  1. Don't know about tricks except for exlax in the water and maybe spreading swine flu. Just kidding. I heard that Whitwell was putting in alot of spread plays and trick plays. They like the Cadillac formation with 2 recievers on one side and 3 on the other with no backs in the backfield except for Tucker. I would also expect some Oka Doke plays such as Hook and Ladder and Reverse Pass just to name a few. This is to try and throw the Defense off and keep Coach Wilson working a little. But hey what do I know. Good luck to both teams with no injuries for both.
  2. Congrats to both. They are both class acts on and off the court. Good Luck at the next level.
  3. Could they move Copper Basin over to District 6A? It has 3 1A football teams in: Whitwell, South Pitt, and Lookout Valley.
  4. KL, I talked with him today and he is not interested in it. He said that he will stay on as an assitant if the new coach wants him to. He never applied and never considered applying for it. So I guess the Hardee's breakfast table was off on this one. However I do know that the new head coach will be revealed sometime Friday. Whitwell starts their Spring Football camp on Monday and they are scrimmaging Bledsoe Co. the next Tuesday May 12. Good luck to the new coach and his staff. Get behind them and support your Tigers!!
  5. I am 95% sure the seeding was this: 1. Lookout Valley 2. South Pittsburg 3. Signal Mountain 4. CSAS 5. Sale Creek 6. Whitwell 7. Richard Hardy I dont know the schedule but LV recieveda bye and SP plays RH, SM vs. Whit., and CSAS vs. SC on Friday. Good luck to all teams.
  6. Is TayVaughn Wynn back for the Jackets or did he graduate?
  7. King I would say that Danny Wilson is pretty much a done deal for the SP girls job. If it is anybody else I would be shocked
  8. I have talked with them both and neither of them want it. Barton is heading up the Golf team next fall and is taking a break from football and focusing on Golf and Baseball. Thacker is just fine being an assistant and is busy with heading up the Boys Basketaball team. Brady who was the other assitant from last year is the interim head coach right now and has applied for the permanent head coaching job. Good Luck to him. I think he would be a great fit for the program.
  9. Applications are being accepted now and I believe interviews are being set up for the coming weeks. I have heard that 15 have applied already but that number may be incorrect. With it only bring put on TSSAA yesterday is promising. Good luck Tigers on your search for the next ball coach.
  10. Tim Taylor resigned Monday as head coach of the Whitwell Tigers. He informed the team of his decision on Tuesday citing personal reasons. For the Seniors this will be head coach number four for them ( Condra, Montgomery, Taylor and now ?). The TSSAA website has the job posted and says that teaching positions to be determined. Any ideas on who might be the next head coach?
  11. I think the SP job is a great one to have for whoever gets it. With that being said I don't see Coach W leaving Grundy either. She has built the girls program to argueably one of the best around. She had over 40 girls last year on her varsity and JV teams combined. Who knows though maybe the intrigue of coaching against all the valley teams in the same district gets her to jump.
  12. I have heard the same thing as well. She has connections to one of the football coaches. Don't be surprised also if another name that was there before comes back into the Pirate family from up I-75.
  13. I am pretty sure it is at Grundy this year.
  14. Whitwell won both the one from Tuesday was like 15-0 and the one on Thursday was 15-3.
  15. I would have to say Phillips at South Pittsburg and Thacker at Whitwell. Both love to break out the team color sport coats whenever they can. Especially when they play each other.
  16. Just talked to PG and the game is cancelled and rescheduled for Saturday. Don't know what time though
  17. If i am not mistaken it is up to the host school snd the host schools AD to decide on games being played while school is out. The Superintendant can help out in making a decision, I heard the two AD's from SP and MC got together and made the decision. The game is going to be played on a Monday but I dont know what date. Whitwell did go up to Signal Mtn. tonight but it was because Signal wanted to play and got permission from the Super in Hamilton County. He said that since school was closed because of the temperature and not because of hazardous weather conditions that the games in Hamilton County could go on as planned. The super in Marion was contacted and said it was ok for Whitwell to play tonight. Don't know if he was contacted about SP vs. MC
  18. Just heard that the games are back on. Scales has said since the reason schools were closed was because the cold weather this morning, he would let the games go on as scheduled.
  19. I believe that they are going to cancel all of them. I know for sure that Whitwell at Signal Mountain is cancelled.
  20. We will keep you in our prayers from your rivals up the road in Tigerland.
  21. I don't know about the complete schedule but SP 1st game in the new gym is next Friday Dec 12 vs. Whitwell.
  22. I think that the list goes this way: 1. South Pitt - With loads of talent and some good coachinng this team might give some of the Chattanooga teams a run for their money. 2. Sequatchie Co. - They are always ready to play and have some of the best coaching in the valley. 3. Marion Co. - I think their spot depends on whether or not Guyear plays or not. Coach Keef always has his team prepared and has great support from the community. 4. Whitwell - New coach and graduating five starters form last years team makes a difficult year for the Tigers. They will be one of the best working teams around if they buy into the new system. 5. Bledsoe - Same boat as Whitwell with a new coach and new system. Good luck to all teams
  23. I believe that you have to add Trevor Holland from Whitwell. He had back to back opening kickoff returns againist Sequatchie County and Lookout Valley. He also is one of the area's top punters and is only a freshman. Honerable Mention to Nick Sartin at LB. Leads the team in tackles and one of the top recievers
  24. This one should be a good one in the valley Friday night. Homecoming for MCHS and homecoming for 75% of Whitwell' coaching staff. I know that they have been working hard to try and change the attitude in Whitwell and are making progress. But like PurpleGrad said it takes time and hoefully the administration and the community will give Tim the support he needs. As far as getting Tim better assitants... I sure that if anyone stepped up and asked to help they would be more than happy to have them. All four coaches do it for the love of the game and the love of the children. I believe that this one will be closer than most people think. The team that controls the ball the best and manages turnovers will be the winner. Good luck to both teams and hope all the players come out healthy
