  1. Typically West, TN has the talent advantage in the state tournament. Middle and East TN has a decided advantage with the ref's. Just how it is. The margin for error with talent usually overcomes everything but not always. Coaching is usually a wash and even at the state tournament leve. Doesn't really matter what anyone thinks. The games are played you have a winner and loser. Nothing will change that or the outcomes. This isn't war and peace. This is about high school kids and getting to the highest level for each class of the state tournament. Someone has to win someone has to loose. It's a great accomplishment for every team that makes it to the tournament.
  2. I pick Woodale to win it all, without hesitation. I do think SS could win it all with Maclin but I would still pick Woodale if I was forced to put money on it.
  3. I picked SS over Covington by 20. If SS is without Maclin this game is even money. It might come down to does SS make FT's. Don't sleep on Upperman. They have basically destroyed everyone they played for the most part with the exception of a handful of games...much like SS. If SS makes FT's and can contain the hot shot guard for Upperman they have a clear advantage..however, that may not be as easy as it sounds. Never ever ever loose sight of the importance of FT shooting.....it can be an equalizer in some matchups. SS margin for error simply goes down significantly if Maclin is out. If he plays bet the bank on the Hawks. If he doesn't toss a coin.
  4. Someone called SS by 20 on that other thread. That's insane.
  5. Who called Jackson SS by 20? that's just crazy.
  6. Now thats telling it like it is....two thumbs up!
  7. I bet the players cuss more than the coach did and I bet they also do lots of stuff even parents don't have a clue about..thats what teenagers do. Maybe McNairy should provide a safe space somewhere for small feelings. Again, maybe they should hire a preacher..not the son of a preacher. I'm talking about someone the entire community can put on a pedestal. Someone that has always held the moral high ground, someone that has never been compromised, someone we should all aspire to be like, someone that is pure, someone that is clean as a whistle like some of the fans.
  8. Tubby don't recruit Memphis kids..he may land one occasion but it will be the exception.
  9. Memphis East gonna be awesome to the 10th power N stuff.
  10. They should hire a preacher..a man of the cloth so to speak.
  11. Imma go with them boy's from Tater Town, Gleason all the way!
  12. The post was meant as a joke..duh! Obviously some didn't get it LOL
  13. Maybe some of thee kid should consider some of the Power 5 Heavyweight programs steeped in rich basketball tradition the likes of.... VA Tech, Clempson, Rutgers, Penn ST, Nebraska, TCU, Washington ST, Oregon ST and the likes. Now if a kid is pulling in offers like that I would say he is BIG TIME...these type of High Major programs would truly speak to the measure of a kids true talent...forget all the Mid Major BS. I mean if you aren't getting offers from the type of programs I mentioned you just ain't really a major prospect. These programs are just a shade below the Blue Bloods of college hoops. Carry on.
  14. I said 6 and 5 to finish the season...whatever the case i really dnt care ne way or the other..i stand by everything I say 100%. TCA was an OK team at best.
  15. I have in fact seen TCA play three times and I would also note once again TCA was an average team at best from the weakest district in West, TN. I simply called you to the carpet because of the BS. Nothing more nothing less. Just like your over the top stuff about the UC game last year and like TCA over BTW by 3. These were your words and opinions, you own them. Not me or anyone else. again, you were in the wrong side of the arguments by a country mile. I was simply saying who i thought was better in West, TN if TCA had to play them. of course just opinion is all. Never know right? just because GW Carver lost doesn't prove or disprove anything one what or the other if teams have not in fact played each other. NC State beat Phi Slamma Jamma too but lost a ton of game that season. If teams have not squared off all we have is opinions , mine is certainly just as valid as yours. I mean it does stand to reason the tougher the schedule and district the more likely to take a loss a team might not otherwise take if in a weaker district..not rocket sciene.....like you know what if a team plays 4 hard fought games in a row for example, would it surprise if they were running in fumes and dropped a close game against a good team? stuff happens wheter that happened with GW Carver i have no idea nor do i care. I'm simply saying i would take them over TCA on a neutral site without hesitation I can honestly say this, I have never came to a conclusion based on whomever i pull for. I call it like i see it.
  16. I have nothing whatsoever against TCA and wish all these young kids the best no matter. These are just teenagers who we should all support in the game of life which is far more important than basketball. I mean it's no peace and war. It' just all the over the top stuff that is insane. That's one thing that drove me away from this place. I rarely even stop in here anymore because of all the over the top stuff and once it's pointed out all heck breaks loose. I've never been one to shy away from pointing out the over the top stuff. I make the point is all. Like when someone is called out then the smack starts which is fine, i can even do that with the best of them.....altho, smack talk doesn't solve anything when. I much prefer a rational conversation based on reality. I always have a rule never trust a HOMERS opinion without first checking on my own or with others that I trust to tell it like it really is. I'm gonna gve another example of how voer the top this place can be..unrelated to this topic. thus dude last year came on here (a dude somewhat lots of folks seemed to respect and value his opinions) this dude stated his team had 8 players that averaged double figures in points...i said i call BS, that's virtually impossible in a 32 minute game..it just doesn't happen....i asked for the stats of ever game they played..he talked trash but never produced the stats....a high school team simply cannot have 8 double digit averaging scorers. i'm not saying its never happened but the odds are like the lottery of that happening lol i was going to concede if he shwed the stats tho...the ones he never could produce....three double digit scorers is good fr a hihg school team, n fact most dont have that
  17. West TN alone (no articular order) Halls UC Humboldt Mitchell BTW Middelton GW Carver heck even Gibson County maybe could be thrown in there thats just from West TN (1/3rd of the state) Whatever the case. I'm under no obligation to prove a TCA team that went 19-13 in in the weakest district in West TN is a top 10 state team. A team that just lost to BTW 74 to 44 in a 32 minute game. A team that finished the last 11 games at 6 and 5 with two of those losses in post season. BTW 74 TCA 44 in a 32 minute games is really all that needs to be said. I mean this is an elimination game..you know you loose there is no more basketball. Again BTW 74 TCA 44 in a 32 minute game.
  18. My goodness..do you have any idea how foolish you look. Making an argument going back to Freshman championships is sooooooo meaningless LOL!!!!!!!!!!!!! it really is. SS lost because the margin for error was slim against a really good team like Martin Westview. In fact , SS had in essence a home game as well, being it was played in CC. Again, TCA was not by any fair measure a top 10 state team this season in Single A. All you have is your opinion which your entitled to..however opinion does not square with the facts. Oh and I am not a private school hater..i'm not a hater at all. I love basketball i've seen tons of games over the years from allover. I been to the state tournament lots of years as well. My introduction to basketball goes as far back when Kentucky beat Duke for the National Championship with Goose Givens. i was jsut a boy but hooked from that day forward....look it up, that was a long time ago. I've most likely forgot more basketball (at every level) than you have even seen. Now back to my church league. We have not lost a fame in 17 years so i know my stuff hahahaha.....kinda like that High Level AAU team, NOT! you get em jock sniffer! Do you even know what a power Single A team really looks like? Let me give you an idea, OK. these are justt a few but their are others: South Fulton with Pearson Trenton with Nochias Doaks Middleton team that beat Trenton for the state championship UC with MJ Brown and Weddle UC with Brown and the other kid (his name escapes me) Manassas with Reginald Buckner Humboltd that lost to Manassas in the state Lake County team that won it all recently the back to back Mitchell teams I can even go back to the Sylvester Gray and Lang Weisman years when Bolton was dominating so don't give me the BS like i'm a chump outta high school that doesn't understand the game. This ain't my first rodeo...see when you have see good teams, great teams, elite teams at every level for as long as I have it's really rather easy to see what teams are really made of in terms of potential championship caliber teams...let me give you a few simple rules to apply so maybe you can learn something ok. (1) what is a teams REAL margin for error once out of the comfort zone. Elite teams typically can overcome even the most horrendous performances because they tend to have such a large margin for error. This applies to whatever the classification a team play in. (2) Elite teams typically have at least one player that is mostly head and shoulders above everyone else or at least close and has a solid number two that is a level below who would be a number one on most other teams. This rule doesn't always apply but far more times that not it does. (3) Many elite teams at the single A level have a low/mid/high D1 type prospect (4) always be mindful high school players have more bad habits than you can shake a stick at no matter the player...awesome players are gifted to the point the bad habits are rendered meaningless. A gifted player that is coachable makes for a very tough opponent. A gifted player on his own can overcome alot for a team however it shrinks the margin for error no matter the team. (5) PLAYERS WIN not coaches altho coaches play a very important part. (6) there is no such thing as high basketball IQ form a 16/17/18 year old kid All hihg basketball IQ means at this level is a kid actually listens and tries best he can to do what the coach says. (7) watch a team and then think how would this team REALLY stack up against teams past before even entertaining the thought of elite (8) is said team REALLY the type of team that is capable of betting good teams in a higher classification...for single A especially. If the answer is no that's all you need to know. If the answer is yes you just might have a scary team. I don't mean beating bottom feeder or just above that AA teams ether. I mean good solid teams. (9) and lastly elite teams do not fold on the road even in hostile places. oh and I typically go to 20 to 25 games a year allover. Now I only try to see the best match ups. I do not go to games like TCA vs Madison because they are usually neither competitive nor fun to watch and nothing is gained in terms of learning about a team in those type of games. Again, TCA this year was good at best and ot a top 10 state team...BOTTOM LINE......the facts do not say that no matter how you try to spin it.
  19. TCA WAS NOT, by any fair measurable, a top 10 Single A team. TCA was nothing more than an OK team in the weakest district in West, TN alone. You haven't a clue if you truly believe that. Last season you were the one saying TCA had one of the best teams in the state regardless of class I think. You were the one talking about how they were going to go in UC and win or play to the buzzer of some BS like that....I was the one, saying with others, saying TCA did not stand a chance and it would be an absolute woodshed game which it was. At some point it becomes obvious you see everything through nothing more than performance of the district you play in and really don't have a clue about other districts and the state at large. Your like a snake oil salesman or jock sniffer fan boy. Been tons of those come and go through CoachT, you are just one in a long long list of them. I also seem to remember you talking all this junk last season about you coached a high level AAU team which turned out to be completely false..keep in mind it was you that used thee term HIGH LEVEL AAU team lol....I know as much as anyone on here about AAU, I had never even heard of this team you spoke of...why? because IT WAS NOT A HIGH LEVEL AAU TEAM AT ALL. You were blowing smoke and really exaggerating , which you have a tendency to do AT A HIGH LEVEL. Now to the point of TCA being a top 10 team in the state as you said..another total fabrication not based in fact. This top 10 BS is another fabrication you pushed. Again, keep in mind TCA is not in what one would call a power house district..far from it. Anyway, to the point: Class A schedule strength TCA comes in at 80 out of 122 teams Class A Strength + Schedule TCA comes in at 43 out of 122 teams These are not measurable's that would indicate a top 10 team in the state, FAR FROM IT. Again, it was you that said TOP 10. You seem to make lots of brash statements that never seem to be grounded in reality. In fairness the schedule and strength are not entirely an iron clad assessment but nonetheless there is some element of accuracy albeit not 100%. the argument that Billy Joe Jim Bob missed some games because of Football or Cletus broke a fingernail and was missed some games and played some at 25% strength due to the fingernail injury. Well, everyone has an excuse for loosing....Fact is tons of teams have the exact same issues. Football and fingernail injuries are not just isolated to TCA. You are a discredit to the TCA players and team for the simple reason of over hyping players that play at the absolute lowest level of basketball, that being Single A. Jock sniffers tend to do that, been happening forever and will continue. Everything you say or your analysis absolutely must be taken with a grain of salt. Just like all the BS last season, the UC game being a great example and like the TCA by 3 over BTW another example....both absolute woodshed games that you were on the wrong side of the argument and on the wrong side by a country mile. I have a really good record over the years on here so I'm not going to belabor the point. I'm simply stating you sir do not have a clue. Ive seen SOOOOO MANY GOOD AN ELITE TEAMS and PLAYERS over the years, from every district. These things are not really that hard to see as they really are. ELITE TEAMS AND PROGRAMS GET THE JOB DONE and have the banners and hardware to prove it. They have ups and downs of course but seem to be able to sustain success over the long haul. The best Single A teams from West, TN over the last 15 or longer years would have run TCA out of the gym last year. To this year, no point in even arguing that point because TCA was OK at best and from a weak district at that. Excuse me while I go coach up my church league team to another Championship.
  20. Jackson SS had a good season..props to them.
