Apparently it does make a difference. Heck, Grace Christian didn't even know the rules.
  2. Alcoa is "open enrollment" like Hillsboro in Nashville

Did Grace Christian self report itself? or not
  4. publics need a magnet div (large and small} an open enrollment div (large and small) a co-op division (large and small) and an I go to the school I am zoned for div (large and small) - that would be at least 8 more championships for publics!
  5. Great post - have u tried co-op? if your school doesn't offer the sport you want to play - you can go to the other co-op in ur cluster and play while going to class at original school or some kind of rig-a-marole - publics have it made.
  6. Must be a pretty small town - takes about 11-12 girls in softball and 7-8 girls in basketball.... that's 20 or so - where/what are the other girls doing?
  7. Very relevant - East Lit - magnet school/public, finals of AA state this year. Hillsboro High School - open enrollment - several AAA football state champs, and I think they won the girls AAA state either last year or the year before. Alcoa - open enrollment 15-20 straight AA football championships. And all those A girls teams out in the hoot and hollers they move around and get to the school in that part of the county that has the strongest basketball - I "think" the publics work "their system"(transferring) pretty well - heck now the publics will give you gas money to get to school to go to ur school of choice.
  8. Wait and see what kind of draw they get at the state tournament - the "game" knows.
  9. I would take Sycamore over Lipscomb
  10. Did Dean Smith become a bad coach after the shot clock became a rule of the game?
  11. What fundamentals does stalling teach? The shot clock does reward good defense. You will see more upsets with shot clock than without it!
  12. In the girls game, when they introduced the starting Lipscomb girls - did they announce how long they had attended Lipscomb like they did at the boys game? I have never seen that before.
  13. Not really - both publics and privates recruit and transfer. It goes on in both arenas - whatever u call it, the rules have to be followed - and in both cases (private and public) there are advantages and disadvantages. It ususally raises questions when a "good" player goes from one school to another. I "think" the publics have a huge advantage in the rural areas and the privates have the advantage in bigger cities.
  14. Yeah - the same Clarkrange team that NEVER shook hands after the championship game with whoever they beat - they dog piled.......I was there saw it - really weird
  15. The "game" knows - I know of 2 teams with a lot of tradition and great teams that ran up some scores ridicuously - and then drew the top seed in the state tournament and were out in 1 game.
  16. Publics transfer and privates recruit.... privates recruit every student they have

    burnout

I purposely did not let my son play travel baseball at an early age. Started playing travel baseball at a bout 13 and still was not that much - then at 16-17 yrs old played with a high power travel team. I wanted him to love the game and be performing at his highlest level as he got older - when it counted - IF he wanted to go on and play in college - which he did. My middle daughter never played travel anything, but played 3 sports in high school all 4 years - volleyball, basketball, and softball - did not play in college. My youngest daughter/tall for her age - was approached at 8-9 yrs old to play AAU basketball - she didn't want to - didn't make her - again if she wanted to play she had to have the desire to play. She started playing AAU - her choice - at age 13, and played every summer till she graduated. She also "squeezed" in volleyball in high school. She is playing in college now. Both kids that played in college/on scholarship. Different strokes for different folks.... I put a lot of stock in that a kid has to want to play themselves because they want too - not anyone else.
  18. In that case the kids that compete in spelling bee's are athletes
  19. Only if one school is private - should they not play each other.
  20. The magnets are starting to figure it out - getting better in lots of sports. No zones for magnets - just have to get there.......
  21. Ya need to go to some of ur stronger A public schools and see how they use the "transfer" rules to better their teams - instead of paying tuition, u just pay to move.......
  22. I would think the team that put ol' Goodpasture out of the tourney would have the edge - could be a let down too.....
