  1. This made me laugh. ALL YEAR, West TN posters have been doubting Arlington every single week. It seemed to work well for them to this point, so keep doubting them. I think Arlington wins this one......no question. And before you jump on me for being an Arlington homer or talk about bulletin board material, I am not an Arlington fan or coach. I am affiliated with one of their opponents and have seen this team play on many occasions. They are a very good team.
  2. Really? Quad 4 a joke? Do you watch football? Quad 4 is by no means a joke. Glad you think that Lawrence County will win just by showing up.
  3. Well, I figured they would put teams wherever the F they wanted to, but didn't count on seeing this. White Station got screwed BIG TIME. I hope they own Quad 4 and rub it in the face of the TSSAA. When I first saw Arlington get put in another quad I thought they got hosed too, but being the 1 seed they'll be ok. It is crazy that they can have an undefeated season and then get thrown into another quad. Good work TSSAA
  4. Bartlett came out tonight ready to play and just put a good old fashioned country *** whoopin on Craigmont. Bartlett looked like a team playing to get in the playoffs and Craigmont played like a team that thought they would just march into Bartlett and get a win for showing up. Went from a possible 3 seed to a likely 8 seed.
  5. I agree with you on this one. My opinion is that top seeded teams (#1 or #2) should stay as close to home as possible. After all, they have earned it throughout the season. If anyone is moved, I feel it should be wild card teams.
  6. The fact that there are no real specific guidelines on how they are going to divide the quads and group the teams makes me think that makes it possible for them to group teams however they want. As long as all the teams that deserve to make it in make it and the quads are made as evenly as possible then I don't think I'll have any problems with it. The only problem I can see having with it is if one quad is made extremely strong and another very weak when they could spread the teams out. It'll be interesting for sure.
  7. I agree Mark. Cordova has a dangerous return man and Bolton can sometimes give up big yardage on special teams. I know first hand after watching him return a punt against us. Bolton CAN win this game if they can run the ball effectively like they did against Bartlett for much of the game, but I just think the fact that if Cordova wins they are in the playoffs will get them fired up enough to pull it out in a close one. Add the fact that a good OC in Coach Alsbrook will surely know where to attack the Bolton defense in his playcalling.
  8. There are, as of now, 27 automatic qualifiers. That leaves 5 WC spots. The top 4 to me seem pretty much sewn up with Nashville Overton, Bearden, Independence, and Rossview. The only way I see Lebanon getting in is, first win. Second, they need for Cordova, Smyrna, Ravenwood, and Bradley Central to all lose. Third, they need to hope that noone right behind them in the WC standings (Jefferson County, Heritage, Warren County) jump them. Cordova plays Bolton.....that game is a toss up. Both teams are solid squads. Smyrna Takes on Oakland.....dont like Smyrna's chances. I think the defending state champs take care of business. Ravenwood has Independence......don't like Ravenwoods's chances either. Independence seems too strong to me. Bradley Central gets Walker Valley.....I think Bradley wins this one against one of the worst defenses in the state. I'll also mention that Walker's only win was against a winless Rhea County. So it looks like Lebanon's chances are very small, but it CAN happen. They just need Walker Valley to play their best game of the year.
  9. randymc......the TSSAA needs to put you on their payroll for as well as you get all of this playoff stuff. Keep it up....
  10. Prophet.....not sure how you came up with all of this. Craigmont has already won 7 games......how do you figure theyll finish 6-4? Even if Hardin County loses, they will not drop below Melrose, Mitchell, or Ridgeway. Also, if Craigmont beats Bartlett and Arlington can find a way to stay undefeated and beat Millington, Craigmont finishes 2nd in their district. Not sure what will be used to determine who gets the higher seed when 2 2nd place district finishers have the same record, but I'm assuming there will be some sort of strength of schedule ranking. I also do not think that Ridgeway or Melrose are contenders to take state, but Mitchell could make some noise. But losing their RB will be a big hit.
  11. This one is tough to call. Arlington can hurt you in so many ways, but Millington has a strong D. Millington can lull you to sleep with their offense and all it takes in one play, but Arlington also has a strong D, stronger than they get credit for. I think this comes down to who can limit the big play.
  12. This comes from the same person who said Millington's "region dominance continues" in predicting the Millington/Craigmont game. I also recall asking you what game you were referring to when you talked about our "zillion" mistakes in the Arlington/Craigmont game topic and never got a response. Yeah, mistakes are made on the football field but name me a team that plays mistake free football. These are high school kids after all and they will make mistakes from time to time. All that being said, I would really appreciate it if people would refrain from trashing other teams on here instead of just saying something like "well this team does this well and that team does that well." Is it possible to do that???
  13. Thanks cam. Willie Matthews is a very good back and I think if we can keep him contained we have a good shot. I'm not at all implying that we will hold him to a stat line of 50 yds or less. I think he will get his, it's just a matter of not pulling a Houston and letting him run wild (even though Houston somehow won that game). Should be a decent challenge for our defense and you can bet that Coach Armbruster will get his Bartlett squad up for this game for the simple fact that if they win, they are in the playoffs.
  14. Shouldn't have ordered cleats at the begining of the year should have ordered flippers. Good Luck against the panthers. If you Win, will you get to host the first round? Lol.....I like that. Thanks. Yes, if we can top Bartlett we will host a 1st round game. And depending on what happens with other teams, could host a 2nd round game as well. But it all starts with taking care of business at Bartlett.
  15. Sorry to hear that. You always want teams to be at full strength in the playoffs to make for the best games. Hope he can recover.
  16. Last time I checked the weather, it is supposed to rain Thurs and Fri. But then again, it was not supposed to rain this past Fri and we see what happened. #3 is a very good player. Tape him up good and he'll be good to go.
  17. I agree with cam. He is one of the respectful Millington fans on here. Dont lump him in with the idiots on here.
  18. And Mitchell had no business losing to Melrose. Mitchell is a very good team and Melrose is not what they used to be. If Mitchell is indeed seeded 8, they will be the most dangerous 8 seed in the state.....even the most dangerous 7 if thats where they end up.
  19. Youre right about Melrose and Mitchell. I overlooked that one. The 2,3, and 4 seeds would all have the same record at 8-2 and not have played each other, so I went by the Strength and Sucess Rankings on coacht. Craigmont is #19, Jackson NS is #21 and Lawrence County is #24.
  20. Assuming the teams win that you would think would win, I see the seeding going like this: 1) Henry County 2) Craigmont 3) Jackson Northside 4) Lawrence County 5) Hardin County 6) Mitchell 7) Melrose 8) Ridgeway This is assuming that the quad is put together with these teams. IMO, this quad and quad 1 look to be the toughest from top to bottom.
  21. Why would it matter how many wild card teams are in a certain quad? Are you saying that a wild card team is not as talented as an automatic qualifier? In some cases, yes the automatic qualifiers are better. Not to slight the teams that get in as a WC, but I don't think you can argue with the point that a team like Lawrence Co. is better than a team such as Springfield. As randy has it right now, there are 3 WC teams in Quad 3 along with a 2-7 Hillsboro team. At the same time, you throw Lawrence Co. into a pretty strong Quad 4. Not doubting randy's evaluation, because Lawrence Co. is close to the Memphis area teams geographically. I just think the TSSAA needs to try to even out the quads as much as possible.
  22. Alot of really big games this week. With the biggest being Arlington/Millington IMO. Just about everyone has their spot locked up, so this one comes down to if the Arlington Tigers can turn around from a 1-9 season to go undefeated, and do it against the team that has been the top of the district for years. Coach Wiley has GOT to be considered for coach of the year honors ffor his turnaround job with this team. The others that I think are going to be exciting are the Whitehaven/Melrose game and the WS/Mitchell game. These are 4 very good teams that have more athletes than they know what to do with. I just hope the rain stays away so field conditions can be ideal to see those athletes at full speed. Again, I will not be picking the Craigmont game. Arlington 24 - Millington 20 Bolton 21 - Cordova 17 Kirby 26 - Ridgeway 16 Whitehaven 34 - Melrose 20 WS 35 - Mitchell 30 SBEC 28 - FACS 20 MUS 45 - Briarcrest 17
