  8. Did you not notice I put Grace #2 in my later post and had Jellico at #5?
  9. Jackson Co at Oliver Springs game scheduled for tonight has been postponed. No make up game set.
  10. Region Top 5 as of Jan 25 1. Sunbright - has won 5 in a row, still perfect in 4A 2. Grace Christian - also winners of 5 straight, only undefeated in 3A 3. Oliver Springs - has won 5 in a row, has climed to 2nd in 4A 4. Oneida - just knocked off Jellico and playing well as of late, third in 4A 5. Jellico - has had some tough losses without big man in the middle just missed....Midway, Tellico Plains, Harriman don't count out....Wartburg, Rockwood Big games on tap this week... Tonight Onieda at Sunbright Tomorrow Wartburg at Jellico Friday Harriman at Grace Friday Sunbright @ Wartburg Saturday Wartburg at Rockwood
  11. They need a little help to take over first. Sunbright is the lone undefeated team and Jellico just has 1 loss. Winning out will not be enough to secure the top spot in the district. They are playing better than they were before Christmas...this will be a big week against 3 tough teams all on the road.
  12. Oliver Springs @ McMinn central game moved to Jan 23
  13. York at Oliver Springs (girls and Boys) scheduled for tonight has been cancelled. A makeup date is being discussed....
  14. Wanting to get a discussion of the regions top teams this year. Make a top 5 list. I'll start it... 1. Sunbright - only team in 4A not to lose, playing well except for loss to Calarkrange. 2. Jellico - one the regions most explosive teams 3. Grace Christan - haven't played many district games, but have played a tough schedule 4. Tellico Plains - has played everyone in 3A once, and only lost to Grace 5. Oliver Springs - tough losses to Sunbright and Jellico almost in Midway, Harriman, Oneida
  15. Oliver Springs at Onieda District 4a Tue Dec 22 Girls 6, boys 730
  16. Early district standings: 1. Jellico 3-0 2. Sunbright 1-0 2. Onieda 1-0 4. Oliver Springs 1-1 5. Wartburg 0-1 6. Oakdale 0-2 6. Coalfield 0-2 This Friday..... Onieda vs Oakdale Oliver Springs vs Coalfield Wartburg vs Sunbright
  17. Teams in: Oliver Springs, Onieda, Pigeon Forge, Karns, Cumberland Gap Results: Karns beat Onieda OS beat CG PF beat Onieda Karns beat CG PF beat OS CG beat PF
  18. They have played two similar teams in Coalfield and Midway this year. Both of them handled each opponent. TP has played a harder schedule to prepare them for this game. But, I think this one will be close, decided by 7 points or less. I think OS wins regardless of playing on the road. As a matter of fact, they will be more focused because of it rather than excited about finally getting in after several bad seasons!! GO BOBCATS!! Go get what is yours!
  19. Wow.....this is getting a little out of hand. I know the topic of not hosting a playoff game is a sore subject, but let's take it easy. It sucks that this happen but it is done and there is nothing that can be done other than burning bridges and tearing down programs. This is a time to come together to avoid future problems/punishments. As for the Christmas tournament that the team is taking during the break, that has nothing to do with a reward.....those are regular season games. The teams (boys and girls) have been going to this since 1997. All sports at OS are still allowed to play regular season games where ever they chose to. Once again, its a tough blow to OS, but let's rise above it and do great things because of it. FYI....Last year, Cloudland boys basketball had to travel to Rockwood for a sub-state game (they were suppose to host but their girls team lied about seating) and they WON and went to state. Move on and get ready for your next game rather than looking in the past and going home early!! Football Cats.....Take care of what is in front of you each week if you want to advance deep in the playoffs, regardless of what field you play on!
  20. If I remember correctly, here is a list of returning all-district team from last year... Oliver Springs - SR Rather, SR Harper (tournament), SR Tarver (tournament) Wartburg - none Sunbright - SR Higgins Coalfield - SO Hill Oakdale - JR Currier Oneida - SR/JR? Carson As far as what this year will hold...its up to each team/player. The names mentioned on previous post are probably favorites but you never know.
  21. I heard rumors the fountain kid was transfering to Coalfield......good thing it is only a rumor!!
  22. Oliver Springs High School is having a play day on Sat Nov 14.
  23. Here is my 2 cents worth..... I think this is a huge game for OS, we will find out if they are ready for big time high school football. They don't have to win to prove they belong in the elite status. They need to compete and have a chance to win. I would feel better if this one was at OS. My pick.... comes later in the week
  24. catmommy, I don't know Hill's status but you are right about non-faculty coaches must be an assistant for 5 years before being a head coach. I thought Hill was the middle school coach at Coalfield. If he is a teacher under the Coalfield school's roof, then he can coach.
