  1. Anybody know anything about knox beardens junior varsity
  2. I feel sorry for Tellico Plains having to travel to Sonny Smith Gymnasium on Saturday.Cloudland is one of the best single A teams in the state right now,And that goes for Jackson and Lake County.
  3. The Lady dogs played very well tonight in the first half but to say Hampton should have won is a little over the line. Cloudland played a very sloppy half and Cloudland still won in double digits and thats with the Wilson girl hardly even scoring. Rhodes was double teamed all night and still had a double double I am sure. But hats off to Hampton they came out focused and ready to play in the first half. Just got to put that together for 4 quarters.

75 to 85 percent of high school coaches practice illegaly in someway form or fashion across the state of Tennessee. Most coaches A.Either dont care about the risk of getting turned in or caught. Or B. Dont exactly know the rules. If you step on the floor at anytime and give directions to a player or instruct a player to do a drill before October 31st that is considered "illegal" Most of the schools admenistration know's its going on, they just overlook it.
  5. This shows you how much emphasis these sports writers put into these rankings. If Cosby is the #8 team in the state I will eat my hat. Not only do they play in the weakest district in the state of Tennessee but there non conference schedule is a joke as well. West Greene,Midway, Berean Christian and ETC: I dont care if they was 30-1 there is a reason for their record. I know of 5 teams in single A at the moment that may have lost more than 1 game but deserve to be in the top 10 way before Cosby deserves to be in the 8th spot.
  6. This years Cloudland group is one of the toughest teams I have seen come through upper East Tennessee in the past 5 to 6 years, should be a battle between them and Hampton.
  7. 1 Eliz 2 Eliz J.V. 3 Eliz fresh 4 TA Dugger 5.Harold Mccormick Hurricanes 6.East Side Pirates 7.West Side Wildcats 8.Unicoi Middle "Transfer Humor" 9.South Side 10.Smokey Mountain Sports Complex
  8. Both teams are going to play hard thats a given. But in my opinion West Greene is just to skilled offensively and can do a little more with the football and seem to be a little bigger and more agressive on defense. West Greene-28 Cloudland-6
  9. Just my predictions for Week 0. Elizabethton vs Volunteer(Elizabethton 28-7) Cloudland vs Haysville NC (Cloudland 21-6) Unaka vs Chuckey Doak (Chuckey Doak 28-14)
  10. I actually think that the little league teams might have a shot there corndogg hahaha!!!!!!!!!!! Not a to bad of a year in football as well might I add King. Must be embarrasing to know that your former school got beat by Jellico last year. Ouchhhhhh if I was you I would just burn the lettermans jacket stick to watching your Monday Night Raw and try to get some sleep at night instead of staying up all night trying to figure out what you are going to think of next to say on a kids highschool sports thread that noone really cares about there KING but then again if I had a washed up never was type of sports career you had I guess I wouldn't mind wasting my time posting about how great my highschool was at 6:00 am in the morning either...WHOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO
  11. If anyone has seen Unaka play this year which I have had the chance twice you can tell early or late this is not the same Unaka team we have seen in the past. They are having trouble with turnovers and from what I hear there is no production from there bench at all. Does anyone think that this could be a down year for Unaka or will they finish strong like most of them have achieved in the past?
  12. It's like I said this is now that was then. These local teams years ago could compete dont get me wrong but your Daniel Boone,Sullivan East,Elizabethton teams now have just fallin off the radar of being a competitive dominate team like they have had in the past years. If this tournament was based on loyalty and cahoots then I could understand where you are coming from but by no means should some of the local teams he has chosen deserve the right to even compete in the arby's people dont care about who helped put this together from day one they want to see the best teams around this area compete which I still believe are your top 5 and this is just localy. Greeneville which I am thrilled there going to be competing this year,Science Hill, Dobyns Bennet,Tennessee High, Unaka, those are your top teams around this tri cities area.
  13. If I am Dale Burns and I am picking out the local teams I am deffinitely going with my top 4 or 5 teams which would consist of Tennessee High,Science Hill,Greeneville,Dobyns Bennet and Unaka. Now the honest basketball fans will admit they would rather see good local teams like the one's I just mentioned instead of Elizabethton, Sullivan East,Daniel Boone, Twins Springs VA and ETC. We all know these teams were good at one point years ago. but lately in the past 2 or 3 years they are nowhere near the calibur to compete in the arby's classic. It has gotten to the point anymore that it's more of not as much how good a team is or what they have accomplished in the past but who draws the most fan base could be a team with a losing record for instance and no disrespect to these teams but honestly Sullivan East nor Elizabethton or Daniel Boone belong in the arby's classic. Here is my point and it makes sense. Greeneville probably one of your top 5 teams in East Tennesse made a trip to the state last year didn't get invited. Unaka hasn't been invited back since 2002 they upset the bahama's in the first round lost to germany by 3 in the second game and beat gate city in the third game finishing up 2-1 after that performance they never was invited back even though unaka just the year after next won a state championship and the year after that made another state tournament appearance. Now someone tell me what Elizabethton has accomplished or East or even Boone? They cant even win there own conference and have terrible records and still manage to get in some how. So what it basically boils down to now is how much money these local teams are bringing in the gate and not as much how good of a basketball team they are if someone dissagrees please prove me wrong...
  14. I attended the Watauga Valley Conference jamboree tonight and need I say there could be some suprises this year. Cloudland defeated North Greene in the first contest of the night by about 15 North Greene is a little down this year as for Cloudland They came out playing hard and went very deep into there bench showing they have alot of young talent they can bring in the game very deep and athletic Cloudland team. Second game of the night Unaka defeated University School 22 to 18 I believe. Unaka played almost everyone through out the whole game they have probably the best overall talent in the conference once they get the taylor girl back. University High led most of the game until around the last minute in a half then Unaka hit a bucket to put them a head to go along with another bucket shortly afterwards. Univeristy High could surprise some teams this year. They are very guard athletic and crash the boards really well look for them to possibly make an impact. The final girls game of the night was Hampton defeating a weak Providence Academy team. Hampton came out of the gates on fire not only on the offensive end but on the defensive end as well. Hampton looked really well diccaplined on the offensive end being patient knocking down alot of big shots and forcing Providence to turn the ball over from there full court pressure numerous amount of times. Dont underestimate this Hampton team they are loaded with shooters and play very hard on the defensive end I wouldnt be surprised if they dont give Unaka and Cloudland a run for there money in the conference. But overall good games tonight and hopefully they will be even better once the season progresses...Good luck to all teams.
  15. Jamboree's are usually nothing but a conference scrimmage. More than likely you wont see none of these teams show off their best tonight. Look for alot of kids to get playing time tonight on each of these teams.
  16. What does Moore County's girls have coming back this year? And whats your opinion on how good they will be this year.
  17. Anybody know anything about "Moore County this year ?
  18. I agree with bouncepass to have the talent Hampton has there was no excuse for the performance they put on the other night plain and simple they got out played and they got out coached by a better than average Cloudland team who finished what 3rd or 4th in the conference,They slowed down the ball forced Hampton into taking bad shots down the stretch boxed out on the defensive end and was patient with there offense they made Hampton play there game for 4 quarters and that is what got them beat. If you really wanna know who I favor to win this it will either be Unaka or Cloudland just for the fact they are well coached and both coaches get the most out of there players they are diciplined they both go deep into the bench and it will pay off in the long run not only in the regionals but in the future as well. Ohh and by the way Htown34 I will let you in on a little secret I dont know how much basketball you have watched out side of highschool this season but you might want to look at the check you are writing before you cash it in.Look at what Hunter, and Unaka have when they are combined together.Hampton has 1 feeder system and that is Little Milligan and I dont really recall the last time they have had a flat out stud who has come from up there and just dominated at Hampton. Not to mention look at the athletes Cloudland Highschool has coming up from there 8th grade class next year who will be freshman they have 2 of the best if not the best athletes in the county who will probably be about 6'3 6'4 and can flat out play if they keep growing not to mention only lost 2 games this season and that was to Science Hill and Hunter. If I was Hampton I would be trying to get Ned Smith or Leon Tolley for the kids coming up in the future and I guarantee you that there would be the start of a good program.
  19. Orange&WhiteFridaynight the only title Sullivan Central or Happy Valley will be smelling is if the state title game consists of teams coming from the group home and if the game is played at your local boys and girls club.Sullivan Central and Happy Valley both are overated and I am not even a fan of your conference if you wanna know who has the most talent in your guys conference its Unicoi if the weaver kid is back the next time you play them you will be lucky to get a win. And I hate to say it but Happy Valley nor Sullivan Central is going to the state tournament there is no power house AA teams around this area going to even come close to advancing past regionals Sullivan Central could possibly make it to Substate but that is a big possibly and even if they did there is know way they can match up with the caliber of teams like Raliegh Egpt,Fulton,Martin Luther King,Giles County, and Bolivar.Your strength of schedule is weak and the loss to Sullivan East isnt to impressive on there either so do all the hype talking you wont to on here bottom line is neither team will be going to the state unless you buy a ticket to go watch.
  20. From seeing the score on here seems like Unaka is still struggling against weeker opponents.Sullivan East is one of the weeker teams in the upper East Tennessee. Especially at the AAA level you figured they would have put them away after only defeating a weak single A North Greene team by only 1 point.I have seen them play one time this year and they are nothing like the past not impressive if you ask me you get there big man in trouble and you take them out of there game. because that is who they look to go to 85 % of there time if not they want to spread the floor out and try to pass the ball around until they can get an open look at a good three point shot nothing really flashy about this years team other than last year they liked to run with it and create off the fast break this year they run with it a little bit except when the other point guard is in he is pretty timmid and tends to slow it up on the fast break there not as smart as last year they get in a bad habit of taking care of the ball towards the end of the game when pressure is applied and you have to make them get it out of the point guard or two guards hand make them put it on the floor and get it to other players. Not a good free throw shooting team.Would much rather go inside then take the outside shot. Not as good of half court team as they was last year they have some decent scorers no major threats just the post player they love moving the ball around till he has got his defender pinned and then they lob it over top looking for him to score make #25 shoot himself out of the game good jump shot loves leaving his feet as for the point guard seems to get down on himself when shots arent falling. Very well coached my theory one of the best coaches in Tennessee. But these two teams should have nothing to worry about this years team plays and is a completely different team than last years whole different style of play and nothing special coming off the bench except for #24 he plays hard and trys to get people open. GOOD LUCK TO ALL THE TEAMS IN THIS TOURNAMENT IT IS TOUGH PLAYING THERE I HEAR :justwrestle:
  21. if I am not mistaken the last time I checked "Warriorbball" Jellico is not in the W V C. And the last time I checked Happy Valley has never been considered a top power house program in East Tennessee or a threat to anybody. And im sure if you ask anyone around who the best team 2 teams in the county were last year they will tell you it was Unaka and Cloudland which do represent the W V C. Wake up kid Happy Valley has never been a power house program the last time they was even considered dominant was when they won the state back in the early 70's when they had David Crocketts head coach now Marty Street. Happy Valley did upset the State Champions last year in single A that has already been clearified in some posts. Now you do the math "warriorbball" When is the last time you won a state title, When is the last time you won a region title, When is the last time you made a substate appearance. And didnt Unaka which is a W V C represenitive host the substate on Happy Valleys Home floor 3 years ago against Sunbright. I belive they did the last time I checked.Bottom line it dont take a rocket scientist to figure out if you look in the past and do the math you will come to the conclusion that Unaka and Cloudland could have matched up against any Watauga Conference team you put in front of them plain and simple get your facts strait.
  22. It is nice to see caca back on the message boards we have missed your stupidity. This is a no brainer the Chambers kid is one of the best players to come out of that program in a long time besides the Dugger kid.You cant replace the numbers he has put up since he has been playing there neither can you replace the desire he brought every single game. What made him look so good on the floor was how he got his team involved he was a leader out there and you cant replace that he knew what he had to do every game to win no matter if it was giving up every opportunity to score to win he would do it if it was taking over a game he could do it.He was very coachable and knew how to play the game of basketball thats what seperates those 2 from each other but from what I saw in the state tournament they worked pretty good together so why all of the arguing on here there is no point.
  23. Now to get back on the subject anybody in there right minds in this county would be crazy not to have Unaka in the #1 spot not only are they the top team in the county they are one of the top teams in East Tennessee. This team will only get better.Tell me the last team in this county to make it to the state tournament in the past 5 years any of these teams or better yet to do it with all freshman juniors and sophmores.Kenneth Chambers has did one heck of a job putting the Unaka high schools girls basketball program on the map and has a loaded crop of talent and experience to get him back to where they were last year.Like I was saying this team will only get better.A 6'3 post player another 5'11 post player guards that can light you up from anywhere and depth to go along with it.And the best coach in East Tennessee to go along with that. Its a no brainer when it comes to who is number 1 out of all the county teams.Did Elizabethon make it last year?No Did North Green Cloudland Hampton Johnson County Unicoi Science Hill Dobyns Bennet Tennessee High Sullivan North Sullivan South Sullivan Central Daniel Boone make it? No I dont believe so Unaka's girls will be problems for any team they step on the floor against this year post matchup guard matchup is unreal they have all the tools to being one of the best single A teams in the state this year.It will be exciting to see what they bring to the table this year and im sure there will be no let downs.
  24. The only difference was Unaka had 5 great players on this years team and played together and with heart. The other year they had 1 player and no T-E-A-M. And to think Unaka couldnt compete in the Arbys last year your obviously very funny. they rolled over many teams around the Tennessee area that people thought they couldnt handle and when the game was over teams was like wow these boys can play. Seems to me someone is a little jealous of what Unaka accomplished last year. thumb
