they hadn't "redshirted" their child. But, I've known quite a few that wished they had...especially when their child was really young for his/her grade.
  4. I think I remember that the Rebels missed their second extra point making it 13-0 and thus having good reason to go for 2 when they scored again, making it 21-0. But, they continued to go for 2 for the next 4 scores before halftime. At that point, everyone knew a statement was being made.
  5. There's a very reasonable explanation for the decrease starting in 2020 and it really has nothing to do with leadership. I don't think here is the place to explain the numbers. Rest assured. I do know.
  6. I read somewhere that Maryville @ Farragut was on Thursday, Oct 31.
  7. NIL is applicable. Here's an article announcing Alcoa's program. https://www.thedailytimes.com/sports/pistol-creek-athletic-club-launch-showcases-good-community-support-for-local-nil/article_e93b867a-2736-11ee-8914-dfd203f5e9ad.html
  8. There is one evening camp that is exactly as you describe. However, there's a QB/Receiver camp and OL/DL camp for the youth ages that are quite instructional. https://www.parksrec.com/recreation-program/summer-day-camps#linemen https://www.parksrec.com/recreation-program/summer-day-camps#quarterback
  9. At this point, could the parents just effectively have become the new vendor and the school go through the required process to "purchase" the lockers from the parents?
  10. Heritage is quite awesome facing the mountains in October especially.
  11. The high school coaches have really bought in to incorporating the feeder program with the high school program, too.
  12. Over the years, GQ frequently played some of his best athletes both ways.
  13. Sorry, I wasn't clear. I meant that Oak Ridge's, Maryville's & Alcoa's starting salaries are the highest among all TN public schools. And the good point was made by osunut2 about higher degrees getting rewarded with higher salaries.
  14. TN teachers' starting salaries pretty much run the same way with the same three as the top three in the state (among public schools) so the teachers' ages don't necessarily have much to do with it.
  15. Yes. It's interesting the OR is #1, followed by Maryville at #2 and Alcoa at #3. Sort of explains how Maryville and Alcoa have the same staff, year in and year out.
  16. Oak Ridge has the highest average teachers' pay among all public schools in Tennessee. If a coach is coming from another public high school, it is likely that he'd get a pretty fair raise plus a larger (than most) coaching supplement. https://comptroller.tn.gov/content/dam/cot/orea/advanced-search/2021/Teachercompensation.pdf
  17. He made the "wrong" kids run too much. It was basically one set of parents.
  18. I took it that he was complimenting his seniors and how much fun it was to coach this group. I don't read much more than that into it.
  19. Team with the best ball boys will most likely win.
  20. Either. Here's online https://gofan.co/app/events/759975?schoolId=TN11339
  21. And, the scoreboard is being paid for by previous years' advertisements in the stadium and on the scoreboard. No tax dollars are being spend by the city.
