  1. This is insane!! 9 teams in that region only leaves 1 opening for a big gate (in county rival or whatnot)!!
  2. Was that when Lewis Co. bumped up to 3A? I don't remember Pulaski to ever be in 2A. I really don't care either way. I'm just enjoying the posts and wanted to interject.
  3. I was fortunate to play for Coach Toner a long time ago. I was a waterboy for the 2 teams mentioned but know that the playoffs hadn't expanded yet and region losses were huge. I was on the field for the 1995 team and we lost to David Lipscomb in a battle that was much tougher for them than the rest of the road. We had a pretty good team the next season also. LOL. Lots of hard work but fun times I wouldn't change for much of anything!!
  4. Loretto is coming into this season with a new head coach and a very different offense. It will be interesting to see how they come out Friday night with the crazy preseason.
  5. I have been fortunate to see both teams this season. If the best teams show up, this will be a super fun game to watch! But, if the bad teams show up this game will be a ton of turnovers and penalties. Waverly has a real good line and Summertowns is decent but quicker than you would expect them to be. If you have ever played against Summertown in ANY sport you know what I mean when I say that they play like Summertown. I really like the play of Waverly QB and he is a good manager of the offense while the QB at S'town is young he is a tough nut. I feel that discipline will be a factor. Both are good teams but it will be a lot closer game than most expect.
  6. Loretto MUST win to have a chance.
  7. Division I, Class 2A, Region 5 1 2 3 4 Summertown wins, Forrest wins, Eagleville wins Forrest Lewis Co. Eagleville Summertown Summertown wins, Forrest wins, Loretto wins Forrest Summertown Lewis Co. Loretto Summertown wins, Lewis Co. wins, Loretto wins Lewis Co. Forrest Summertown Loretto Forrest wins, Community wins Forrest Lewis Co. Eagleville Summertown Lewis Co. wins Lewis Co. Forrest Eagleville Summertown
  8. I have to agree with this except that Loretto does play a lot of players both ways. What seems to be a downfall for Loretto is that they don't make good in game changes nor changes at half. The QB from loretto is hard nosed and they have a freshman running back that runs well but only sees mop up duty unfortunately. They also have 2 WRs that are tall and can go up and get the ball at times. Their linemen are big but have a bad habit of standing straight up and getting blown off the ball. Loretto seems to lose discipline in the latter parts of the game and that could be a huge decider if the game is tight. I am for Loretto but it will be a tough game on the road.
  9. I understand. I just misread the standings. Sadly, sending teams to the playoffs with records like they have seems to really water down the playoffs. I guess whatever pays the best for T$$AA is what works.
  10. I must have misread something somewhere or looked at the rankings on Coach T regional schedule while I was asleep. Lol. With records like that I personally feel that neither should make the playoffs. I wish it was like it was back when I played.
  11. How would Loretto be going to the playoffs with a win? They are 5th in the region and have horrible loses to everyone except Community and Summertown beat them by 1
  12. Carr is a Sophomore and I think he just got hit wrong. Turf fields now are very lifelike and aren't like the old carpet turf. I have heard that Dale will take over at QB but they also have a few others that may get their chance too.
  13. I am hoping this turns out to be a good game and not lopsided.
  14. I've come across some that can't spell their name without a spell checker!! LOL Their QB Carr. He is fast and has a decent arm. It will be interesting to see what they do to replace him. They have other athletes but he was the best at that position.
  15. I think Forrest rolls in this one. LCHS key player is out with a torn ACL and the wins they have had this year have come over 2 2A schools and a 6A school that hasn't had a .500 season since at least 2001. I hate to be negative but it's just the truth.
  16. Would it be ok if the Xsports guys came to toss a bag or 2??
  17. I feel that with Huntland coming to play Summertown at home(or LCHS, Hendrix Staggs Stadium) with a crowd that was as loud and big as the one they had for the Zion game the Eagles can pull off another win. Huntland dropped their opener against a very good Forrest team that hasn't given up any points this season. They were beaten in their second game by a Fayetteville team that lost to FRA that beat Columbia Academy as well. I will have to put my chips on Summertown!!!!
  18. No worries Reporter. I played at Loretto and I do agree with the fact that maybe the level of class and level of play has dropped (I played under Butch Toner). I wasn't sure that you were aware of the rivalry between the two schools. The boys in blue have beat up on Loretto, and other schools lol) in other sports. I think the rivalry emotions carried a little too strong after that game but nobody wants to be a schools first ever varsity win. Summertown has a wonderful fanbase (many are dear friends of mine) that can be a little on the nasty side as well. I think any and every team has those fans!!!!I have seen the goods, bads, and uglies at Loretto and the cycle always changes. It just seems like the terrible side of that cycle stays around longer than anyone wants.
  19. I think I will chime in on this. First and foremost, Loretto is a very young team with MOSTLY sophomores in the starting rolls. They have struggled in the past few years and a win, no matter who the opponent is, is a good win. Loretto just lost their starting QB and starting DB with their 2nd string QB having leg surgery the same day. Summertown and Loretto have had a great rivalry in every sport they play against each other. Maybe if you were from the area, STownEagleReporter, you would understand the rivalry. Being the "Reporter" you are I guess you have simply forgotten media etiquette such as pointing out teams. Summertown may win another game OR two this season and Loretto is looking to not win ANY more games this year. Waverly is a well coached team and should roll on to the playoffs pending on how the games between Hickman Co. and Lewis Co. go. Of course, playoff time is a different story!!!
  20. Zion Christian is (as listed on Coach T) a Division 2 Class A school. They have Ezell-Harding and Mt. Juliet Christian listed as being their region opponents.
