You never want to see guys out for any team on State Championship weekend, so for he and the sport of wrestling hopefully he is in the lineup. On paper with or without him, Baylor looks to be the slight favorite in DII.

TN Wrestling Coach's Poll for 27 January 2025-Pre Duals Edition
SportsTNFan replied to ArtusCimber's topic in Wrestling Mat
Good feedback. And once again, as we have said for years, “thank you,” for the rankings through out the season! It is very much appreciated in the wrestling community across the state of Tennessee. -
For sure! Also, Andy Fowler who is a great guy and coach from WC took the Friendship Christian Academy job, so there will be another option for some of those kids in that area to wrestle.

TN Wrestling Coach's Poll for 27 January 2025-Pre Duals Edition
SportsTNFan replied to ArtusCimber's topic in Wrestling Mat
Thanks for posting! Always fun to discuss this time of year. We all know that the only thing that matters is the TSSAA Dual State Championship this weekend at the Ag Expo to find who are the top teams. #1-8 looks pretty close, and will be decided this weekend. How does #9 and #10 get ranked in that order? #9. MBA was NR on 1/20, and lost to Father Ryan 53-19 and moved into the Top 10 after not being ranked. #10. Collierville was #9, and then beat Arlington, Houston and Kirkwood, then dropped a spot to #10. -
MBA has hired DC Chris Chauvin as their next Head Coach.
-
Baylor did not get this memo.
-
No Comes brothers from Seymour? Did they officially transfer to Lakeway?
-
I believe he was from South Carolina, trained with a crew in Chattanooga, but had planned to wrestle at a National powerhouse when he hit HS.
-
The Pulley’s recently made the move from Middle Tennessee to be a part of the Cleveland Program and will be a nice addition to a loaded class.
-
Blackman has won the last two AAU Club State Titles. Bosken was on CoachT giving them props on this message board last year, so despite the poster, there is respect from their coaching staff.
-
It sounds like Baylor was able to accommodate his request to have the ability to graduate early and enroll at Tennessee in January.
-
Are the Admin that were employed when Dilfer and Mawae were head coaches and the, “alleged infractions,” took place still on staff at Lipscomb? Is Mawae the only person at Lipscomb who “resigned,” during the Deuce situation or were there others? (I have not followed closely)
-
Good info. The plan for G-Mac and UT Coaching Staff is for him to be on campus in January of 2025 as a student at the University of Tennessee.
-
Has there been discussion on how G-Mac is going to enroll early at Tennessee? Will this be his last week of high school basketball and BA allow him to graduate early, so he can enroll at Tennessee next January?
-
Just got back from the Ag Center and just clicked on NFHS to watch the replay and it will not play?
-
Done! Thank you, @oceansize42

I think you are lumping me into the wrong crowd or taking my comment out of context. I have posted three times, and I said I had respect for HCWC, coaches should be paid, and that you made a great investment for your son and his wrestling future. My comment about the funding/donations was intended to say that the program had not been at a high level until the most recent staff took over and got all the kids in the area back in the wrestling room which you and your family (like many others) are benefitting from. It’s great for wrestling in the State.
-
Sir. Respectfully. If you and your son are there for “coaching and partners,” (which I agree are top notch) it is because of the funding/money that was raised (and matched by a donor) that pay the coaches who went out and brought in the kids which they now teach, coach and motivate at a high level. Your family is receiving those benefits due to the funding that paid the Club Coaches salary (Only 2-3 Clubs in the state do that). It’s a great investment by HCWC and you as a father to your son. Like I mentioned in my first post in this thread, hats off and respect to how the program has evolved and rolling.
-
For the record, I am in favor of coaches being paid (I would pay them too) for the time spent during the season. Just asking for clarity on where the fee goes.
-
For clarification, because every club across the state is different. Where does your $250-500 for the club season go if you are paying for gear, travel and every event? Does that go to coaches?
-
Hats off and respect to all programs, coaches, parents and local businesses that help raise money to support Wrestling in the State of Tennessee! The sport is booming, and will continue to get better. Do Club Programs have to pay to use the Wrestling Facility or is that donated by the school/city? Do coaches run clinics in the facility and keep proceeds from clinics/camps from attendees, which is income or donated back to the Club Program? How much are the Club coaches paid? There are probably 2-3 Clubs that pay their coaches in the State of Tennessee. (That # will increase in the future, and some of the coaches are doing a phenomenal job and have earned that pay-check for their Programs) Cost for Wrestling: AAU Card/Membership Singlet/Shoes Travel to Tournaments (Entry fee for fans)

TN Wrestling Coach's Poll for 5 February 2024
SportsTNFan replied to ArtusCimber's topic in Wrestling Mat
Did Ryan and Summit wrestle in any Tournaments other than the Drennan Tournament this season? In that Tourney Ryan finished 3rd (without Tran and Lemaota), Brentwood finished 5th and Summitt 7th (without Demorest and Posey).
