  1. IMAC Soccer Semifinals: South Doyle 2 Morr West 1 Golden Goal in the first 5 minute period Followed by: Seymour 1 Sevier Co 0 Golden Goal in the first 5 minute period Long night of soccer, but 2 great games!!
  2. Pitbull, it's Seymour vs Sevier County tonite in the district semifinals. 7pm at the Sevier Soccer Complex. Should be a really good game to watch!!
  3. I felt terrible for the player that got carded for clapping--even more so for the original red to my son, which we thought was undeserved (of course!!).
  4. I believe this was more of a celebration type thing after scoring the goal than a personal attack. I didn't mean to give the wrong impression.
  5. I thought the red card had been lowered to a one-game suspension this year, but just informed that it is still a 2-game suspension. Why are the soccer players punished so severely for what would be a 15-yard penalty in football and no other punishment?
  6. Witnessed player score and get redcarded for taunting immediately after the goal. An opposing player then clapped because the player was redcarded and was also redcarded from the game. Just trying to get clarification if taunting/responding is, in fact, punishable by the redcard. Thanks for your help!
  7. Pitbull, the Seymour team had a couple of scrimmages rained/snowed out with Carter and Cookeville so the team has been hard to get a good read on so far. They are senior-laden, but have some injuries and moving up to AAA will be a challenge. The Eagles should compete for the district title with their talent and experience. They move the ball well and their finishing will improve. Opened last night with Clinton 2-0. They are fun to watch and should have a good year--Papa Norwood stopped by last night with the family for a few minutes.
  8. Gotta weigh in from East TN on this one. PC Viking in late 70's and early 80's when it was only basketball and baseball. We would've killed to play football! I saw one of the early games at King's Academy in Seymour, TN and still live here. Go VIKINGS!!! Now is your time to show that we're not just a basketball school!! I'll take PC-34 WC-28.
  9. Wow! Just got word that Seymour wins 4-2!! Great win to wrap up the regular season ladies heading into post season! Congratulations!
  10. You know, it was the new coach's first day meeting the girls and he wanted to be able to meet everybody he could in person the first day--players, parents whoever could be there since he was going to be working with them. It wasn't some kind of formal press conference with interviews in the Mountain Press like the big schools do, just a chance to meet whomever could be there. There will be a better chance to meet and greet coming up in the next few weeks when folks can get some dates on a calendar. The players seem to be excited about what Drew is bringing to our program. This is going to be a great year in both the girls and boys seasons, so get behind this young coach!! I think the administration at Seymour High School, along with the Sevier Co Board of Education have gone out of their way to work hard to bring in top-notch candidates for this job and been supportive toward making this work for these student-athletes.
  11. What is the start time for tonight's game?
  12. I think you would definitely want to throw in Newport for Seymour. He can play a number of positions, pitch and can crush the baseball!!!
  13. Would love to be there!! If Carter is aggressive on offense like they were vs Seymour, it could be a long night for Alcoa. A big night for Alcoa's defense---2-2 with no bicycle kicks. That was an amazing shot by a great player!!
  14. I thought the same thing about your game tonite with Carter. It's really pretty quiet on here now. I hate to bring this up, but is ref on Spring Break?
  15. Seymour @ Dobyns Bennett Fri 4/17 5:30 Seymour @ Grace Christian Sat 4/18 10:00 am
  16. The Seymour keeper in the Alcoa game was a senior who only started playing soccer last year. Great size @ 6'5", but lacks experience in game situations.
  17. '07 Fall he played with the '92 DI team--can't remember the name. Played w/Landon Monday (keeper @ Loudon), 3-4 of the guys from CAK, a couple of West teammates, a couple from Bearden, etc--all great young men. It's hard to blend two teams from competing clubs into one and be on top the first year. He will play DI again this fall to get ready for his senior year.
  18. It's actually Jacob Lindsey--he played last year with the Starz in Sevierville-a combo team of Sevier County/Seymour players with a King's Academy player as well. KFC the year before that, and Impact for 4 or 5 years.
  19. You're right about the crown--it's high, but it can't really be changed. Nobody in the stadium had a better view of the whole game than I had last night. The AR's flag went up a full 5 seconds before the center called the play in the box. It was clearly called by the AR well before anything else happened. Nobody got scared, it was just very delayed because he didn't see the flag up. The game was well played by two fine teams of young men, the field is crowned and we can all find faults with some calls in every game. I'm just thankful that this board exists because my cellphone minutes would be crazy if we all had to call each other to have this many discussions!!!
  20. I don't think anyone is going to be jumping ship!! Thought the boys looked pretty good for a team that has "fallen apart". Played with a lot of heart and everybody there knew it. Heard that Nathan will be back sooner rather than later--get back on board ref, and we'll find you a new towel!
  21. Wouldn't miss it! I try to get to most of the big games in the area. I just wasn't aware that anyone other than the first two mentioned were out.
  22. Who are the 3 role players that are out?
  23. First, thanks for the topic--it made me finally get a sign in so that I could post!! Growing up in Linden, basketball was all we knew. Even as a kid, we all knew about the history of basketball there and those teams from '55-'57 that won state titles when there were no classifications of any kind. A school with 150 students would have to beat the big-city schools to win the title. I was fortunate in 7th and 8th grade to have a close friend whose brother played on the '75-'77 Perry County teams, so I got to see nearly every game. The post season games were stacked to the rafters wherever the district and regional tourneys were held. In high school, my best friend and I were lucky enough to run up to Vandy to watch Mike Rhodes play as part of the Town & Country duo. When I played at PCHS coached by Dave Rhodes (Ole Miss), we got to see some of the reels of the state tourney games and I was even fortunate enough to get to guard Mike at the alumni game after his college career ended. In the '96-'97 season, I was able to take my sons to see that amazing team open the season in the old gym and followed them throughout the season--I had moved away years ago. Population growth has definitely NOT overtaken Perry County!! Still a very peaceful and country town--I get back 3-4 times a year to see Mom. Look for the Vikings to be back soon!! Thanks again for bringing back those memories!!
