  1. According to Upperman's schedule, Jackson Co. came within 10 of Upperman. The other two games were 22 and 20. I know they didn't beat Livingston according to the schedules, so what AA semi-final team did they beat this year? It would be nice if people would stop making up stuff and get their facts straight.
  2. You really don't even bother to look up stats before you open your mouth, do you? He's won 2 and has one runner-up. He does have a very good winning percentage against very tough competition. I don't have a dog in this fight, but the Gleason fans have stated nothing that the Jackson Co. fans haven't stated. Both fans think they're gonna win and both think their coaches are awesome, which they are. No one is being prideful, just spirited...ya know like all good fans should be??
  3. I was there at the game, and I wondered something about Collinwood. It looked as if everyone besides Andrews and occassionally Daniel weren't quite sure to do with the ball. I don't mean that anyway ugly, but it looked as if they were looking for Andrews to do it all. I also wondered why they didn't take more three point shots. I remember telling someone that they need to get out there on her(Andrews), but they said well she's only taken one 3. I thought that was odd since she wasn't missing in warm-ups. I thought the refs let them play yesterday, and the fouls till the end were even for the most part. I just don't think Collinwood adjusted very well to the game. They have had a great season, and Andrews is an amazingly talent. With her leading the way and others stepping up, their future looks bright.
  4. Jackson is up in double digits late in the game...I think 16.
  5. Seriously? You think Jackson Co., who is struggling with Cloudland right now, is gonna beat Gleason who just knocked out the defending state champ(who beat Jackson last year in the final)? I'm not saying Gleason is gonna win, but wow that is a pretty certain statement from you.
  6. So far all three "underdogs" have won. I guess it just shows that you can never underestimate any team, and you have to play as hard as you can till that final whistle blows.
  7. TCA played very well and rebounded with a passion. They just had great hustle from every girl on the floor. The two seniors played extremely well! Katie had 8 rebounds(5 offensive at 5'2") and she went a perfect 11-11 at the free throw line for 21 points. Jamie had 13 points and 13 rebounds for a double-double. Collinwood has a great team, and Andrews is a flat-out baller! Good Luck Friday against Oliver Springs!
  8. I'm also pretty sure NS had an answer for that dominant post player's team if they beat them by 32. Just a thought...
  9. The last time I checked North Side was AA and Shelbyville was AAA. Shelbyville would beat most of the teams in the state(Riverdale and Cleveland excluded this year). Nowhere in the original post does it mention them or anything about who is the best team, etc. It's just amazing to me that some people have to build themselves and their teams up to put other's great accomplishments down. Everyone knows Shelbyville is a good team...everyone knows Upperman has a good team. So why go on other people's posts and brag about it? Anyway, Good luck NS! P.S. This is basically the same NS team that beat York last year by 32 at state. If I remember correctly, they put Upperman out, didn't they? /wink.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=";)" border="0" alt="wink.gif" />
  10. Believe me Trinity will play more than their fair share of AAA teams. They were the only A team invited to the Worth Tourney in Murfreesboro. Plus, they are playing at Hendersonville, St. Benedict, and Covington tournaments. Believe me they'll be more then prepared for State. They have most everyone back from last year, where they beat all the A teams. /wink.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=";)" border="0" alt="wink.gif" />
  11. UMM, I'm pretty sure until someone knocks them off, Trinity is the best class A team in the state. Friendship is a very talented team though.

    New To 15A

Welcome to 15-A! There are some great teams in the district this year. Adamsville has always been tough(lost by one in substate), Riverside is coming along really well, and JCS should be strong also. Trinity is just a very strong team with a lot of experience, but anyone can compete. That's why the games are played on the field.
  13. Here's just a few teams to watch, IMO, from some different areas: AAA: Soddy Daisy, Brentwood, Riverdale, Mt.Juliet AA: Hixson, Covington, Goodpasture(seems they are always there), Gibbs A: Trinity, Friendship, Summertown, Midway II: Father Ryan, GPS, Baylor, St. Benedict
  14. If you'll look Butchie I did mention the Fayette game. Like I said, people can use excuses all they want, some valid while others are not. TCA throws the ball and it was raining plus FA had their BEST player the whole game. Who knows if it made that big of a deal in deciding the game but in any case, if other teams can use excuses then so can TCA. Frankly, I feel that if the other team beat you then they were obviously better than you that night. I will wait and see how the game turns out cause I think it's gonna be a good game. I just think TCA is gonna pull it out. I'm even willing to admit that the teams are pretty equal and either team could win. If TCA does lose, I can definitely tell you I won't be thinking about you, unless that is if JCS beats you. Then I'll be thinking about the fact that you should have had more humility and respect for other teams.
  15. Rather than get on here and trash talk, I thought I would try to give my best unbias opinion on this game: Here's my take on things. Lake Co. beat a good football team in FA, who was without their best player in Wentworth. It's been said that Lake Co. had the ball most of the second half, so FA might not have had that many chances to score. However, I am prone to believe that FA would have had a better chance of winning if he was still in the game. If God-forbid, Springer went down hurt the first play of a game, how would it affect Lake Co.'s morale? We've already been told that when he went out in the McKenzie game that they suffered dramatically. We were also told they dominated the game, but if it was so dominant then where are the numbers to back it up? In my eyes, 14-12 never is dominating. They might have had a few calls not go their way and some touchdowns called back, but looking at more posts, the same excuse was used against Bruceton too. Now then, TCA beat a very good team in Bruceton, who was playing with a 2006 Mr. Football finalist and held him to 80 yards at home. They've beaten them twice now pretty convincingly, both away and at home. In both of those games, they got the job done and did so in a pretty "dominating" fashion. Granted they lost the week before to FA, but if Lake Co. can use excuses for scores, then so can TCA. They are more of a passing team, and I think a lot of people knew they would have trouble with the weather being the way it was that night. Plus, FA had Wentworth the whole game. I'm sure both team's fans and players could say a lot of what-ifs about why they didn't win and so forth, but what matters is getting the job done on the field. So if you throw the playoff games out and look at their common opponents in the season( WC, Halls, and Bruceton) Trinity is 3-0 outscoring their opponents 103-20, while Lake Co. is 2-1 outscoring their opponents 100-29. Pretty even against the same competiton. With all this being said, I believe Trinity has more going for them in their favor and will take this one. This game is at Trinity's field, where they've won several straight now, while Lake Co. is suspect on the road. Everyone talks about the offense, but I think it's going to be the defense who really determines the winner here. I think Trinity has the advantage in this as well. I also know Lake Co. is coming off a huge win, which sometimes produces a let down the next week, whereas Trinity went and methodically got things done the week before. It will be a great game between two good teams, but I pick the Lions in a hard-fought, close win.
  16. Just curious, Were Springer and Yancey healthy when Lake Co. played Bruceton the week before?
  17. It should be at TCA since they were the higher seed(3 vs. 4).
  18. I'm not gonna disagree with you, but I figured the money situation was a given. Sorry I didn't think I had to spell that out. Not everyone who goes there is extremely well off. Some, including my mom, had to give up a lot to send me there. Just trying to make the point that race nor handicap keeps you from going there. I've always respected your opinion VG but did someone touch a nerve or something?
  19. I also know that Trinity has a few handicapped kids, including a young lady who plays wheelchair basketball and a few with downs syndrome. If you agree in certain Biblical principles, then more than likely they are going to accept you. However, I do agree that the population isn't necessarily the same. Graduating from a small private school myself, I will admit that to some extent private school kids can be sheltered, but if a parent wants to do keep their kid from being influenced in certain ways, shouldn't they have that right? In the end, it's a parents choice where they want their kids to go, and there can be several different reasons for putting them in a certain place. I have known people in Jackson who have moved to a certain zone so their kids could go to a different school for various reasons, i.e. a specific teacher, friends, academics, arts, etc. not just athletics.
  20. I figured this was going to happen if Trinity won state. The thing that amazes me though is the fact that before the last few years, there had been times when they might have won 2 or 3 games in a season. Public and private alike beat on them at that point, but no one had anything to say then? Where were all the private advantages when they were getting beat 22-0 by Adamsville(a small public high school)? That's because at small private schools like Trinity, there are about as many advantages as smaller public schools. Not everyone there plays sports or comes for sports, and they have less students then most of the public schools to begin with. They just happened to get a good group girls(which can happen at any school, even public) that have played together most of their lives and found a way to win. Everyone of the girls live in Jackson, and most of them have been there since elementary school. The few that have come over since then, came because their sister or friends were going, not because Trinity had an awesome softball team. It's just sad when you want to take away something so special to these girls and make it sound as if they cheated to get where they are, instead of the hardwork they have put in. And I do believe Forrest(a public school) gave them all they wanted at state, plus Huntingdon played them tough this year too. In the end, it comes down to a great group of girls, who get along on and off the softball field, that have worked hard for many years to get where they are at Trinity. Why take that away from them?
  21. They played awesome yesterday and never gave up. They should cherish this, remember what it feels like, and work even harder so they can be there again next year. Barring injuries, they should be in the hunt again for the next few years. They return 7 starters(their entire pitching staff), plus get their starting 2nd baseman and leadoff hitter back from 2005. The two seniors, Micah and Ashley were HUGE in the tournament this year and will definitely be missed. Until then, congrats on a great season!
  22. Just to clear something up. Trinity has had two pretty good seasons in a row. Haven't really done that well before now. I did look at the website, and it does seem to be a little bias to Middle Tennessee, which is fine. Anyway, it was an awesome game, and both teams played very well. Congrats TCA!
  23. I don't mean this in any way ugly, but I'm pretty sure teams like Trinity and Friendship might feel a little slighted by this post. Trinity came in third last year to Goodpasture and Boyd, while beating DA who you claim was one of the top three last year. I'm not saying that either of these two teams will win, but they are both as strong as Forrest, Columbia Academy, and Summertown.
  24. I would have to say that Ivy Renfroe at TCA is a great Freshman pitcher. She led her team to a 3rd place finish at state last year as an 8th grader and was named The Jackson Sun's Player of the Year. Her younger sister in 8th grade this year isn't too bad either.
  25. I'm not trying to start anything, but why do you guys assume it's either Madison or Middleton? Trinity is playing really good team ball right now, and they have beaten Madison 2 out of 3 so far this season. I'm not saying they will win, but I think it would be a mistake to count them out. Any team can win right now, which i think is pretty evident from the looks of last night's results.
