To me, I view this game as a game where SP needs to step it up. During the last half of the season it seems as the pirates were on cruise control, or maybe peaked to early. Tyner and Boyd they struggled with and I know that these are rivalry games and are tough, but they also struggled with Grace, 12-10 late in the 3rd. I also know that SP crushed TC in the spring like 8 td's to 2 or something like that which means nothing at this point. Step it up and come back with a victory SP, and maybe we will both travel up towards Knoxville next week if we can handle the Bucs.

I disagree here guys. Vic is a good coach with a great staff, but he wins with the exceptional talent he has been given in the town of SP. Pretty safe to say that just about any coach could win with that talent. Just a few years ago many SP fans were calling for his head because they weren't making it out of the 2nd RD of the playoffs. It is easy to win when you have a stable full of talent.

Scheme wise Marion is a totally different team. I think at the first of the year it was more of an I formation. Now, they run a combination of a wingbone option, mostly veer offense. The offense has really came along quite nicely this year. The first meeting of the year Boyd was without their QB, and marions starter got hurt early as well. Towards the end of the game, those big linemen, as well as most of the team, was sucking wind for Boyd, and I wonder if that will come into play this week. I know that we have some clowns on this board, as does boyd. I can see this game coming down to the fourth quarter just like ten weeks ago when they met. Probably the winner of this game will be the one that wins the turnover battle, plain and simple. As for the recruiting and such that has been talked about.............WHO CARES!!!! Truth is, when marion had there hayday, kids came from all over to play for them also, so whether that is recruiting or not, I don't know, and don't care.

Not so sure their defense didn't show according to the stats. Westmoreland had 4 turnovers and two punts blocked, and Boyd just had 203 total yards. It sounds like maybe things just snowballed on westy a bit

What about good eats in the town of Carthage.......always a fan of eating around the towns where we are playing. Any suggestions??

Dont forget a 5A team that was 3-7 on the year and scored 28 points on SC. Didn't someone say that Smith Co. was gonna win 35-0 over Marion?

This Smith Co. team will be the best team we have played except for South Pitt. They can throw it and run it and to listen to their fans, it will be a mercy rule game by the owls. I will tell you one thing though, we can't have turnovers like we had last night, or it will get ugly quickly. M4L said that a big second half would be the difference in this one, but I will tell you, if MC waits till the second half, the game will already be over with. You cant just play one good half in the playoffs and expect to advance.

I will tell you what, if we have five turnovers next week, it will look like the Seq score. Sloppy play, but hats off to York, I had a correct feeling about this one being closer than the last time, unlike some of these yahoos on here. Yorks players, other than the couple of dirty ones they had, played hard and were very sportsmanlike. The QB had 3-15 yard penalties on him and a couple others did as well. All in all a well played game by York, they made us earn it.......could have layed down but didn't. On to next week........

I think this game is a possible trap game for the Warriors. Just think, MCHS beat them 34-0 at their place, I believe that Boeck will do what he can to help keep the boys from being overconfident. Word is from some kinfolk at the school, some kids on the team already have their heads in the clouds, thinking about their matchup with smith co next week. This could be a problem, it is a lot easier not to take anyone lightly when you have been used to sucess, but with the quick turnaround I see this as a potential problem. With a couple of turnovers like last week, MC may be in a dogfight late in the game. With all this being said, I am pulling for the warrior blowout!!!

That is enough of that, most of us know that these two regions are very similar this year. Came down to the last couple of weeks in both regions. Any of these matchups easily be round three matchups as well. I was hoping for smith to come down to marion, but after reading the other thread about Smith, I hope we get by york so we can travel up to the hole. Sounds like a great atmosphere for some football. Marion used to have great atmosphere like that. I remember having to get to the game a hour before the game to even try to get a seat, and I hope that it is going to get back to that. We do have some knuckleheads on here that just blow off at the mouth, and we all know who they are...........they would talk to Alcoa and say we would destroy them, so they really have no relevance other than to say they have a lot of enthusiasm. Good luck with Seq co and I hope York has a safe ride down to the valley!!!

Didn't that scrimmage end up like 8 touchdowns to 1 or something like that??????????? That is what I have heard from several pirate supporters at the building supply. They say the same thing will happen again, no problem!!

I too think that this game will be closer than the last. Reguardless of what coach Boeck does, the kids will still have to guard against having the big head. Think in 93 coach C. didn't try to keep the warriors from being overconfident against a lowly kingston team. Should have been champs 4 times in a row, but the players were already planning what they were going to do at the state game before that one, and ended up getting beat 7-6. Any other time, they would have beat them by 40. Didn't Marion kind of change the offense and defense a little before this game the last time?? I believe the coaches will have them more ready this time around, and they will probably have some kinks of their own since they didn't even get 60 total yards. Marion can't turn the ball over like they did against seq. or it may be a short lived playoff run. After saying all of this, I think Marion wins 28-13.

I may be mistaken, but I believe that it would be at Tyner because of the head to head, but I am not positive.
