  1. I watched Greeneville scrimmage West Ridge and against Knox Central. They put up 5 or 6 TD in maybe 20 plays against WR. They have speed everywhere, good running backs, a couple of good quarterbacks, size along both sides of the LOS and are well coached. I've seen D-B live against Central and Lord Botetourt in scrimmages. I saw the film of the Anderson Co scrimmage and saw them live against THS. Our grandson plays for D-B. We are rooting for the Tribe. That said, I'll go with Greeneville....by a lot.
  2. Won't matter in this one. Murville will name the score.
  3. There will be a running clock in this one. Probably late 2nd quarter.
  4. I watched D-B scrimmage with Knox Central and Lord Botetourt, and saw the film of their scrimmage with Anderson Co. They struggled with multiple things in all of those scrimmages, but record wise, D-B is still where I thought they'd be at this point. IMO WR will be the best team they've faced so far in the regular season and I think WR will probably hang around for the better part of 3 quarters with D-B pulling away late. The atmosphere should be electric.
  5. Ease up? Powell and West aren't better than Alcoa or Murville. I've seen both, and I consider that to be in the Knoxville area.
  6. I'll go with Greeneville being the 4th best team in the state, behind Oakland, Murville and Alcoa, but I admit that outside of Oakland, I really don't know much about any teams west of Knoxville. Worthy of stepping on the field with Greeneville? That's a lot of hyperbole, but Elizabethton and Powell wouldn't roll over and play dead. If they played Powell and there was a betting over/under, definitely take the over. I don't see anyone in 4A stopping them though. Their best team ever? I'd go with the team that had the Carmichael kid at QB and/or the last 2 Ballard QB'd teams. Those teams were brutal. I've seen this Greeneville team scrimmage West Ridge and play Knox Central. They hung 5 or 6 TD on West Ridge in probably less than 20 plays, and dominated Central as well. While they don't have a big power back like Hall or Spradlin, they have an excellent passing game and tons of speed that opens up running lanes for Gudger. It's an outstanding team.
  7. It's bizarre how many of these "schools" are popping up. Last night we were going to watch Surge Academy play Treasure Coast, but it was postponed until Monday because of some massive (even by south Florida standards) thunderstorms. Surge is in their 2nd year of life as a school and football and will probably get crushed by Class 8A top 10 Treasure Coast. Unlike Beacon Hill Homeschool, they at least have a website. Last year, they went 0-5 and were outscored 161-14.
  8. Yeah, what happened at Greeneville was unavoidable. I was just pointing out that I had seen WR and while they couldn't do anything with Greeneville, I was impressed with the roster and the fan support they got for a scrimmage. IMO they will be the Tribe's best opponent to date.
  9. I think WR can hang around for awhile, but D-B will eventually pull away. I saw WR scrimmage Greeneville and it was great to see the large roster and enthusiasm. Hope they continue with that.
  10. D-B will win by 3 scores, but WR will probably be the best team they've played at this point. The atmosphere should be electric. That's the biggest thing I miss about games in East TN and SWVA. Outside of a couple of places down here, high school football crowds are mostly a parents and couple of hundred or so students affairs, with most of the students there to socialize.
  11. The Tribe is 3-0, and that's where I expected them to be.
  12. Probably not, but they might provide the strongest test of the season before Greeneville. The atmosphere should be electric. That's the biggest thing I miss about football down here. Aside from 1 or 2 places, the "crowds" are mostly parents and some students who are way more interested in socializing than football.
  13. IMG is playing Miami Northwestern. Heritage is playing St Thomas Aquinas. Scheduling is tougher than you think these days. This Beacon Hill outfit sounds a bit like Bishop Sycamore. They've played at Choctaw, OK and Cincinnati Elder, being outscored 113-0. It's bizarre that you can't find any info at all about them, and you wonder how the heck they are paying for travel.
  14. Well...IMO, those three teams aren't what I would call good. THS hasn't played but once due to Covid, so it's a little harder to gauge them. I think Crockett will be the best team D-B has played to this point, but I think the Tribe will still handle them fairly handily. I think next week's game against West Ridge will present a much bigger challenge before heading down to Greeneville, where....well...I don't even want to think about it right now.
  15. I'm sure it is. Still don't think D-B has any trouble with them.
  16. Yes, I said I understand why the rule is in place. I just hate that it takes snaps away from kids who don't get much playing time.
  17. While I understand the intent, I don't like the mercy rule because it takes away playing time from the kids who don't get to play much.
  18. Letcher Central got smoked 48-7 last night by Pikeville. Granted, Pikeville is a really good Class A team, but still, I don't see D-B getting much of a challenge in this one. Tribe 38 Crockett 10
  19. They're doing it here in South Florida too. I love it. No more standing in line behind people at the ticket window who want to chat with Mr. or Ms. Whoever. Just get your phone scanned and continue walking in with barely breaking stride.
  20. Motown East might be a little better than Volunteer, but.... Tribe 35 Motown East 14
  21. I saw West Ridge in the Greeneville scrimmage and they were overwhelmed by Greeneville's speed and passing game as Greeneville ripped off 6 TD in what was probably only around 20 plays. Science Hill isn't Greeneville, but they do have some speed and a passing game. SHHS 35 West Ridge 21
  22. Heading back home to Florida on Wednesday. I'll have to keep up with SWVA and East TN online with NFHS while going to games down there. Hope to see Cocoa at Vero Beach this Friday night and Treasure Coast at American Heritage in Fort Lauderdale on Saturday night. Heritage was ranked #8 in the nation in one preseason poll I saw.
