  1. Sparta won but don't remember exact score, won by about 25 points or sol Not a good game
  2. Half time score for WC and Cascade is WC 39 Cascade 29
  3. I talked to someone from wc today that had been to see him and they said he had a badly bruised hip. Maybe he will be okay for Fridays game with Cookeville, but thats a maybe. Just glad it wasn't worse. Hate to see these kids get hurt. Dekalb County has a guy that charges the basket like that and he has taken some falls that I thought would have hurt him. You guys may not be interested but Dekalb stayed ahead of Livingston most of the game last night and I think the young guys just got nervous knowing they were beating Livingston and made some mistakes. They held Dunn to about 9 points, 7 being foul shots in the last seconds of the game before he fouled out.
  4. Final 62 white co. siegel 57 They woke up and went to Puckett for a quick 10 points in the third and it drew the defense back so it opened up the outside shots. 5. Half time score siegel 35 WC 22. Cutter is playing, not the reason. WC not going to their big man inside. I don't think he has seen the ball. All outside shooting and this will not beat siegel.
  6. WC won 82-75 in what was one of the worst called games, on both sides, that I have ever seen. DC was all over Puckett underneath and he was still managing to score then he got 3 fouls in about the first 3 or 4 minutes of the game and had to come out. Delany picked up and scored 27 points. He also got a eye punched and it looked awful. Puckett still managed 14 points with two guys hanging on him every time he shot and no fouls being called. The other guys came in with good points and playing time. The refs were just whistle happy on wc in the first half and on dc in the second half. DC has a good ball team fast and rough but they should never have played WC that close.
  7. I saw Dekalb County play an excellent White County team last night and let me tell you, don't count Dekalb out. The refs were the worst I have ever seen, they must have called 60 fouls. All the kids did was go to the foul line or the bench. First quarter they sat WC's big center, Puckett, down with 3 fouls. I would guess maybe 3 or 4 minutes into the first quarter. They let Dekalbs players hack, undercut and knock down and no calls. At the end of the first quarter only two of WCs starters were in the game. This went on until half time and then the second half they came out and did DC the same way. They just swithched teams and fouled out some of DC's players. The game was so long that the crowd was booing the refs everytime they blew their whistles. So sad and it could have been such a good game. The DC boys are really fast and they are going to beat anyone who is close to their talent in their home gym. WC started out the first couple of minutes with a double digit lead and ended with a win of 82-75. A lot of boys got to see playing time on both teams. I talked to some wc fans and they were very unhappy and I talked to some dc fans and they were unhappy so refs need to stay out of the game and let the kids play. I have no idea who the guys were but they were bad
  8. White county boys beat Cumberland County 80 to 52 tonight.
  9. Lots of names were thrown in so how are the big boys stacking up? Most have played in 3 or 4 games by now and it would be interesting to see how they all have done so far.
  10. Puckett also had 11 points, lots of rebounds and sat out some of the half that the starters played. Matt Mitchell had 10 points off the bench. This was a sad game for Kingston. WC could have beaten K 100 points if their coach had not had mercy on them. Tonight should tell just how good they are.
  11. Checked on this and he has grown.6'7" and still growing.
  12. 6'6 or 7 Aaron Puckett seems to be a good choice with 29 points last night but he also put up 3 or 4 three pointers and had probably 10 or `12 assists, so he may play a double role but they have two or three more boys 6'5 or so that are good inside. A very tall and talented group of boys. I think you are right they will be fun to watch this year and expect high scores.
  13. About 6'7" maybe 250 Big and strong and smart player
  14. There is a kid in white county that be getting a lot of attention this year. For some reason, maybe overload on the team, he didn't see much playing time last year. His name is Puckett and he is about 6'6 and 250 lbs. He can shoot the ball inside and out. I talked to some of his family the other day and they tell me that he has a lot of schools interested in him already. So kinda keep the eyes open for this young man.

    Dekalb goes to state

Payne is a once in a life time golfer. Good golfer and a good kid. That said, Joe David is also a good golfer and he went to the state alone because it takes a team to make it as a team. One player will not take you. Thats why individuals go so that players who don't have back up can go on their own. Payne will always be there and will probably win the next two years. He is by far the best player in the state in his age group. The rest of the kids left on Dekalbs team are sophmores and freshmen and if you shoot in the thirties at this age you are among the few that do. Watch them next year and see and good luck to Cookeville next year maybe they can win. Dekalb came in third in their division and Cookeville came in second in theirs. Middle Tn is blessed. Never put a kid down it does you no good and sometimes does harm to the kids.
  16. Scores are in Green had 138 David had135----different days same course same pressure

    Class A-AA Boys

Does anyone know if Dekalb County is the only public school to place in the state tournament. I believe both the other teams are private. Why do they not have to play with the Div 2 schools that are private and let the public schools have a tournament of their own. If this were the case Dekalb would have won the state which maybe they deserve to have
  18. He is good. He was tied for 14th with a few other guys at Johnson City in the amateur tournament. The best of the best was in the tournament. Joe David won it and Payne Denman from Dekalb Co was 3rd with 5 under. There are a lot of good kids in Tn on their given day. There are a lot of good seniors and younger players alike. Even the state tournament won't tell for sure who the best is.

    Dekalb goes to state

The other schools were playing on the same course as Dekalb. River Watch is a very hard course and they beat tripleA White County and Payne was in Florida in a tournament and they had to play without him. Payne is an exceptional golfer and a great kid. They beat their nearest competitor 27 strokes and if Payne was not there they would have used their 5 man and still beat them 17 strokes. Dekalb has a lot of talent. These kids are averaging in the 70's and I think they will leave their mark on the state. Very few kids come along with the talent that Payne has but there are other top notch players on Dekalbs team. Thats why its called a team .

    Dekalb goes to state

Well Dekalb took the Region with a score of 294. Four medalist...Denman, Garrett, Goodwin and James. Portland came in second and station camp third. I told you that these boys are good. four in the 70's and one 80. The closest to them was 29 strokes away. See you at the STATE.
  21. Dekalb won the district in Cookeville today. Three of Dekalbs players were in the top five medalists. Denman shot a 66. Goodwin had a 77, Garrett 78 and James 81. The match was played at Cookevill Country Club and the region will also be played there. Garrett shot a 72 there earlier so he should be lower in the region. Goodwin is getting back his swing and will probably be lower also. These kids are good.
  22. some of the papers say it will be 3 teams and 4 individuals going to region and 4 teams and 5 into state. Some disagree with this so I guess nobody knows until Wednesday lol
  23. Its looking more like Dekalb County will take district and region as a team. Their number 3 Robinson shot a 33 at White county and their number4shot a 37. Denman was away again so Garrett was playing one and shot a 35. Goodwin had a bad day with 40 but is still an excellent golfer and will be ready for the tournaments. Sparta won the match with Green shooting a career record of 30. WOW White county is a big school so not in Dekalbs district. All of white county boys were in the 30s
  24. I noticed that the Dekalb boys had come in 5th in the Myrtle Beach Championship match. Teams were there from all over. A team from Texas won it but Cookeville came in third and Dekalb came in 5th I believe. Payne Denman won the medal for lowest score , he shot a 71 and a 69. The other boys did well also . Dekalb has 3 players shooting in the 30's and another one who is most of the time. Denman first then Austin Garrett then Grant Goodwin and a toss up between Robinson and James. Denman is ranked in the world and he is awsome to watch, Cookeville is very good and White County has come on and Greene is doing very well. At Riverwatch Dekalb beat White county without Denman, who was playing in a tournament in Fl, but Garrett stepped up and shot a 35 so Dekalb took home the win. If you have never seen Denman play you have missed something . /rolleyes.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid="" border="0" alt="rolleyes.gif" />
