  1. I see nothing in the Dead Period rule that would preclude Wilson Central from wrestling THEIR team in the Disney Duals, provided there are no Wilson Central coaches involved. Certain sports, i.e. football and basketball, specifically address and allow summer school verse school competition. In most other sports, wrestling included, the regulations pertaining to summer competition are silent, save coaching during the dead period. Baseball has a 50% rule pertaining to the school year (think fall ball), not summer. I applaud Wilson Central for getting what appears to be 12 matches for their wrestlers during a time when most of the rest of us are sitting on our butts.
  2. The wrestlers that registered will be there. Just had some that didn't register for a variety of different obligations.
  3. Dang. What I get for trusting Track. Too bad for Hooker but it is encouraging to see that he is competitive with the best. And nice to see 4 Tennesseans in the tournament.
  4. From the USA Wrestling 75kg Greco preview: 75 kg/165.35 lbs. The 75 kg weight class will see many of the same players as the previous 74 kg weight class. 2013 World Team member Andy Bisek is the class of 75 kg. He has earned gold in four international tournaments since competing at the World Championships, including the Granma Cup, Dave Schultz Memorial International, Haavisto Cup and NYAC International. He also boasts a bronze medal from the 2013 S.A. Lavriko Championships held in St. Petersburg, Russia. Bisek was also a World Team member in 2011. Michael Hooker wrestled Bisek first round. Hooker won by fall in 4:19. Not a bad start to his GR campaign.
  5. http://www.gocrimson.com/sports/wrest/2013-14/videos/20140416-g2x0z0fl Nice interview with former Brentwood wrestler Cameron Croy, starts at around the 1:20 mark.

  7. FS/GR practice will start after the AAU state. You can check Nashvillecatholicwrestling.com for updates or shoot me an email, gorhamdent@aol.com, and I'll send you the start date and practice times.
  8. Let me just say, if their middle school team generally enters their high school, we are in for a long period of Cleveland dominating. We've (NCW) wrestled them a couple times over the last few of years and they are beasts. Well coached, good kids, doing it the right way. As a middle school team, no one is really close to them right now. Congratulations.
  9. Absolutely amazing. He's always had a killer defense, it's nice to see it all coming together.
  10. Holy Cow. That win today was epic. Stopping the streak at 67. He's definitely on a roll. Just amazing.
  11. I could have sworn that Ryan and Baylor both beat Wilson Central.
  12. Bubba Derrick, 615-957-0906, is the coach.
  13. Small typo I'm sure. Alex Bars is MBA. By the way, l love reading your posts WesVLT. Well reasoned, well written, and often very insightful. Thank you.
  14. You are correct. Finally got him back in town!
  15. Forwarded this to his dad. He said he'd get you something today.
  16. About the same as the last few years. A handful of local duals and a lot of weekend tournaments on the road. We'll be in Cincinnati for a couple, Atlanta for a couple, Chattanooga, Kentucky, Philo again in Ohio, maybe Indiana and/or West Virginia. Really depends if we have a full team for some of these dual tournaments. Tough to get those upper weights. We start October 13 and end mid March, so if you know of anyone looking for more of a regional schedule, send them our way. I promise we'll get them beat.

  19. Murphy dominated to win again. Chalifoux lost a heartbreaker 13-12.
  20. That was a heck of a match with Murphy fighting off his back at the end of the first. Showed a lot of heart and dominated the second. Two TN AAs at the same weight and in DII. It will be fun to watch them battle the next 3 years. Has Murphy wrestled Meuller before? He is one tough hombre.

  22. How about his post match interview? If you missed it, first thing out of his mouth was "I know my girlfriend is watching back home, and I'd like to take this opportunity to officially ask her to the prom." Smooth.
  23. It's not just contact with his coaches. During the dead period there are no open facilities, no practice, and no weight training/conditioning allowed at the high schools.
