  1. Yes matback Maryville has the best coaching staff in the state. They have proved that the last 6 years. It surprises me how some of the Red Rebel fans thought they would never make it to this point after the Alcoa game. Some of the posters predicted 6-4 or a 7-3 regular season record. I said all along that Maryville would make it to the quarterfinals or the semi finals. Now I don't see any reason why they can't bring another gold ball back to Blount County. Congrats on a great win Rebels. now go out like Elvis and TCB!
  2. I'll take Maryville in a close one IF they don't let Purdy go for more the 150 yards. Maryville 31 Farragut 27
  3. Loudon is a very good 3a football team. Their lines on both sides are very good. The only problem is they don't have enough playmakers to win this game. Good luck to both teams but Alcoa by 4 TD'S. Alcoa 34 Loudon 7
  4. I believe this game is pretty evenly matched up. If Elizabethton can stop A-E from big plays then they will have a good chance to win. If not then it will be a long night for them. I'll take A-E by a touchdown and Turtle will finally gets what he wants. A trip to the hill to play Alcoa. Be careful what you wish for Turtle.
  5. Commitment, Courage, Character, & Coaching!!! Of course it also helps to have the talent but without the 4 C's then its useless. Give me kids with 3 of the C's and bring it on.
  6. WOW!!! This must be the upset of the week. Great game dragons and good luck next week.
  7. First of all I want to give congrats to CAK on a great season. Warriors is a great football mascot for your team. That is how they play football on the field. We here at Alcoa have a lot of respect for your program. Your a classy team that never gives up. There no doubt if CAK would have been in another bracket you could have gone much farther. No doubt your a top 5 team in my opinion. Can't wait to do this again next year at home. As for the Tornadoes we played pretty good all but the kickoff return. I can't remember the last time we gave up a touchdown on special teams. I still wish we would run the TE across the middle more. He is a big time mismatch with pretty much any team we play. Plus that's one of the easiest passes to make. Glad to see the second team get some action at the end of the game. We have a couple of special freshman that will benefit on down the road with this experience. This is one reason the Tornadoes have had an extra leg up on a lot of schools in the past few years. The second team is ready to roll by the time the next year rolls around. Same with our cross town rivals.
  8. First of all I want to say how I was wrong about this McMinn County team. Earlier in the year after they played Maryville I stated how this MC team was an average team at best. I was wrong on that assumption. They have gotten better every week just like this Maryville team. If MC doesn't make any stupid mistakes then this game should be close but I still like Maryville in this one. Its hard to pick against a GQ coached team. Maryville 34 McMinn County 24

  11. I'll take the Admirals in this one with Smith being out. Farrugut 24 Ooltewah 10
  12. Alcoa's best team was in 1989. This team has a chance to be special as well but they have to win 5 more before we talk about which Alcoa team was the best. The 1988 team was also special but they got beat by BA in the championship game. The BA team that year ended up being ranked like 12th in the country that year. I would have to say that the Alcoa team in 89' and the BA team in 88' would have to be considered as two of the top teams to ever come out of Tennessee.
  13. Dangerous first round match-up but Alcoa ROLLS OVER THE RAM TRAIN. ALCOA-44 TYNER-13
  14. Maryville is playing to good here at the end of the season. Last week was just one of those let down games. Maryville will roll in this one. Maryville- 42 DB- 14
  15. I can't believe we are still talking about a game that will never happen. Imaginary games are hard to predict.
  16. I believe Alcoa's athletic director would know if Ensworth was wanting to schedule us but he didn't. When you want to schedule a game with Alcoa you talk with the AD. I'm sure he would also consult with the head coach. That did not happen in this case. Therefore I have to believe it didn't happen at all. What would make me think other wise?? I wished this thread would have never been started.
  17. jangel I think 4 classifications would work better. That way teams that are 6-4 or 7-3 get into the playoffs. It also would cut down on travel in the regular season games and the playoff travel as well.
  18. I just don't understand why people want to come on here and just flat out lie. I personally know Alcoa's athletic director. Alcoa has tried to schedule schools all over the east side of the state and some in middle. All have declined in middle. Ensworth has never ask Alcoa to play them in the regular season. Also Alcoa in the 80's & 90's did play up in classification for years. We played in the old 2a when there was only 3 classifications (should have been in 1a thru that whole period). We are currently the 3rd smallest 3a school in the state and if we went to 4a our travel expense would double. So you won't see Alcoa moving up in classification any time soon.
  19. Volfan5...if I were you or your administration, I would contact them and not wait by the phone on them to call you! They (MUS, MBA, Ensworth, BA, McCallie, Christian Brothers) doesn't need an ALCOA to offer to come play them to solidify anything!....you mean nothing to them...and they could care less! Therefore, my suggestion would be to call them...you can find each of the school's phone information by logging onto their team homepage on this very website! Good luck with your scheduling!! Wow!! For one Alcoa played McCallie in 06 and 07. Alcoa won both of those games. McCallie didn't renew their series with us after that. Also we have contacted several schools in the Nashville area that have declined to play us. Some of the so called big boys. I would like to get to play some of these imaginary games Advisor.
  20. Take off your maroon tinted glasses and give yourself a reality check. If MUS hasn't had any trouble with any other teams running the ball this year, they wouldn't have trouble with Alcoa. I don't get where you think they'd have trouble stopping Alcoa's run game. Just because you ran for 350+ yards against Maryville makes you think you're unstoppable? MUS would beat Maryville by as many as they wanted to as well. I'm telling you, MUS makes NO mistakes and run things to perfection. MUS has NO players going both ways. Alcoa would have trouble with MUS's running game, passing game, defense and whatever else is left. We actually ran for 442 yards on Maryville and we had 2 3rd down plays all night. If you ever played against a Rebel team you realize how amazing those two stats are. Having said that have one of those Memphis private school schedule us in 2011 and 2012. We will need two games in those years. That way these imaginary games can become reality. I'm sure Alcoa would gladly accept any invitation to play MUS or any other private school. If I'm not mistaken Alcoa is 3-1 against DII teams all time.
  21. TSSAA should go to 4 classifications. Its funny they said it was due to the travel for schools. Look at some of the match-ups in the 3a playoffs. Johnson Co at AE ( JC has about 95 miles trip)- Tyner at Alcoa (Tyner has about 84 mile trip)-Loudon at Bledsoe Co (Loudon has about 90 mile trip) These are just a few of the games but you get my drift. With 4 classifications you would have first round games much closer and you would have overall better competition top to bottom of the playoffs in this system. We have a water downed system for the amount of school we have in this state. When you see 1-9 teams 3-7 teams getting into the playoffs you know somethings wrong. Scrap it and start all over!
  22. Alcoa could not come within 4 touchdowns of MUS, I have seen both teams play as a scout and it would not even be a close game. MUS is one of the most dominant HS Football teams I have seen in this state in a long time. now that is funny.... now go and check yourself into the hospital. MUS would have trouble with Alcoa's run game.
  23. Looking at the brackets, it looks like they didn't do us in favors. Tyner is a lot tougher opening round opponent than any the last 5 years. Then we have CAK probably in the second round. If this bracket breaks down like I think its going to, it will be a tough road to the championship game. BCSF I doubt Tyner will be near as good as the 06 team but a very dangerous opening match-up.
  24. Bulldog fan I was actually thinking the same thing. Should be an interesting match-up. Good luck to both teams.
