  4. USJ @ St. George's scheduled for Friday night has been postponed. Rescheduled for Thursday, February 11th.
  5. Is DII divided into A and AA or just lumped together into one the way football all state was? Sorry, I don't get why that is not divided along classification lines the same as DI ?????
  6. [ Thanks Westtnman. FRA-Ezell Harding game was the same, packed. We hear nothing on the west schools in Middle Tenn. Who is leading and what does the region look like as far as the final 4? Two districts in the West: One district has USJ and Fayette Academy at top-both with one loss. These teams play tomorrow night (Fayette won the first game) with the winner in sole possesion of first. Jackson Christian has 2 losses (both to USJ) and beat Fayette Academy Saturday - these two will play one more time before season is over. These 3 teams, along with St. George's will be first four in this district. Lausanne from what I understand is hands down favorite in the other district (and in the over all region) and I think are followed by ECS. I am not sure of the other teams at top of that side. Maybe I can get some help from others.
  7. Does anyone care? Friday night at University School of Jackson vs Jackson Christian - packed house, great atmosphere. Kids played their hearts out with hustle and lots of class. Largest crowd I can remember in years and great to renew the rivalry. Girls game was 2 points difference, boys was 4 points. Yeah, we care. You would not be able to tell it from the coverage in Jackson Sun the next day, because the idiot reporter was too concerned about (evidently) a personal vendetta against one particular player. I can handle a bias against one school or another, but don't attack a kid personally. This guy should really lose his job over the article.
  8. ..Because of how the brackets were set up..the best Lake Co can play for is 5th place by losing the first game and the best for Northside is 3rd place but Northside and Lake Co both could beat Poplar Bluff in my opinion.! Two options for you: 1) To play for the championship - win your games! You got beat - deal with it. 2) Form your own tournament, draw up the brackets the way you want them, play the teams you want to in the first round and buy a BIG trophy for you to display at the end of the week. Actually I had 3, but quit whining would probably not go over too well so I will stick with two !
  9. Sounds like it just keeps going up the ladder. We have played a lot of ball over the years against a lot of teams and Obion seems to be the worst for playing dirty that we have ever played. From 4th grade, through jr. high and into high school. 4th grade coach told his girls to elbow ours in the mouth if they were guarding them too closely - Jr. High girls were elbowing in the back and taking cheap shots running down the court - guess these girls are just playing like they were taught.
  10. Just another slap in the face to Division II schools. I am longing for the day we tell them to stuff it, and form our own association.
  11. DA's defense was the best, by far, we have seen all year. No one has been able to shut our passing game down. Did not mean to make any accusation - my back yard is soggy also, but the field conditions did affect our ability to cut - but it was wet for both teams.
  12. ....ever had a completely dry field ?
  13. Surprised on this one - anyone at this game? Details?
  14. Not trying to be too argumentative, but point has to be made that these girls were a year older with Wild and had state tournament experience the previous year. Playing Juniors and Seniors with State Tournament experience is a huge difference that playing the same girls as Sophomores and Juniors. Bottom line - great group of girls that brought a lot of enjoyment and a state championship to a small town !!!
  15. That team consisted of: Jessica Henson (Union All American - Miss Basketball), Jennifer Henson (Union two time National Champion), Jenny Lannom (Miss Basketball - Played at UTM), Danielle Page (Played at UTM), Golden, and oh yeah - a freshman Meridith Richardson (2 time Miss Basketball). These girls had all been raised by David Russell and had played on the 98 state championship team and some on the 97 team that won state -------Wild had to have some talent, but not much with this crew....class A dream team. Agree with Movinonup - look what happened a couple years down the road. It was hard to see how down Bradford basketball got after 21 years of glory. Sorry, don't buy that the talent suddenly dried up after that period of time.
  16. Michelle graduated in 1993 with a state championship. Tonya's teams with state championships were 96, 97, and 98 which would have made her an 8th grader in 94, one year after Street graduated.
  17. (Copied from You Tube) High school senior Aric Simms, known as the team motivator, saw his first action in the final home game of the season last Friday night (October 23, 2009). In a game against Harding Academy, the Jackson Christian School Eagles ended their regular home season with a win. But the real winners that night were the fans and the truest example of sportsmanship I've ever witnessed. Note the first person to congratulate Aric on his touchdown. In case you miss it, it's a guy in the other color jersey. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=t8dkUN1ivMM No further words necessary - thanks guys, for showing us what it is truly all about.

  19. http://www.jacksonsun.com/article/20090615...LdGOatSVkIRY%3D Per Jackson Sun, Russell is interested. Hire him and finish the search. It will be the best thing for the girls, the team, and the future. Why look when you have the best under your roof???
  20. You know, at the end of the day, after all this discussion, some good and some bad, it is not going to change the way things are done with transferring and recruiting. I do not know Carly or her family so I will end my input on this board by just saying best of luck to her next year. What is easy to do is lose sight that this is a 16-17 year old girl that is changing schools with new friends, new teachers, a new coach, and overall a lot of adjustments. Change is hard enough for adults, much less a teenager with everything else going on at that age, and especially the expectations that will be put on this young lady to excel on the court. Best of luck to you next year, Carly. I hope the transition goes well for you.

  22. Seriously, honestly, are you comparing this thread and high school transfers to the Tennessee Vols, the Tennessee Titans, and YOUR CHURCH?? You are also saying that as long as they "produce a quality game to watch and are competive (sic) and display quality entertainment," you do not care where they came from. I understand you to say that to heck with my kids, grandkids, nieces, or nephews if they can't play ball, then tough, we need to get someone from the outside that can? Are you also saying that you welcome everyone into your church, but probably more so if you can bring home a championship? That is pretty much what I get from your post. Of course, with one long sentence and no punctuation it was sometimes hard to follow, but who needs English when you can bring home that gold trophy?
  23. Not debating your point, but also not sure if that is fact or not since I am no longer there BUT, to quote myself from a previous post, "I miss the days when the kids playing on your home town team were from your home town"
  24. I don't know that I would go that far. They are not hollow championships to the girls that worked hard and won them, and I think kids/parents (probably not in that order) moving schools for championships is becoming the norm, sadly, instead of isolated cases. There are more charges of "transferring" than I can count, some true and some probably not true. I am just afraid the days of the community school being able to compete are gone and that is a shame. There was just something so special about watching a kid grow up, learning to play in a pee-wee league, and then being there as a community when a State Championship was won by these same kids - kids that you remember the day they were born.
