  1. I don't think I am alone in being suprised that USJ is as competitive as they are. Yes Glover is putting up big numbers but the team as a whole is playing close games without the football players. USJ has played some 3 very competitive games so far this year.

    Stokes

two questions. Why would he not go back to Central but choose Southwind? Would it have anything to do with how underhanded some of the Memphis school coaches are. His whole move to Oak Hill was a smoke screen just like the Bobby Parks move to Melrose via Olive Branch. How do they get away with it?
  3. Don't overlook TAY TAY NEWBY and BTW
  4. Humboldt will always be Humboldt!
  5. LT has PG problems to over-come and Im not saying they want over-come them. They an impressive middle man and some outside shooters. They will miss Kendall this year.
  6. Stone Mt is one of the best teams at seeing the floor and getting the ball to the open man I have ever seen. They konw how to play team ball of for sure. They do not look like BB players at all. The bigger guy in the middle is very good but his height will hurt them against bigger teams. They will do very well against teams with low BB IQ but must not rely on the 3 so much. Really enjoyed watching them.
  7. Tyler Lewis is a NC State commit has also decided to go to OHA. Not sure what going on at OHA but they are really getting the players to sign on.
  8. Chipper Its not a matter of better. they are 3 different type of players and all 3 have very different strengths they bring to the floor. Stokes brings the same game to every game. Newby can be hot and warm from game to game. J3 is great player and enjoy watching him play.
  9. Hats off to John Ross Glover and Lipscomb for securing his services. The State of TN has had several other committs this week from middle TN including Craig Bradshaw from CPA, and Jack Montaque from Brentwood who is going to Yale. All these kids have worked hard and will head for the Super Showcase and AAU Nationals in FL or Super 64 in Vegas for the final time of their High School Career.
  10. IknowDII ???? ....You join these boards 1 week ago at time of post. Where have you been the last 3 years. Lausanne has been a guard oriented team for years just like Bolivar. They are very good. USJ beat them last year in playoffs but it could have gone either way. No team in the West was in same time zone as ECS last year they were a truly talented team. I agree with most of the other teams you mentioned as far as talent. St. George's coach has always been their greatest asset as is true with ECS. As far as Glover he is a talented young man and will go far with the game. I suggest you listen to people who have watched him that write on these boards. As to local colleges i am sure they would love to have him but not at the 5 which is where he has been playing for years in HS.
  11. I totally agree with Movinonup. ECS played like a monster machine and will have to have a very bad game to be beaten. USJ will be on their game today. Lookout Lipscomb!!!!
  12. Agree with some of these post and disagree with some other points. A good PG is the most under-recognized players for the most part in the media. Points scored by an individual player(s) means nothing but it gets the most attention. Give me a smart (floor general) point guard who can get the ball where it needs to be and he will score his points on a very good team most of the time. Give me a dumb point guard and he will have low scoring on a below average team. Recuiters have no tolerance for the do-it-all PG. They are looking for PG that leads the team and gets his team involved.
  13. TCA's pitcher Anna....last name makes her special...Renfroe!!
  14. I would suggest you express you vote for "Miss BAsketball" on on the Girls Basketball thread. You might get more response. Just think about it.
  15. What happened in this game that USN only scored 21 pts and no points in the 2nd Q according to the Tennessean?
  16. Since I;m on here might as well give my two cents. DIIA- John Ross Glover, USJ, Finalist last year DIIAA- David Howard, MBA DIA-Martin Smith, Clarkville Academy DIAA-Kendall Anthony, Liberty Tech DIAAA-Adonis Thomas, Melrose
  17. GCPioneer I know you know this but the other guys posting may not. John Ross Glover is the Juinor and EJ Miller is a Senior this year. Word is several of the Regional High Mid-Majors Universities are being seen at the USJ games. Hope the best for USJ.
  18. Below is the AP view point. It appears your poll does not represent USN as the sportswriters see them. By the way, the WEST DIIa appears to have 3 teams St. George, ECS, and University School of Jackson in the top 10 in the state. Mid and East DIIa seems to be left out in this poll. Any Reason you folks can think of? DII Ensworth (13-2) Father Ryan (12-2) MBA (8-4) Briarcrest Christian (11-6) USN (11-3) St. George's (9-4) USJ (10-5) CBHS (12-4) ECS (8-4) McCallie (9-3)
  19. Not sure who would be the other finalist but i would expect him to be a finalist again this year. Does anybody have any other possible finalist across the state?
  20. USJ as a team has improved greatly. As the team improves individually most of the time this will only make the John Ross Glover's and EJ Miller's of the world better. They are a very good passing, moving the ball team. This is different as of years pass. They have few turnovers in the set offense. As far as competition level it is a weak Division overall but when it comes to regional and substate play you will have very competitive teams in any Division. The difference is in depth. USJ, St. George, ECS Lausanne can put on the floor 5 players that can be competitive with any Division but the difference will be when these starters are resting. You have to rest them on the bench or they will rest on the floor. This is what separates the DII's and DI in my opinion.
  21. USJ won over Fayette Academy last night. I've seen them play better. EJ Miller and John Ross Glove continue to lead in Scoring but the team is really looking like they are playing together. sharp passing and moving on offense. Defense is good. Really didn't understand why the Fayette coach took Ethan Moffett out and set him so long in Second Quarter.
  22. I think it will be close but I think UC might pull off what will be viewed as an upset by 4pts.
  23. West TN folks would like to be enlighted also. I've watch Livingston several times and always thought he was an excellent coach and had very much the respect of his players. Maybe this is more arising out of "momma drama". "My son didn't make the team" or "my son doesn't get to play" etc etc. School boards and administrators need to let the coaches coach.
  24. NOt much of a game. CC was never in the game. Lot of room for improvement and they have some talent but not at level of Westview
