  1. Anyone else hearing Mawae’s job is on the line at LA this week?
  2. 106: Cordero (Cleveland) 113: Tran (Father Ryan) 120: Uhorchuk (Signal Mountain) 126: Uhorchuk (Signal Mountain) 132: Little (Summit) 145: Askew (Baylor) 152: Leach (Summit) 160: Norman (Baylor) 215: Szymborski (Cleveland)
  3. Incoming Baylor transfer from Dobyns Bennet, Max Norman won the, “WNO Most Outstanding Wrestler.” https://www.instagram.com/p/CxlasMMLVIN/?igshid=MzRlODBiNWFlZA==
  4. So they were cool with Mawae taking the transfer and letting him play over the projected starter even though he was not committed to the school or program while their guy watched from the sidelines? Sounds like they have battled through some team chemistry issues. Lots of football left!
  5. Deuce is gone… https://www.tennessean.com/story/sports/high-school/2023/09/05/deuce-knight-transfers-lipscomb-academy-mississippi-high-school-football/70772000007/
  6. Informative AI generated post by some bot about UTC Wrestling.
  7. Thanks, @BobCorker . Are you saying in this particular example (it can be used with other student-athletes and teams across the state), that the Admissions Team on Monday morning checks their inbox and sees two wrestling All American applications from another TSSAA school. Then they call the Head Coach to surprise him with the news that the two wrestlers and their family randomly decided to apply to the school and program over the weekend?
  8. Agreed 100% on the staff at DB and TNWA in East Tennessee! Future is bright for that program! To your message, NormanDad. When “opportunities open up for the kids,” how does it happen? In this situation referenced, does a parent call Baylor to see if they can be accepted and be part of the program? Does a Baylor coach talk to the kid who is already enrolled and on the roster of another TSSAA school? (NCAA references that as “tampering,” but not sure the TSSAA cares) Does a Baylor Club coach set up the connection and work between the parent and high school? It looks like the 2023-24 TSSAA season will have a record number of transfers across the state in all different sports. Just curious how it all plays out. (You can change out the name “Baylor,” and insert a number of schools in this situation this season, especially with the law that was passed for, “Name, Image and Likeness,” in Tennessee)
  9. If true, they are also rumored to have another top national kid from Ohio too.
  10. Wow! At one Tournament during the season a coach was telling fans that he thought he would end up at Cleveland.
  11. Does that also include a couple of kids outside their club that are potentially coming from the Cookeville Wrestling club and boarding next season?
  12. @durdon has posted that McCallie is about to be back competing at a high level in DII. It will be fun to see them and Baylor going at it again! ”There has been a change at McCallie administration and now all sports especially wrestling are getting love again. McCallie has the best coaching staff in the state with Yost, Pitts, Leavit, Newman and the rest. And now they are loading up with a massive class of freshman that have already said they are coming in and possibly of a few more they still may get. McCallie is going to be on top again here soon.” - Durdon

  16. Thanks for the response. I respect your opinion, and did not see the call in question and was appreciative of feedback.
  17. I do not know the answer, but it looks like he was taking up for one of his wrestlers, so I was curious about the call. Allan Jones would happily write the check for that fine as they will add to the state championship trophy case again this year.
  18. What happened at 160 with Fowler and McTorry? 2022 medalist Cy Fowler fought back from a loss in the semifinals and will go for a third-place medal against Clarkville's Jack Stein. “He (Fowler) lost in the semifinals, to an official,” said Knox. https://www.chattanoogan.com/2023/2/24/464715/Cleveland-Leading-Class-AA-State.aspx
  19. A potential state champ missed weight by .1???!?!!??????
  20. Any more discussion before the DII Traditional State Championship Tournament starts tomorrow in Nashville?

  23. Has anyone heard rumblings of LA talking to Scott Wells about joining the football staff and restarting the wrestling program?
  24. DII has not been updated since 1/27, so they have not made any changes to their rankings since then.
