  1. You believe that if you want to....but I flat out don't believe it. Not that it matters, WB can play whoever they want to play, but I don't believe they tried to schedule GB
  2. Those teams have all struggled mightily this year but have all been good programs in the recent past....it will be interesting to see if their programs have went downhill or if this season was a rebuilding year for those teams. I would think that all three of those games would be winnable games for WB next year if all of the players return that are supposed to return.
  3. That looks to be easier than what they had this year....WB may win 5 next year.
  4. Are they not playing Anderson County or Jeff County?
  5. Two wins was a big improvement over last year. He has some good young kids that played this year and will be back with another year of maturity, I am not exactly sure how many of the Seniors were big contributors this year. If they can find a RB next year, they should be as good as they were this year if not a little better....so if the schedule is the same I would think that four wins next year would be possible. Friday night will be a good game to end on a positive note and build a few stats: WB 49 Stone Memorial 6
  6. Go down 411 to 64 and there is a little hole in the wall called "The Dam Deli".....Have ate there the last two times we went on the Ocoee, pretty good food.
  7. You hit the nail on the head right there....that speed (including OL and DL speed) along with the balance on offense between running and throwing is what puts GB head and shoulders above the other 1A contenders, IMO. Being able to make an opponent cover the whole field is an advantage at any level but especially in 1A because of the normal lack of depth compared to 6A schools, it takes a lot of effort to chase receivers all over the field and for the DL to have to rush and chase someone like Hanley. For that reason, I believe the semi game this year will be well played and competitive for a half and then GB pulls away in the second half because the other team is wore out. The same thing has happened the past two years in the semi vs SP.
  8. They will be forced to do something, the county cant keep approving subdivisions to build these homes and not provide a school for the kids that will live there.
  9. It may be the same now, but I was told you had to live in Loudon County.
  10. Keep me posted as whether this happens....If so, I will be at that game no matter where it is played. IMO, this would be a great matchup.
  11. Being the 9th grade is in a different building at WB, I asked the AD there several years ago to eliminate 9th graders from any varsity sports so they may qualify for 5A....according to what he told me then, when TSSAA does reclassification, if 9th grade is not included they would still add a pro rated number for the freshmen and add it to the classification numbers, so he said what I was suggesting would not work. That came from Ridge and I believe he had already talked to TSSAA about this scenario when he told me this. IMO, with the right leader WB could get to a point of being competitive in 6A....not saying they will be in state championships any time soon, but they could be competitive and win 5 or 6 games a year with an occasional 7-8 win season. Again, IMO, the program would be much better off right now had Ridge stayed the coach or if they would have went with the other hire they were about to make before Shad came on the scene. With the county continuing to grow the way it is, I don't see any hope that WB or Heritage will be able to move down anytime soon. With one huge subdivision already approved on Best Rd and the Mac Pate Farm up for sale now (which will probably be another big subdivision in the near future), I think they will have to build the Carpenters High School that is in the plans. Maybe when this happens it may take enough students from WB that they can move down to 4A or 5A. I cant blame kids or parents that want to go to Maryville or Alcoa, there is only 3 or 4 years there to have fun and make a few memories and there are no do overs. The WB folks like to think that they have lost a lot of kids to Maryville or Alcoa, what they better hope is that GB doesn't open their borders where these Blount County kids can go there without having to live in Loudon County, because if they do half of the WB team would be there now.
  12. From an outsider, I would suggest you find a new goat....you would have to bring the National Guard with you to get your old goat back. I went to GB last night and that goat was getting more attention than the game itself. By the time the playoffs start I believe GB will have named that goat as their official mascot. Whoever did the dye job on that goat is a professional, that goat is dyed black with an orange stripe down his back and Cherokee feathers down each rib cage. I think that goat has gotten used to the attention (especially the milking), even if you were able to sneak in and steal him, he would run away and find his way back.
  13. No one will stay within 28 points of GB the rest of the year and that includes the semifinal game and the State Championship!! Congrats to the Kees on all of the pieces falling into place.....
  14. Hard to believe he turned away an opportunity to be coached by "The Shad"
  15. I'll take a shot at predicting Friday night's outcome....Murvil will beat WB in a squeaker 49-9 (WB kicker kicks three 50 yard field goals), in Saturdays paper Shad will say "I love these kids but we have to find a way to finish drives and play four quarters" because that is what Shad says , and WB fans will talk about how horrible the refs were. RW87 needs to make a lot of cookies!!
  16. 34-7 GB....I thought this would be one sided in GB's favor, but I didn't expect it to be this bad.
  17. Grapevine says GB has a welcome surprise or Thursday night....I will take the Kees in this one.....GB 31 GCA 17
  18. WB 56 Jeff co 14......breakout game
  19. Roy hired him to get his goat back from that Rankin mans field, so he is going to busy for a while.
  20. I know....the 41-14 was my prediction of what the score will be Friday night against Fulton. I think Fulton keeps it respectable for a while but Murvul will pull away in the second half.
  21. Yep...I was going to come to this one but the way TKA has struggled there is no way that this one is competitive.
  22. Have a little faith, Stars.....I think the men in black will be just fine. I look forward to watching this one, it should be another good one.
