  1. Marions time you always have a lot to say when it comes to Sequatchie football. No one on the schedule could have beaten the Indians by 40 this year. Central would have if they could have. They didn't. Oh yeah, what was the sequatchie/marion score again? Because of the injuries? Even though sequatchie was missing 5 starters as well. Whatever makes you feel better. Run the program down but it will continue to be more competitive over the next couple of years. Happy New Year!
  2. Sequatchie County high School is in need of a Spring football scrimmage for the following weeks of May 10th-14th or May 17th-21st. If interested contact Head Coach Chad Barger at (423)693-3969 or by email at cbarger@sequatchie.k12.tn.us
  3. The valley teams seemed to be much improved with all but one team in the playoffs. What can we expect from each SVC team next year? For those that don't know the teams they are Bledsoe, Grundy, Marion, Sequatchie, South Pittsburg, and Whitwell. North Jackson would be included but this is a Tennessee board
  4. There has been talk about consolidation for years. I think the thread started over coaching changes and rumors. I have heard a few but it is the believe it when you see it. The valley loves its football and the fans love to show how much more they know than their teams coaches. I predict there are very few changes in the valley, maybe assistant coaches leave but I don't see many head coaches leaving this year. Might be a different story next year.
  5. Not being critical but I was at the game. My only issues were with South Pitt not running the football much in the second half and not utilizing the TE. A Mr Football finalist and future MTSU player had 2 balls thrown his way. QB counter trey ran one time and gained 10 plus yards. Run the football and have 27 from UC chasing you guys and wear them down. Maybe there were details we don't know as spectators. Grider is a great coach so maybe I am wrong but that was my opinion. Take it for what its worth which isn't much
  6. There are always rumors flying around in the valley. Sometimes the coaches are the last people to find out they are supposed to be leaving! Lol
  7. The game tomorrow night should be a good one. Meigs is much better than their record shows. I expect them to show up ready to go. Good luck to the Indians tomorrow night. Be ready to play 4 quarters of hard nosed football! Pspy, the answer to the question is maybe. It depends on the next two weeks and how seeding goes. They could even meet in first round if the stars align right. First or second round but the Indians have to take care of their own this week first and then we will play it by ear.
  8. Great Job Lions! It has been a long time coming. I am proud of those seniors who had to go through 3 coaches in 3 years. They kept working and deserve all they get. CC fans are some of the best around, not classless as some posts indicate. Great win for the entire community. You could see it coming over the last few years with the interest in the program. Good luck the rest of the year!
  9. Lupe Martinez from sequatchie county kicked a 52,47,and 44 yard field goal in the same game in the rain. Kid puts most of his kicks in the endzone and kicks a mean pooch and onside. Also averages 38 yards a punt
  10. If you guys notice the two posters who have been disrespectful are new to the boards. I believe coach barger and the indians have a lot of respect for the warriors and I bet coach reel and the warriors have respect for the indians. This should be a great game to watch as you have two of the best teams in the valley, no offense to south pitt, squaring off in a huge game. Hope it is a great night and injury free.
  11. Go Get them Lions! Good job so far, do not let homecoming distract you. Do not participate in the events boys. Remember, Homecoming is for those that dont play. You have a huge district game, focus on that.
  12. Seeing the warriors on film, they are a much better team than last year. My hats off to Coach Reel and their staff. They play with fire and are physical. Marion was without # 21 but Sequatchie was without 4 starters as well. 3 of those did not even dress. No excuses because this game is about pride. The Bledsoe/Sequatchie game is ALWAYS a tough game. The two teams have respect for each other and the coaching staffs know what is at stake for the winner of the game. Coaqch Reel has done a great job and I want to be the first to say way to go, my friend. Looking forward to an outstanding game, huge crowd, and great atmosphere. Not to mention that the game means a heck of a lot more than bragging rights for the first time in a long time.
  13. That's why the folks in the stands are in the stands and the coaches are on the field. Enjoy the win and get ready to break the streak next week and stop worrying about what the coaches do or why they do certain things. I bet they have their reasons
  14. Chief, most know who I am. I am Very close to the program. As for Marions Time, I dont think the Indians are not as good as last year. They are better on defense and have some weapons on offense. I think the Indians run the option VERY WELL and to say you guys run it way better may be an exxageration. I think you guys will give Signal fits with the option but you better be able to slow them down. We slowed the run game down but the QB is very good. Hope you can play both the run and pass. Coach Price and his staff do a great job on offense.
  15. I am very proud of our effort Friday. We should have won but it did not happen. I am not happy with the result but I agree with chief about the finger pointing. That has to stop. These young men are ages 14-18 and will indeed make mistakes. How they handle those helps define who they are and how to best overcome adversity. The Indians have a huge game this week and I hope that the following we had Friday will be there in full force @ CCS. The seating is limited there so you may want to bring lawn chairs. It is similar to Silverdale area. Good luck the rest of the way Indians and I know we can be a GREAT football team!
  16. The more I think about it, the stranger it gets. You say there is nothing to cheer about and the kids have no heart yet you say you will be there anyway. How about letting me know who you are since i let everyone on here know who I am. Its sad how one game turns people "sour" as you say. Yes we have some talent, inexperienced talent. Those guys in the skill positions tonight arent as experienced as some. You see it however you need to to make yourself feel high and mighty but I saw two good football teams play tonight and the better team didnt win because of 4 turnovers. Take whatever you want to out of it but I am through with this board. See you soon!
  17. Turnovers killed us. Chief, Heart? Those kids layed it all on the line. They are great kids who bust their tails. Dont get on here questioning their heart and character. We will do well. No team wins with 4 turnovers. Bottom line. Swing by some time and share your ideas. Would love to sit down and talk with you.
  18. The injuries aren't too serious. One is back and another will likely be back this week. Two of the three hurt were car accidents. I'm glad to see some people "get it". Put the athletes in the bacfield at the same time. We have some plans for the other stuff, kinda vanilla in the scrimmages
  19. I will give a sequatchie county perspective, since everyone else chimes in. I think the warriors roll big in this one. I think they are still angry over the jamboree t-shirts calling them jasper instead of marion(shirts were bush league btw). Good luck this week and on the season except week 5!
  20. CI, you cast the first stone. I have posted on the board for years. Never hid my identity either. I gave you an invitation to come down and speak with the coaches. That is the first step instead of posting on a board degrading the program you say you love and support. I will be more than willing to explain, in detail, any move you don't agree with. There are reasons behind every move. Its sad that we have one bad outing and people freak out. The kids that quit, only one had a true chance to start and he quit for a job. We have 11 freshmen, one less than last years group. All is well, we have some injuries that have hurt the OL but they will be back next week. Hope to see you soon CI, fill me in and let me know who you are. The indians will be ready to go in a week.
  21. The linemen will be back soon. Figured we would just ask concerned indian, with their football saavy ways, to give Coach B some more suggestions since the football program is getting worse. Don't see how it could get much worse than it was. 1-19 before last year and no more than 5 wins in a season since 2000. But what do I know, I'm no coach!
  22. Concerned Indian, I see this is your first post and you have already shown us your vast insight. You apparently are either a parent of someone who isn't playing much, or one of the friday night railbirds. Did you happen to notice three young men on the sidelines who start on the OL? Hickman plays TE, which in this offense serves the same function as tackle. What you need to do is meet with Coach Barger and address the issues rather than do it in town and on internet boards. The Indians will do much better than what you and some of your buddies think. Like I said earlier, address the issues with the head coach. I'm sure he will have an answer for you.
  23. I think the jury is out on McDaniel at Oakland. He had a senior laden team that had tons of experience. As for the players not listening, I think you are off base. Those kids were well disciplined. They did what was asked of them. Some people may be great assistant coaches but not good head coaches. I don't know what happened up there but there are good kids there that want to win. I think Bartsch ran a good program and should have been given more time. I think personality conflict was the issue. Good luck coach shrenk and the lions
  24. That's a bold prediction sequatchie. It is never a disappointing year when the kids play to their ability and play fundamentally sound every snap. I expect to win every time we set foot on the field but this years schedule is tougher top to bottom than last year. You underestimate teams like signal mountain. They will be very tough. The district will be competitive. Bold predictions lead to people losing jobs. I know what the Indians are capable of doing but they must stay healthy and play together as a team. Thanks for the added expectations though. Maybe we won't disappoint you and all the indian faithful!
  25. Maybe Sequatchie Football was working on something other than a survey to turn in to a magazine. They might have been busy trying to hire coaches, work out 70 players, and keep up those nice facilities.
