  1. Thanks. I remember that young lady playing club last year until sometime in September. Actually, I think Hutchison was her first game back. I got to see a little bit of BCS in the preseason. They looked pretty good from what little I saw. I know you all graduated some good players, so I am assuming that you are experiencing the youth movement as well?
  2. Maybe because I was looking for a real answer, not sarcasm. I honestly do not know enough about St. Mary's to venture a guess. I know that they had improved last year, but I am unaware of their losses to graduation. I believe their top scorer or two are still there, but not sure. Hutchison has talent, but its mostly young and they are still working in a new system under a new coach. Most are back or are due back from preseason injuries, so they are a little better off than they were just a week ago in that respect. I am sure the field will play a factor to some degree. The turf will play faster and the bounces take some getting used too. That was something Hutchison learned in a hurry last year in the substate @ Father Ryan. What games does Collierville have coming up? Any big ones?
  3. Pretty solid IMO. I think that 1-3 are really strong picks. 4-10 could probably be and probably will flop around a bit as the trials and tribulations of the season take effect. I would think that ECS and Harding, based on recent year's would be in that mix for top 10 as well. St. Mary's at #7 peaks my interest a little. I am guessing they did not lose much from last year? SG not lose too much as well? Your pick: Week 2 - St. Mary's @ Hutchison - opening game @ Hutchison's new expansive turf field.
  4. Wow, I am glad that based on one statement, you already assume that you know I think. I am fully aware that all teams have injuries. I was simply stating the facts for that particular game. Most of those kids will be back before the season starts or early in the season. I was in no way taking anything away from C'Ville as they are a very solid team. And for the record, I have no problems with the MS Private Schools playing 7th and 8th graders. We have played 8th graders on the Varsity before. These same teams have been coming to this preseason tourney for years now, playing young kids each year, and I have not heard to much about it. If that is what they have to do to field a team, then more power to them.
  5. Final was 5-0. With all do respect to Collierville, I am not sure how indicative the score is of either team. Yes, Hutchison is a young squad, but they were without 6 players, 5 of which were starters from a year ago, to injury/illness. With 2 of the 6 being the #1 and #2 keeper, they were forced to insert a freshman with little to no experience into the goal after only a couple of days practice. To her credit, she made a couple of nice saves.
  6. Says the person who is in a thread hating on Greenbrier.
  7. Congratulations! Briarcrest will look forward to playing on it! Briarcrest still has, in my humble opinion, one of the best soccer fields in the city with a good field, ample seating, and the nice new soccer fieldhouse recently built. Looking forward to the Fall season! Thanks! Briarcrest no doubt has a first class facility. I am just looking forward to us having stable field conditions, no matter the weather (too many rainouts this past year). It should have all the modern amenities that Briarcrest and other newer facilities have.
  8. Hutchison School in Memphis is began the process last week of adding another multi-purpose Soccer/Lacrosse Field to its campus. The new field will be made of artificial turf and feature a larger playing surface and improved seating for fans. The field should be ready in time for the 2010 Soccer season.
  9. Caroline Webb of Hutchison has picked up a scholarship offer from Ole Miss. No word on whether or not she will accept it.
  10. I believe that recently, they have ran a wide open passing offense. The coach, who is that AD and basketball coach as well was quoted as saying it was time to move on. He has been there for a long time. Most of his family has worked there although a couple of them went else where a year or two ago. Do not know much about players or coaches that will be retained.
  11. Has Darkwa been cleared to play from his injury? I have heard conflicting reports.
  12. Sorry I'm just now answering. MUS is probably one of the best HS football teams I've seen play. I'm young, only 21, but I've watched alot of good high school football teams in Tennessee and MUS is probably one of the best I've seen. I heard someone up behind me mention that QB Barry Brunetti might be the best QB out of Memphis in 20-25 years. He played with a pulled groin muscle the other night and still played extremely well. If you guys remember Pat White that played QB for West Virgina a couple of years ago....that's exactly the type of player Barry Brunetti is. The RB's are quick, strong, and got outside on almost every play. Supposedly, Christian Brothers had the best defense in Memphis going into last weeks game and MUS had the best offense in Memphis going into the game. After watching the game, MUS's offense and defense seemed to be better. MUS was losing 14-10 at halftime. They scored 28 points in the first five minutes of the second half. The final score was 38-14. CBHS had the best defense on paper. MUS has the best defense on the field. The Owls are very very good defensively, despite losing almost all of their D from last season. People look at their stats and think they are not all that great, but the truth is that they have played a stacked scheduled. If they had not played the South Panola's or Olive Branch's, their stats would look a lot better. Also, a lot of teams have scored a decent bit of those points and decent chunk of yardage late in the game after the starters are long gone and the game has long been over.
  13. Prediction.. I think they will win big and Brunetti will be out of the game early to rest his nagging injury.
  14. A couple of things that I noticed when watching MUS last week... They change the pace with the RB's well. McBride is a heavy hitter with great speed (track champion last year). Almond is the scatback with some serious wheels who also plays WR and plays it well. Brunetti gives them a dangerous 3rd option to run, but I really think that the groin injury has made him a more dangerous power. It appeared to me that he looked more patient in the pocket since he was a little hampered. CBHS did some good things early to slow them down, but the offense (especially with the help of the D) is capable of exploding at any moment. At one point, I believe they scored 2 TD's and accounted for well over 100 yards in a span of 3 offensive plays.
  15. Good game by Hutchison today! Congrats to Briarcrest for making the trek and staying alive.
  16. McBride from MUS is very good too. He missed some time this year early on with a shoulder injury, but has been really good since his return a few weeks ago. Little bigger and faster than Orleans. McBride won either the 100 or 200 last year and finished runner-up in the other. I think that he flies a little under the radar because he gets fewer touches than Darkwa simply because MUS has options in Brunetti and another good RB/WR (another D1 talent) in Almond. As of now, Almond and McBride have Army offers as well. That could be one really good matchup in the State if it happens. Brown from CBHS is a load. He is not a prolific back like the other mentioned here (recruited as a LB) but he as a big boy he can sure run and deliver punishment.
  17. Which is somewhat misleading considering they have played South Panola and Olive Branch, in addition to White Station who also played Olive Branch.
  18. Harpeth Hall is #7 regardless of the outcome of the game tonight.
  19. Hutchison ties the game on a PK taken by none other than the keeper with less than one minute left in the game. Wow...that is too exciting. Is the keeper the typical designated PK taker? First ever attempt to my knowledge. It was very nonchalant, and put in the top right corner. She seemed undaunted by the moment.
  20. Hutchison ties the game on a PK taken by none other than the keeper with less than one minute left in the game.
  21. SBA @ Hutchison was cancelled as well. Make-up scheduled for Thursday as both teams cancelled their out of region games in an attempt to get this one in this week. Thurs @ 7
  22. Word on Vol boards that if they strike out with their top 2-3 RB's he will get an offer
