  1. What are the odds of a public school winning a championship in 2A for the next 4 years. I'd bet the ponderosa that one of those 3 schools win the championship at least 3 of those 4 years. Trousdale is the only public school that might have a chance. Also someone posted the champions of the past few years, take out Alcoa (which several of those years was vs Goodpasture) is an open zone school. Does anyone want to wager on the chances of a public in the state this year? I doubt it, if there wasn't an advantage why are so many good athletes parents sending their kids to privates?
  2. I usually don't reply to post like this, but I can't reading quotes from a snobbish private school fan putting down a public school doesn't sit well with me. You see there are schools who have to play with what they have, they can't just go out and get an all-star team. How they made it to the semis last year was competing against public (playing what you got) teams like them. As you can tell I've have no use for privates playing DI. Not just because of the loss in the semis last year, but also loosing some of our atheletes to privates. You see a kid come up through the youth clubs, middle school, and then go to a private school in high school, because they are convinced they will get better exposure by going to private x. school. I have no problem with that, where I have the problem is privates in DI. I don't care what you or anybody else says it's NOT apples to apples. What I would like to see is the percentage of atheletes per student body is in the privates vs publics, Every kid I'm aware of leaving OZ and going to private school X played a sport in youth club, middle school, in high school at OZ, and were pretty good. So before you get on here putting down a bunch of kids, try walking in their shoes first.
  3. I'm sure it is, check their website I'm sure there will be plenty of pics, thats a pretty good recruiting tool.
  4. Didn't this game in the past feature more kids from small schools, all I see is 2 2A kids and 0 kids from 1A.
  5. IMHO the best example is Local Youth Club teams VS AAU traveling teams. My son has been involved in both. When he was 10 our local youth club had a very good basketball team, so we decided to play in a few local tournaments and did quiet well against other community teams. Our first experience against a true AAU traveling team was a 50 point loss. Two years later we decided to let him play for an AAU team, the results were the same except we were on the other side of the fence. We played in a few local tournaments and drilled some good local teams. The AAU experience was great, not because we drilled outmanned local teams, but when we played teams like us. IMHO public vs private is like local youth club team vs traveling AAU teams. In reality everyone on the AAU team could have played for a private school that was centrally located. The problem several parents including myself couldn't afford the tuition.
  6. Oh yea, extremely proud of these two young men. They had a great year and careers at OZ. It's hard to believe they're both seniors, just seems like yesterday these two were lined up in the backfield as 10 yr. olds in youth club. But time goes on, hopefully they'll have an opportunity to play at the next level, but if not they've got alot to be proud of. Also we remember the rest of the seniors because most of these kids were right there beside them in youth club and middle school too. Congradulations to all of the team on a great season it was a fun ride. Now you young'uns the weights are awaiting you, have a great offseason, work hard and lets keep this thing going. Also want to give a shout out to the kids from Oneida who made the team, looks like next year will be your year. Congradulations to all the young men who are selected all-state in all divisions.
  7. First let me thank all the good folks on here for your positive comments for our players from OZ. While we all hoped for a different outcome we are extremely proud of our kids. To the Friendship folks, congrats on a very good performance friday night, y'll have a heck-of-a-team. In previous post a reference was made about the comment our P A man made after the game, and someone said it sounded like sour grapes. While I wish he hadn't made the comment, if the announcer was who I think it was then I might understand, but still wish he hadn't said it. Without going into a lot of detail I'll just say we've had a couple of bad experiences with a private school in the area. His son's junior and senior basketball seasons were ended in the regional tournament by this team, which was found to have played inelegible players both years only to self report it after they were eliminated. So Friendship, if you have any ringers on your team fess-up now,(lol) otherwise good luck Saturday. While the loss still stings, it'll sound better when these boys tell their sons how close they were but lost to the State Champs.
  8. Thanks Champ, & Cleatless, man you all scare me to death. Because you always know when you play the Indians you better bring it for 4 qtrs. I still compliment you guys and your team because win or loose you all are first class people. Congradulations on a fine season and thanks for your well wishes, hopefully we can represent dist. 4 well next week. Pujo I saw someone with a Hampton jacket on at the game was that you?
  9. Why so much hate for OZ,I just don't get it. You're not a ref are you? TigerDog, you're not a coach for the Tigers who played for the Dogs in high school are you Brother? If you're not then my apologies. If you are then you really shouldn't officiate any OZ games if you feel that way.
  10. To my knowledge he has never been on the OZ staff. But I have met him and he doesn't seem anything like his brother.
  11. I feel your pain, they tell me the dude grew up in OZ, I don't remember him. I'm just glad he hates us!
  12. I couldn't have said it any better. Oneida has a very good and young team. They're well coached and a tough bunch. To the Oneida fans and parents that was one of the best atmosphere's I've been to in a long time, you have alot to be proud of. Sorry if we offended anyone by our celebration after the game, but it was just great to be able to hold on and get a win against a great program. Smash, Cleatless, Crow, and other posters from Oneida I know this stings (believe me I know how it feels) but I just want to commend you guys, you're some of the CLASSIEST posters on coach t. And being a parent from an opponent I appreciate how you guys post about the games without bashing the opposition, especially the kids. I'll be pulling for you guys the rest of the year (unless we meet again)lol. Keep up the PCC you have a lot to be proud of.
  13. Thoughts and prayers from OS, may God be close to this young man, his family, and community
  14. I believe Kingston wins this game handily, but dude, give OS a little credit. I think OS played you toe to toe and you all were very fortunate to come away with a win. Good luck the rest of the season, but sometimes the opposition has alot to do with the way you think your team may or may not look. Not slamming you but you're post don't seem to give OS any credit.
  15. To answer your questions, defense lost 2 starters that started every game, and 1 player that started a few games. I may be wrong but rumor has it that Coach Jones is comming back as the defensive coach. If I'm not mistaking he was the coach on some of coach Johnson's better teams. I don't know about being one of the favorites though. With what they have comming back they should have a pretty good team. But Coalfield is the defending champ so they should probably be the favorites. Nobody mentioned Sunbright or Oneida either but Sunbright (I think)didn't loose much. And I don't look for Oneida to have a re-peat of last year, they have too good of a program up there. Wartburg lost alot but you never know, nobody was talking about Coalfield that much last year at this time either. I don't know much about Oakdale or Jellico. Any way its almost time for spring practice to start. Then we might have a little better idea of who's got what. Good luck to all the teams and let's hope there aren't any injuries.
  16. Not trying to turn anything bro, I agree with Catback, I didn't know just tired of people getting on here running down our people because of the actions of a few. Every school has them, even your's. I,ve came up through the youth league, middle school, and now high school with my kids playing Wartburg and you have some fine folks who are affiliated with your program, but every team has a few who don't represent their team in a positive way. I certainly agree with your last line "there is no place for this in any sports". And you're right if that was the coach who was ejected, he is a good man, and for that matter is still someone that my son looks up when we play. Just don't put the whole program down because of a very few. Good luck the rest of the way.
  17. Why was a Wartburg assistant coach ejected? Yes our player deserved to be ejected, and that seems to be the popular topic. But what did the Wartburg assistant do? If we're going to get on here and talk about a lack of control of a kid, then let's hear why an adult was ejected.
  18. You're right there isn't a lot of people from OZ post on here. Most of the people who have posted in the past, their kid's have graduated. I read alot but very seldom post, but that doesn't mean I (we) don't care. My screen name says what I am, and being old school I don't believe in trash talking, it makes more sense to me to keep quiet and let your play do the talking. So we'll see you here Friday night. Have a good trip and support your kids. GO BOBCATS!!!
  19. Yes I was there standing at the fence had a great view of the so called fumbled snap. There was no snap should have been an offside. Wasn't close to the kickoff, but heard the OS players saying the Ref. saying" White ball, White ball, White Ball, get up guys". Only to have another ref to give the ball to Sunbright, yea it's over and when it comes down to it you'all get the W. But if the roles were reversed I don't think you would agree with your own analysis. I would say good luck the rest of the season, but right not I'm still pretty ticked.
  20. Kazzy, Smash Mouth and crew good luck next week. After the TSSAA views the film from last nights fiasco, hopefully those officials will never be given the privilege to step on the field again. And if are, then you'd better be up by more than 10 with 1 min 30 seconds to go in the game. (Reference back to 4th&goal first post, and that really did happen) I've been around for quiet a few years, and seen alot of games, but I've never seen anything like that. Our kids played their hearts out, to come back from that far down and have it TAKEN from you by grown men that are paid to ensure fair play, that's pretty sick! And I'll guarantee you the people from OZ will be the INDIANS biggest fans next Friday. GO GET "EM INDIANS!!!!!!!
  21. Hey Kaz, First I just want to congratulate the Indians on their victory, they played hard and didn't quit. But we did still move the ball in the second half, just couldn't score. I couldn't believe it but we had about as many yards in the second half as in the first. But I guess that goes to show stats don't mean much in the grand scheme of things, the main stat is the score, and you guys came out on top. I just hope our best lineman can make it back this week, it really hurt loosing him on the offense and defensive front. To the average person, loosing a stud up front might not be that noticeable but to someone that has lined up in the backfield (many moons ago in my case) its very noticeable. Not making excuses (because injuries are a part of the game) but if he doesn't get hurt in the 2nd qtr. maybe we could have given you guys a little better run in the second half. You all have a good team and I might add they seen to a be classy bunch of kids. I look forward to these two teams playing in the future, who knows, maybe next year we can get you all. Anyway, good luck the rest of the year.
  22. Dang guys why is everybody jumping on OZ. Pujo you said that was several years ago, why bring it up now. I've always enjoyed your post (at least up until now). And to answer your post Kaz, we lost all of our line from last year, four to graduation, and lost our only returning starter to an acl injury in the spring. I'm not going to say anything specific but catback might be referring to the little incident at the basketball sub-state game, but thats water under the bridge, and I know that you can't judge a whole community or school by the actions of a few. Good luck to the Indians, after friday of course. GO CATS.
  23. Prayers for this young man and his family from Oliver Springs.
  24. Thanks DL for the directions, 399 wasn't a bad road at all, I drive on much worse roads around here every day. Congrats to Grundy, we just couldn't seem to get a stop on defense when we really needed it. While a loss is never what anyone wants, the one positive that can be taken from this game is the kids didn't quit in spite of getting down early. I really thought we might have a chance in the second half, we seemed to be swinging the momentum our way, but couldn't get a big stop when we had to. That double pass for the last TD on 4th and 11, MAN if we can break that one up, but we didn't. Again congrats to the Yellow Jackets, and good luck the rest of the year
  25. What is everyone's thoughts on this one. And a question to the good folks from Grundy that came to our place last year, what is the best way for us to get there.
