  1. I'm sure Gordonsville is glad to save some diesel this week and play at home while Whitwell looks to continue their playoff winning streak. The winner of this game baring a miracle will travel to South Pitt next week. Was Whitwell's win against Monterey a fluke of Monterey looking ahead or is Whitwell going to pull a Livingston Academy and play every playoff game on the road in route to a second state championship. I will take Gordonsville for the win.
  2. I hope I am wrong but I think Marshall County is 2-3 touchdowns better than DeKalb on paper. Fortunately games aren't played on paper. Looking at schedules the big take away for me is Marshall County beat Nolensville 30-14. Nolensville beat Watertown 32-14 and Watertown beat DeKalb 42-20. I do think DeKalb is playing their best ball of the season and both teams are 1-0 where it counts.
  3. Alright lets get some mid-week predictions going. Carthage 13 Gordonsville 25.
  4. As much as I hate to say it, but there will be a running clock for part of the second half. A DeKalb lost to Warren County pretty much lets you know that DeKalb will be in contention for 3 or maybe 4 wins this season. I figure wins against Grundy, Cannon, Cumberland County and splitting between Macon and Stone Memorial.
  5. Alright now that we have the formalities out of the way. It sounded like Gordonsville's line was disruptive to Watertown's offensive schemes last night but Carthage has some veterans on offense that can make plays. I do feel like after this year the momentum shifts to Gordonsville.
  6. This rivalry was starting to get stale, but after a Gordonsville win in Carthage last year it seems like a little wood has been thrown on the rivalry fire. Does Carthage return the favor or does Gordonsville make it two in a row.
  7. Repoman when I say make some noise that is exactly what I'm talking about. Being able to play competitively win or lose against the teams that are consistently in Murfreesboro. It's nice to see DeKalb hopefully getting to a point where they are being competitive night after night.
  8. Iceman I'm not saying they are world beaters but DeKalb use to be a footnote on everyone's schedule. To consider them possibly finishing as high 2nd or 3rd in the district is a huge accomplishment for them considering the history of this district. This freshman class if all healthy could really make some noise as Juniors and seniors.
  9. Great start to the season for DeKalb. The turn around over the last couple years is impressive. 5-2 with those losses coming to undefeated Pickett and White. The next four years could be the best years in Tigerette history.
  10. Congratulations to Gordonsville and Coach Clemons on a fine season. Good luck to SP next week against a very talented Whitwell team. SP may have still won this game but I feel the turning point was the SP punt that touched a Gordonsville player and was recovered by SP.
  11. I'm hearing that Watertown is down in talent this year but very physical. Gordonsville's young defense will probably give up a few big plays. I'm taking Gordonsville in this one 27-19.
  12. Would love to see Gordonsville come out with a win, but Milan will be a man amongst boys. I look for him to have 175-200 yards and three touchdowns.
  13. How many personal fouls and face mask did DeKalb have tonight. In a close game your players have to play disciplined. Stopping a teams drive or having them in a 3rd and long situation then it continuing on a personal foul is a back breaker. Warren is much improved this year and deserved to win tonight, however DeKalb didn't help themselves with 2 or 3 costly personal fouls.
  14. Here are my early predictions for the rest of the season; Upperman wins out except for a loss at Livingston. (Love that hog-eye announcer) DeKalb falls to Trousdale and scores 34 against Upperman in a losing effort. Livingston goes 4 and 2 coming up short against Hixsin and CAK. Smith goes 3 and 2 losing to DeKalb and Livingston. Macon gets one more win against Cannon. And the same goes for York Oh and I have a feeling everyone will be practicing basketball after round two.
  15. Hey King any word on some of the players from last year. Linder was a man amongst boys.
  16. I agree with you statsdontlie. It seems like DeKalb is making good adjustments and not beating themselves. I was surprised to learn that their 6 points in the first half against Stone came from field goals.
  17. Any injury updates from either side? What is the latest on Milan?
  18. Looking forward to this game Friday night. Livingston has been DeKalb's achillies heal for several years and I would love to see DeKalb get the HOG-EYE monkey off its back. Both teams are down from last year and with two games under both their belts Livingston may possibly be down a little more than DeKalb. I think its going to be a close game and even a down hog-eye team will make a formidable opponent. Opinions?
  19. I haven't heard anything about the Milan kid lately, is he still on the team? Also anyone got an injury update on Molander.
  20. Hope to see some good informative post regarding Maplewood. Im not sure if these two teams have ever played each other. DeKalb has the offense to keep them in most games, but the defense can be hit and miss. Good luck to both team and lets hope for an exciting injury free game for both teams.
  21. No doubt someone would have to throw a post in here that is pointless, has nothing to do with the game and shows someones true character. Every post since the game ended has been informative, or encouraging to one or both teams. Good Luck to DeKalb next week, it would be a good time for the defense to have a break out game, and to Greenbriar I hope ya'll have a great off season and let's hope to both be back in the playoffs next year and continue the old regioin rivalry.
  22. I really enjoyed this game. With muzzleloader in the morning, I didn't make the trip to Greenbriar. Smith played a great game and except for the interception that was brought back played mistake free. The defense really stepped up and shut down Pearl Cohn. I have to also mention the Pearl Cohn band which was a joy to watch. Good Luck to Smith next week.
  23. Congratulations DeKalb. Didn't make the long trip with muzzleloader in the morning. Looking forward to hearing about the game from knowledgeable fans that were there, not some of the mess that was being posted on here before the game.
