  1. How many Timeouts were called on special teams by sweetwater?? The final drive was 8 passes that went for roughly 63 yards in a minute and a half… the last time out was called at 1:02. With 30 seconds left from the meigs county 29, sweetwater chose to run 3 straight running plays with no timeouts…which resulted in a net +5 Yards and a rushed 47 yard field goal with 2 seconds left on the clock… how can you think that’s not mismanaging the end of the game?
  2. Hard to place the blame anywhere but Sweetwater’s coaching staff. Terrible special teams, bad game management, and leaving players in the game that are visibly struggling from a physical standpoint. Highly impress with the pure determination Meigs played with. It was a good example of how a team with good conditioning and pure determination is always in the game.
  3. Coalfield does have lights, but it was my understanding that both teams had players saying they could not see line drives off the bat. They've moved the tournament to Oliver Springs
  4. Wartburg Oneida suspended for darkness in the top of the fifth. Wartburg-4 Oneida-9
  5. From an umpires point of view... With a runner on first or first and third, the position you described is the correct position for the field umpire whose sole purpose is to watch the pitcher for a balk until the pitch is made or a pickoff it attempted. The 45 degree is an understood baseball norm. If you look at rule 6-2-4 ( it states any movement by the non pivot foot that is not directly towards a base when fainting is a balk. So the 45 degrees works in your favor. Anything not directly to first according to the rule book can be pegged.
  6. Both these teams will have a shot at state, because District 4 is pretty weak this year.
  7. GCA.. Gonna Cheat Always... Why would a kid sit out an entire season, just to play Single A post season baseball? And you say, "Oh, we pitched a 15 year old kid the entire game." I can remember times in District 3 and 4 A that 70% of the team that the school furnished was 15. Also, there has been teams in Both District 3A and 4A that could "score 50" on district rivals, but out of respect they don't. You pitched a kid that hadn't pitched much in a game? Almost every year each team in Both these districts are forced to pitch a kid that has never pitched before, because most teams have 2 maybe 3 decent pitchers. And just calling it station to station makes me upset for some reason? It's a base not a station. Good luck to Grace at State, granted they make it there. You will need it.
  8. According to your explanation, No infield fly rule should have been called because it seems that it was a little nubber off the handle or the end that falls behind the pitcher. But to me it played out for hitting team, runners on 2nd and 3rd with two outs is a little better than 1st and 2nd, so it seems the umpires were in a sticky situation but Umpires will stick together and support each others calls so as an umpire they made the right calls.
  9. Oh yes Bow to Coalfield... Give me a break... They pretty much split in football and baseball if you look at a span over multiple years. Plus, It must be nice to get those kids to move to coalfield to play football and baseball... They have such beautiful landscape and such great attractions to an 18 year old... Coalfield needs to accept the fact they are not Sport Kings of Morgan County like they believe they are.
  10. I agree with everything you said Thrilla Besides Urban Meyer did win with Ron Zook's players ha...
  11. My fault, I thought Coalfield went last year, which on second look they didnt. But I took stats from 05 because the other coaches have been there since 05 and to look at the last 3 years is unfair to their whole body of work at their schools. Check the other stats, they are very close. JD made it to one state tournament with a team of 6 seniors (4 Starters) and a few junior ( 1 had started for 2 years already) under DD. It's like Urban Meyer and Florida, yeah he won in his first year but with someone elses developed talent. And the "stupidest post" i've ever seen on coacht was when bulldogplayermom posted that the 2010-2011 Wartburg team was better than Clarkrange because they made the substate and Clarkrange didn't even though Clarkrange beat them by 46. If you look at their whole bodies of work Christopher is #1. She doesn't have near the talent as Wartburg and Oz almost won last night. You can't say oh they went to sub state. Since 07 District 4A has had 2 teams in sub state. It's all about trips to the boro
  12. Bulldogplayermom... Stick to your name. Be a mom, don't post on coacht like a high schooler, or if you do at least sound smart. Consulting the middle school coach? Hmmm... I heard he's a real winner. Maybe he was asking on how to discipline? All aside, Wartburg will win tonight, Way too much talent wearing blue not enough wearing purple and gold. Who's the best coach in the district? Let's look at "succuess rate". Looks to me like Christopher, but I guess I'm a numbers guy. Coalfield- 3 Trips to the state since 05..... Record since 05- 117-82 (58%) Won a Region Oliver Springs- 4 Trips to the State since 05...... Record since 05- 150-77 (66%) Won 5 District 3 Regions Wartburg- 1 Trip to the State since 05.... Record Since 05- 114-84 (58%) Won a District and a Region Oakdale- None...... Record since 05- 139-74 (65%) Won a Region.
  13. Could you elaborate on the comment about facility problems?? And I agree Malicoat has been the best player in district 4A for two years, but theres only so much one kid can do. Should be a good one Tuesday night... Wartburg and Oneida is always a good game
  14. Thank you coach jeffers, and I didn't say alex fountain wasn't good But top 3 is unlikely... Just two names Here nick king and jonathon Williams the third both juniors in Tennessee both top 60 in the country... He might be top 3 in east Tennessee but not the state, west basketball is alot better
  15. Thanks, but days and times was what I was meaning. And Fountain is top 3 juniors in the state?? Ah... I strongly doubt that.
  16. Could someone post a tournament Bracket. Or just a running list of games would be sufficient.
  17. Wartburg is not my team. haha. I was just saying they'd win because every other team graduated the biggest majority of their talent, and Wartburg kept the majority of their talent.
  18. It's Wartburg's district to lose, but sadly sub-state is the farthest they'll go. But you can almost chalk up sub-state because District 3 is terrible and District 4 won't be much better this year.
  19. Guess that's why no one has beat them there in like 30 years. Obviously it's something about being up there because no one can beat them there with a shot at state on the line. And I find it hard to believe they weren't very good, they had a kid get drafted by the Rangers. So they obviously had some talent.
  20. No one beats Unaka at Unaka. Wartburg couldn't do it in 2009, and that team was much better than this year's Wartburg team. Simple as this, if you want to go to the state tournament out of Region 2, you either win the region or hope Unaka loses because no one wins at Unaka in Sub State games. Plus if anyone from District 4 wants to have a shot at sub state, they're going to have to play better teams because it was obvious this year that District 3 was a whole lot better. It seemed like they had 4 teams that would have won District 4.
  21. I've played on 3 teams in the past 3 years (1 high school, and 2 college teams) and none of my schools have had lights. They are strictly to expensive for most schools especially programs that are forced to barely make ends meet because the school won't help them. One of the college teams I played for was Cumberland University reigning NAIA Champions and they have the nicest field around and Coach Hunt has been there a long time. Not having lights does not make the field less presentable it just means you can't play games past 8 o clock.
  22. The point is not about players being disrespectful, the point is the officials gave an 8 point advantage to a team over an untucked jersey.(the kid made 8 out of 10). You can watch a game and watch kids say every word imaginable and very rarely are technical fouls called for foul language unless directed at the official. Officials do not like to be "shown up". Neither do coaches or players. Players and parents should respect officials because parents have the same opportunity to ref basketball if you so wish. If you think the officials are so bad then File the paperwork and get the 50 dollars a game to have everyone in the gym hate you. The officials are there to keep high school games from turning into a riot because half the people there would fist fight if there were no consequences. Should the kid have shot 10 free throws? No, I do not think so, but the officials did what they felt was right and the T$$AA will review the sequence of events I'm sure and if the referee's were out of line then correct actions will be made.
  23. Easy Win? If I remember correct it took a 20 point effort by Goodman in the fourth quarter, two missed dunks, 30 missed Ft's by Harriman, and 1/3 of Harriman's 3 good players to foul out for Wartburg to pull away. I'm surprised Dishman didn't play more? He drove the dagger in Wartburg last year. Why did he not see more action?
  24. As you said, Wartburg's reserves not only kept them in the game but won the game. Third quarter was completely dominated by Harriman. If Gallahar completes the dunk of Fountain, that game completely shifts in Harriman's favor. There was a couple signs of selfish play from Wartburg at times, but they were able to avoid falling into that rut. Wartburg's reserves played better defense than the starters, if only they could have executed better on the offensive end. Wartburg was very impressive, not talent wise but depth wise. It actually played in Wartburg's favor for Goodman to be in foul trouble because he scored like 20 points in the fourth quarter because he had fresh legs. Overall you could take away two things from this game. 1. These two are the two most exciting teams in the Region and 2. This game will be completely different next time they play.
  25. Yeah, I guess that's why all these Wartburg Fan's showed up on here two months ago. And everyone knows that Boyd did like South Pittsburg did last night. They got their lead and they put it on cruise control. If they would have wanted to gain 900 yards, they might have been able to. And I attended all the games during the 32 game losing streak, and it was a social event for people to see their old buddies. No one was hollering, unless it was something negative. And I have been a fan of Wartburg, and will continue to be a fan of Wartburg reguardless of their record. I remember fans leaving at the start of the fourth quarter after coming to watch D1 talent, the only true fans were the parents and a few of the kids from the high school that had buddies playing because as the team walked off the field those were the only ones to stand there and pat them on the back and tell them good job now there's a line to the locker room, and I assure you I was one that patted after losses, and I patted after wins this year. Like they use to say during prayer "Humble in Victory, Proud in Defeat". A lot of Wartburg fans this year were Proud in Victory and MIA in defeat.
