  1. I also believe one of the Bennet boys is wrestling at Citadel
  2. Ryan Nell,Jackie Miller and Eric Oliver are all wrestling for Marion Military,Ryan just took second at The City classic in Georgia and Second at the Seminole Rattler in Fla the last two weekends.
  3. Here's the breakdown Hudgins(32-14) Vs Escue(19-8) ? Sutherland(36-13) Myers(24-12) Sh+3 #5 Schurlknight(35-6) W/L Sommers(35-8) ? Schurlknight(32-6) McCreery(20-22) Sh+6 Knowles(34-7) #3 Feuerbacher(45-3) Bl+6 W/L Tapia(31-10) Brown(25-19) Sh+6 Vaughn(31-10) W/L Nell(37-7) Bl+3 McKinney(28-14) Patton(30-9) Bl+3 #6 Snyder(40-8) Sells(27-11) Sh+3 Fullbright(32-11) Rice(27-13) ? #6 Stull(31-6) Vaughn(4-3) Sh+6 W/L Vaughn(34-8) W/L Wells(24-9) Bl+3 Lyons(34-9) W/L Rush(31-3) Bl+6 Brittain(23-23) #3 Smith(41-3) Bl+6 That breakdown is SH+24 and Blackman at +27 with three matchs that could go either way.Should be very exciting and probably the best first round match up.
  4. Tough matchs @ Hwt Blackman,Cookeville and Siegel @ 152 Solomen,Patton,Wilson Central @145 Birdwell,Hummeldorf,Seamen @ 140 Nell and Satterfield split each with a victory against each other @160 Rice,Underwood and Mt Juliet
  5. The 140 weight class should be extremely competative with 10 guys able to win or medal on any given day. Brentwood-Hamilton Blackman-Nell Clarksville-Isbell Cookeville-Satterfield Centenial-Smith Houston-Mosely Ooltewah-Doss Ravenwood-Gray or Churchill Red Bank-Sharp Union Co.KY-Keaton Thomas
  6. Heard Blackman has been added
  7. Wow, that has to be one of the toughest quads all year.I haven't seen Blackman's schedule yet so I hope that's on there.
  8. The group of freshmen at Blackman this year is similar in size and talent to the group that Blackman had several years ago. When you put LeGrande Sommers and Tristan Rush along with the freshmen and Senior 7 together the Blaze look loaded for dual meets. No holes anywhere in the lineup.
  9. This is the year of the Super 7 and the best freshman group since 2008.
  10. Having the dual state after individual would make for a weeker dual tourny. Most of the seasons excitement would be over and fewer people would be interested in the state duals. Some Nortern(ILL.) teams have trouble keeping wrestlers after individual state ends. After there individual chance at a medal ends many of the seniors quit and don't wrestle in the state duals.I've seen alot of injury's before the state duals heal in time for individual state even if they kept a wrestler from particapating in the duals. It seems there is no easy answer but switching dual and individual order would be a mistake.
  11. I still don't see the point in seperating medalist from a previous year? If you won your region you face a 4 from another region and that should be enough . Lets say even before regions are wrestled the TSSAA would put out a bracket and you would just slot in how you qualify. It might make people pay closer attention to what is happenning in a region other than their own.Say the number 1 qualifier in region 8 would be sloted against the 4 from Region 6 it would have both looking at the other regions finishes to have a look ahead at who they might face.If two previous medalist in the same region finish 1 and 2 in their region they still would get seperated in differant halves of the bracket.Seperating previous medalists just seems like unnecessary headache. Double elimination along with preset slotting would make for a much truer finish.
  12. How will the state individual tourny be seeded(Criteria)? With only 8 regions and four from each region wouldn't be easy and fair to seed all 1's against 4's and 2's vs 3's in the first round with a blind draw on where each region is placed on the bracket at the start. Why is consideration given for medaling in the past and possibly even at a differant weight?
  13. Bradley over Science Hill and Cleveland over Cookeville in the Semi's 1)Bradley 2)Cleveland 3)Science Hill 4)Cookeville 5)Franklin 6)Mt. Juliet
  14. Here's my guess Bradley,Cleveland,Science Hill,Ravenwood.
  15. Where are the Region dual and Individual championships being held at? What are the standings so far for team duals? I know Blackman is undefeated in dual meets so far this year but hasn't wrestled in a dual format since Dec 11th. Do you have to wrestle all the teams in your district to qualify for regions or all the teams in your region?
  16. How in the world is Hamm not mentioned in this thread? Could it be that he does so much that he should be considered the head coach? He takes the time to send cards and notes of encouragement to his wrestlers. He helps all he can in getting their names to schools that he feels would be a good match for them.He goes beyond what I've seen any Asst coach in any sport my sons have been involved in do.He finds ways to get them wrestling partners that push them no matter what level that wrestlers is. He helps kids from any where that talk to him and want his help.On top of all that he does the rankings and helps MTSU's wrestling program.I don't think I've met anyone that loves the sport of wrestling more than he does.
  17. Should be some good matchs at 140 Colbaugh,Nell,Birdwell,Moore,Penson ?(Cordova),Adams ?(Kingston),and who will be at 140 for Science Hill,Walker Valley,Soddy and Indy?
  18. Congratulations to Adam Wells on his first place finish. He's a real hard working kid that deserved his first place finish. Adam,Eric Feurbacher(wrestling up a weight class and finishing 3rd),and Tristan Rush did a great job.Finishing 12th with only 4 wrestlers entered just a point or two behind teams with full rosters is pretty amazing.
  19. With the regions expanded number of teams, who would be some state qualifier quality wrestlers that might be left home? Give region, weight class ,and list the potential wrestlers at that weight class. here is an example Region 5 140 lbs Potential qualifiers are Birdwell(Cookville),Nell(Blackman),Seaman(Mt.Juliet),Belcher(Wilson Central),Hughes(Siegel),Underwood(Eagleville) should make for alot of interesting matchs. All are previous state qualifiers. What are some other tough groupings from other regions?
  20. I'll go out on a limb and predict a finish in the top 3 for Blackman in team pts.Last year they were 3rd and should finish close to that again.Look for seeded wrestlers to do well but will also get strong contributions @ 119,140,145,171 and Hwt.
  21. These are some of the ranked guys on the Whitley KY team #3 @ 145 Duncan Caddell #24@ 152 Scotty Partin #9 @ 171 Soloman Vanover #10 @ 189 Samual Vanover
  22. Are there going to be any early brackets(pre weigh ins) to post? Who are some of the better wrestlers from the out of state teams? Looking forward to seeing some of these matchs.
  23. No slight meant toward the Signal MT. program. We at Blackman were just disappointed in missing the opportunity to get some good matchs. Our season has so far been cupcake after cupcake. Also was interested in seeing the two second year programs(Signal Mountain and Eagleville) go at it.Hopefully things will get worked out for next year, both teams should be loaded(as long as we don't have any more quit).
  24. Since there was a mixup in plans let me guess what would have happen. At 103 Henley gets a forfeit, very close match with H. Sommers and Pressley, L. Sommers with a pin or forfeit win @ 119,Feuerbacher pins Henley @ 125, McGinnis wins at 130, a close match @ 135 ,Henley vs Newkirk,Nell and O'Brian get pins @ 140 and 145,Pressley and Usry get pins @ 152 and 160, Probably the best match @ 171 between Pressley and Rush,Blackman finish with pins at 189,215 and Hwt for Wells,Kennedy and Smith. Blackman wins pretty easily.
  25. Thanks for the clarification Grinder. That would make Tullahoma and Blackman the favorites to go from district 9 and Mt. Juliet,Cookeville,Siegel, and Oakland in a dog fight for the two district 10 spots. With MT.Juliet getting the win over Cookeville it should almost assure them of 1 spot from district 10. Congrats to Mt Juliet getting the win over probably the deeepest team in the district.
