  1. Exactly! I'm not saying the way they do it is perfect but it is what it is for now. That attitude is how the players should handle it it will make them better players and people.
  2. Life isn't fair and people need to stop complaining. Do Humbolt and Manasas have good teams? Of course. Do Grace and Temple have good teams? Yes they do. Two years ago Humbolt was supposed to win it all and Grace eliminated them. Stop talking about who is stronger and let what happens happen. Until games are played you cannot say one team is better until they actually play eachother. I know some records are better but sometimes a team has an off night. That doesn't mean they are weaker than a team with a better record. There are always going to be "better" solutions that people can come up with on who should play who but right now they use the blind draw process . If a team is good enough to be state champs then they will do it no matter who they play first. Don't give me this stuff on them being kids and they deserve to play longer cuz that is life. They need to learn how to handle what is dealt in front of them at that moment instead of what they feel they deserve. That is how life is and these boys need to learn what life is about and face it like men. That's what building men is about, facing adversity and dealing with what is dealt in front of us. The fact is SIX great teams have earned a chance to play in the state championship. SIX schools have had a long hard battle to get where they are, not just Humbolt and Manasas. So if either of these two schools should be the state champion they will do so by winning three games this week. Good luck to all teams!!!
  3. Yes, it was changed so that Grace basketball fans can go to state tourney and support basketball. Basically the two Wednesday games are swapped.
  4. On Wednesday Grace has the later game vs. ND and Ooltewah will play ND in the earlier game.
  5. You also have to take into account that middle school only started a couple weeks ago. There are still very early into the season and arms take a while to get strengthened and conditioned. Even at the high school level you might not go as high of pitch count with a pitcher early on but let him go higher later in the season.
  6. Yuck, ya had to bring up that region game, ha. Yes, y'all stuck it to us. I guess what I'm saying is the depth of pitching y'all lack this year. Those that you named that graduated may not have been your number 1 or 2 but they were role players who gave you innings. Not many starters can go innings 1-7 and its who you have that can come out of the bullpen to finish the game. You still may have some step up this year, just saying that is what you lost last year.
  7. From what I remember there were four players you lost last year...I think they might have all been leftys and pitchers. I would say that is a huge loss cuz from what I remember last year your pitching was tough to handle. Y'all still have that center fielder and he can play. I would definitely not say your number 1 and 2 match up with Grace but I would say CSAS definitely will swing the bat and its a good game to watch. The scrimmage was played with class on both ends and definitely look forward to the DH at Grace later on. Good luck Patriots!
  8. Grace scrimmaged CSAS this week and played it like an actual game the first few innings. Their 1-9 looked pretty good. I'm not sure final score but it was Grace's favor by plenty. I will say though, CSAS did lose a lot of players from last year, but they will still swing the bat and know how to make contact.
  9. Yes, their 3Bman hit one over the left field fence in first inning. I'm not sure how it represents him as a hitter because his other couple at bats weren't very good at all. But they will be better with not losing much and more experienced players now. Very happy for them and their new field.
  10. Congrats Grace players and coaches. Both did a great job!!!
  11. Yes they both have their own fields now. Happy for them now that they have their own place to play. They are nice fields and I'm sure they will love having a place to call home during the season. Both fields will have part of their fence very high as they had to make the distance smaller to fit the field.
  12. David Brainerd will compete in 5a...They didn't lose much and competed pretty well. They returned their better players so I think they will be up on that list in the region.
  13. I would have to give Harper edge over Kemp. Kemp is a shooter and Harper isn't as much of one. But Harper is a better athlete and much quicker. He has great handling skills and shares the ball well. I'd put him above Kemp just cuz he is the better athlete. Church is playing pretty well this year, he is hitting the 3 pretty well. As far as score, I'm going with Grace but it just depends on which team is going to play.
  14. If you look at both starting 5 and bench players Grace is stronger. The only guy Temple has that is better is Sexton...the other 4 starters Grace is stronger matchup. But of course you have the obvious inconsistency of the solid athletes Grace has. You can watch one game and say they are definitely the top team in the state, in which they should be. Then you have another game where they don't click and play as a team and they lose games they shouldn't. On paper Grace is obviously the stronger team, but paper don't win ball games.
  15. Seriously, I'm not a Temple fan but people need to stop comparing this incident to what they've been through the past couple years. This is in no way close to what happened and when you look at the rules it never clearly states how many games under the coach's ejections. Under player ejections, football is the game you were ejected plus one more. In other sports it's two. They've paid their fine and it's over. Stop relating this to an entirely different incident a couple years ago. It's an honest mistake, he sat out the next game, its over and move on. Still don't think they are the best team in Chattanooga though!
  16. Grace beat Smith Co. 78-54 and Boyd 71-22. Yes, that is only two games, but that isn't too bad when you have a fairly new line up and some other new players. Usually takes some time playing with eachother to get in the grove and they seem to be doing well together. Hopefully it's a sign of a great season.
  17. That is a good point, not much has been played yet...I'll call it my pre season predictions, but I still think Grace is over Temple. They lost their big man, but still have a big man who is more agressive. Add senior Fuquan to the mix as well as an even more experienced Hermin and some solid surrounding players, pretty solid team. Just my prediction.
  18. I'd put Grace over them right now. Yes, Temple beat Grace to put them out last year, but Grace person to person is much stronger. Not saying best in Chatt. but I'd put Grace above Temple.
  19. What kind of trick play was it?
  20. Yes, their record the last few years is a fluke. They are only undefeated in a couple years and many wins over teams bigger than 1A but they aren't very good. It's playoffs, they are playing a good opponent.
  21. They definitely have some winnable games on here. Their first few they can win: CB, Sunbright, DB and Huntland are very winnable games. LV will be somewhat difficult but it is still winnable. Taft is another team that is winnable, you just never know who you will get when you play them. (Is winnable even a word) Their last few teams though are not going to be very fun.
  22. "Sounds to me like your saying they're guilty without due process. Who needs a trial. let's do like the Old West and have a lynching. But I want to wait before they have their day in court before we say they're guilty. That's the American Way. You've said all these things they've done wrong and haven't heard their side of things. Until then you need to quit believing everything you read. The media and police have been wrong before. There are plenty of cases out there that prove this point." It sounds like you are a bit confused by what others are saying. Some come off a little harsh, but no one is saying guilty, throw them in jail. In any case where someone commits a crime, rights can be taken away even before a verdict is given. Some are given bails but are told they cannot leave their town. That is a right being taken away during the American process of trials. Not once has anyone said to throw them in jail. But the fact of the matter is, these young men were caught in this act and some evaded. That is breaking the law and until the trial process is finished, rights can still be taken away. The right to represent their program and do something they desire should be taken away, which I'm sure it will be whether it is by the administrators or the coach. Even if it got down to the coach's decision, any coach should know what to do. However, these boys still need support. They need to know that they made a mistake, they must pay for the mistake, but they are still human and this situation can be fixed. I pray that this situation changes their lives for the better. Play football this year, no...make a difference in the world from this mistake, I hope!
  23. Too small to be looked at QB for big D1 schools, but he has been looked at for other positions at some bigger schools. But smaller D1 schools will still take him. He has TONS of speed, very strong arm, and very accurate.
  24. We all are going to have our opinions. My opinion isn't meant to degrade or take away from those that were nominated. Those nominated are still great athletes and any team would want these athletes on their team. But statistics have been shown from many of these great athletes and when you compare, those that did even better weren't nominated. I am curious to how this happens, but oh well, congrats to those nominated. Again, you are obviously great athletes. Best of luck to Josh in your rehab and recovery and we are prayin for you!
  25. Never mind, I James King on unapproved website.com. 1500 yards and 12 TDs is a very good season. Congrats on being nominated, but over Josh Blake, I don't see how that happens. Does getting hurt and losing first game of playoffs hurt your chances? I know many schools don't use unapproved website, but you can compare Josh and he averages over 200 yards/game of total offense. Rushed for more TDs (15) as a QB compared to a guy that is a RB. Not quite as many yards but he is a QB, not supposed to but still put up just shy of 1000. I already know the stats are higher in total to Speed. I dunno, these other guys are definitely deserving and congrats for their great season. But I just don't see how Josh gets left out.
