Not sure what 2A school in NC is paying their assistants more than a head coach in Knoxville but in 2017 & 2018 at Watauga County, NC (4A) I was making $1700 with over 10 years experience. Our head coach at the time was making around 8K.

It's a great offense to run if you don't have massive O-linemen. The O-line rule is OIL: on, inside, linebacker-pretty easy to understand. It's predicated on the idea that you you don't have to block the opponent's best d-lineman (can change based on the inside or outside veer). Whatever that d-lineman does is going to be wrong (as long as the qb reads it correctly). All the plays start out looking to be the exact same play, but aren't. When I was at Watauga County, NC we added jet scheme with a lot of qb runs. Watauga in the last 10 years has been killing people with it. In 2016 I was the WR coach at Watauga Co. (what I called Outside Guards) and we led 4A (Largest classification) in scoring and were 2nd in scoring in the entire state. It's extremely hard to defend. Most people think that the B back is a fullback but really the type of Runningback that thrives as a B back is more of an old school I formation tailback. Gotta have a qb that's willing to run, too. We converted a lot of kids who thought they were receivers to the wingback position. It's easy to get in trips or doubles out of. it to run pass concepts.

Many schools have an assistant AD due to the volume of events at one time. One person can't be at everything going on, such as track meet, baseball and softball. They have lots of organizational and compliance responsibilities. From what I understand the Head coaches are responsible for most of the fundraising. You'd make a great AD, StrongX!

Hate to hear about the injuries for HHS. I heard from a reputable, reliable source yesterday that HHS will no longer play MHS. 😳

I'm going to go watch a well coached team on Friday night. I'm going to see Watauga County (Boone, NC) play Hickory in the first round of the playoffs and then watch App State vs Marshall Saturday night. Completely fed up with the Red Rebels and the coaching staff. No creativity on offense. It's mind boggling they continue to struggle to get plays called before the play clock runs out. The Defense is stuck on stupid with their scheme and defensive approach-they don't attack anything. LBs never get down hill, the db's seem disinterested in hitting anyone or supporting the run d. Special teams are anything but special. Very frustrating to be a Red Rebel fan currently. I hope for the seniors on the team they ball out during the playoffs. I hate they been stuck with the same, lame coaches for 4 years..............................

Offense looked better than last year. Defense still has issues stopping the run but pass defense looked better. They seem to have more skill depth than last year, too.

Totally disagree. Haven't seen any teams running I formation in years (except Freedom HS, Hickory NC-they ran smoke stack I) Most teams run some kinda of version of spread and the back lines up even with the QB and that's at 4 yards. Never seen any high school teams who's 3 man D-line could take on 5 blocks!
