  1. This has to be the funniest quote in the history of Coach T. Yes, everyone in Bedford County please call your school board members and tell them, What? Tell them what? "We got beat and it is all Shelbyvilles fault, please do something to Shelbyville! If they hadn't let Richland use their facility we would have won". Are you three?
  2. Shelbyville wins 5-1. Great pitching job by Hunter Brothers.
  3. Some people just want attention. It is obvious that they have no interest in the student athletes in our area. As for the game, both teams really need this district win. Good luck to both teams. We real sports fans wish all of you the best.
  4. I have not decided if this is a good idea or not. As a former Div 1 shortstop I do not advocate teaching kids sweep tags as they will miss the runner on a number of occasions. Straddle the bag and place the glove in front of the bag. The runner has to come to the bag, right? No matter the technique you will be cleated if you play enough. I have two scars from being cleated while turning two and one from the shortstop coming down on me after receiving a high throw from the catcher on a steal. Girls, if someone is teaching you to block the bag with your legs, don't. A catcher with guards is a different story as long as she has been taught the correct way but no blocking bags, please.
  5. Depends on how young. First of all I would make sure that young pitchers realize that velocity is not the most important aspect of pitching. While at a young age the most important thing is that their mechanics are solid. Taking care of their arms is a must so that they will be able to pitch when they are older. If they are old enough to lift weights I would suggest that most of the work be done to their mid-section and legs and not their arms. Weights for the stomach and legs would be very beneficial. If they lift with their arms it should be lighter weight and more reps while making sure to always stretch the arms after lifting, i.e: hanging on "monkey bars". Find a good pitching coach or go to some of the really good camps which colleges hold and ask this question.
  6. No thanks Salty, me and all of the other "cheapskates" will continue to allow you to pay our way. I will use my $12.00 for gas and to help raise these 5 kids I have.
  7. Please do not let the actions of one feflect on the entire city. There are alot of kids from Memphis who are doing the right things. If you have nothing bettter to say please go to another web site.
  8. I want to give props to Lewis Mcaster from Mitchell. I thoroughly enjoyed watching this young man display nothing but heart after his ankle sprain in the first game they played. I felt that he could have shown frustration also about the no call on his last shot but he took it like a man. Great job Lewis.
  9. Have seen them both play multiple times and I have to go with Antioch. It could be closer than some think. Key will be how Siegel responds if they get down early. Antioch by 15
  10. I am assuming from this post that you are a student. Let's hope so because if by chance you ever convince someone to marry you how will you explain to your daughter who might want to play basketball that she cannot because you find it to be boring. I find it hard to believe that everyone in the "Boys Siegel Nation" finds womens basketball to be boring and a waste of time. Tell the truth my fairweather fan, you are a bandwagon jumper who doesn't have the guts to support the young women on the girls team. I sat beside the "Boys Nation" the last time you went to the Boro. I am still amused at the crying that went on when you got ousted in the first round. It's like this son, the old saying goes: "I can tell nothing about you when you are winning but can tell everything about you when you are losing." I saw what you guys were made of that night and it has obviously not changed.
  11. They are one dimensional in that they only support the boys team as far as I can tell. Where were they when their poor girls team was getting blown out of the gym in Shelbyville? Use any excuse you want but when I asked two of your "Boys Team Sigel Nation" supporters where they were when the girls played they admitted that knew what the outcome would be and decided not to show up. A real student section supports both the boys and the girls teams whether they are expected to win or lose. Get new shirts that say "Boys Team Nation Only"
  12. Having not seen Mt. Juliet until tonight I have to say that I was impressed with their patience ane their mental approach to the game. I would like to hear from their fans how they think they played tonight. I did not think that Shelbyville played all that well and I expected a little more offense from Mt. Juliet. Was impressed with number 20 and wondered why the Coach left the post player in with two fouls in the first quarter. I would expect that they can play better. Any thoughts?
  13. WC very cold in the first half. Shelbyville completely took it to them. Hassel frustrated all night long. It appeared that WC might have been a little overconfident and Shelbyville had something to prove. Good plan by the Eaglettes.
  14. Great game by the Eaglettes. They totally frustrated Hassel. Big difference was WC not being able to hit anything in the first half. Also feel like WC assuming they would just walk on the floor and win. The Eaglettes record might not look great but do not underestimate them at tournament time.
  15. I agree that working after practice is a good thing but do you honestly believe that playing against good competition does not make you better? My own personal experiene (as a player and coach) is that I want to play the best competition I can schedule. There is no doubt that if you practice your team and mine goes out and plays tough competition that my team will be better prepared to achieve success.
