  1. Well, I'm assuming chs4life is not talking about the results for DII......what did Bumbi run? What was Alan Knox's time, anyways?......And, I am wondering the same thing as WesVols.....any live updates anywhere?
  2. Actually Kenwood, i don't mean to sound anal, but it was a 7:53.....I was hoping that would make it sound more impressive than it already is. Just wanted to be correct, ya know? But yes, Kenwood is right. Whats all this talk about these Siegel people? I wouldnt be too surprised if BA's team goes sub- 8:00 even without Bumbalough.
  3. Ya, I want to add that not only was it awesome that Andrew ran an 8:49, I want ya'll to look at the type of race he ran: SMART.....I think this is one of Andrew's biggest assets and talents. Yes, he has amazing ability, but just look at how he ran this race. He didnt make his move until late in the race. He kept himself in contact with the leaders, and saved himself for what he knew would have to be a big finish to beat out Kiptoo. He ran smart, and maybe we can all learn from the way he deals with races from a mental standpoint.
  4. Can someone tell me when and where state is this year? I'd appreciate it. Thanks.

    Clinic Bowl

OK, lets face it. Whats happening here is just normal rivalry crap. Folks, lets settle down and put all this stuff behind us. I went to BA, and frankly, this "classy this, classy that" stuff from both sides is getting sick and repetitive. I was not at the game, so I cannot comment on that, but it sounds like MBA just gave us an old fashioned- whipping. I dislike MBA just as much as anybody at BA, but, seriously, the only thing we can talk about right now is the game, because this "classy" stuff is never gonna get resolved. I'm sick of it....and I'm talkin to BA AND MBA people. So what do ya'll say to putting this one in the history books and moving on, eh? Congrats to both teams on great seasons, and good luck next year.

    Bumbi

Andrew Bumbalough is awesome. He is working on establishing himself as one of the best runners in the country. Not state, but country. After his performance at Great American, and now missing the state record by 3 seconds, I hope people give him the respects he deserves. Great Job, Andrew!
  7. C'mon guys and girls-- Running needs a little more support than this. Cheerleading's not even a real sport...... XC is so much tougher, and we can't even talk about how we are doing? What about a little bit of trash talk (not too much so CoachT don't get mad) but what's goin on here? Last year, people were all over this board....... I want SOMETHING to happen........PLEASE
  8. Andrew's very, very good..... But lets not jump to conclusions. I have full faith that Andrew can win two more state xc championships, however, the first one was definitely not "easy" and if he goes on to win two more, there will always be someone(s) trying to knock off the champion. Thats what always happens, and always will. So don't assume anything in xc. The past two years have provided for very exciting finishes, not just individually, but team- wise as well.

    BA Game Today

Ok folks, i got a couple of things to say here. First off, need anyone be reminded who the current state champs in softball are-- oh thats right, BA. Ok, next, I can understand a little trash talk, thats acceptable, ive done it before, we all have, its in a high schooler's nature. However, I will say it has gotten out of hand. People, lets calm down, and let this stuff play out on the field, can we? If you lose, you lose, and say, hey "we'll get 'em next time"-- But lets not gloat too much over your victories, 'cause all that matters is who's still standing at the end of the year. If you win, why can't you just be like "such-and such team played hard, good luck to them next game" Folks, lets clean up our acts. [Edited by caeagle16 on 4-30-03 8:32P]
  10. I am wondering why there is not many guys BA distance runners on the list? (I know nothing can be done now) But c'mon, they have proven themselves against many good teams this year, and Bumbi is the most dominant distance runner in the middle region. Any answers?
  11. OK, first off, the Tennessean needs to get its facts straight with that relay misinformation. Next, that harpeth hall girl needs to realize the competition she IS up against. HH lost by 5 POINTS!!! Hey, i thought 5 points was barely a win where I come from, but I guess its a blowout for them. Am I the only one who feels that way? Next, I have some serious issues with Coach Pruitt. I ran XC, and at meets where BA and MBA competed against each other, he was the biggest jerk off ever. Here's just a few examples. At one meet, Pruitt (MBA was hosting the event) claimed that he had designed a whole new course just for his meet (at Highway 100). However, COACH HARPER had designed that course the year before, and Pruitt claimed it as his own, when MBA had run at the meet the year before at which Harper had designed the new course. Next, as a runner, you people should hear what Pruitt yells at his runners in relation to BA runners. It is despicable. Not only does it make him look like a fool, it embarrasses other runners. Instead of encouragement to try and get his athletes to perform better, he uses threats and derrogatory comments towards other runners. Some of the stuff he says should not be repeated on this board. I seriously doubt that Pruitt was missquoted. No offense to MBA athletes, but MBA needs to consider its stance on Pruitt. Either explain to him that he needs to conduct himself with a little more dignity and respect for others, or consider a new coach. Unfortunately, he is an embarrasment to MBA. What happened to the days of "Hey they were a better team than us today. We'll try and get 'em next time." And I agree with Kenwoodrun about Bumbi's superstitious undies-- man, i wish there were more of those around-- oh wait, his nuts are bigger than Pruitt's and everybody else that he dusted at the meet, so he probably can't fit in to underwear, just running shorts like a REAL runner [Edited by caeagle16 on 4-14-03 5:30P]
  12. Houstonsdead, is there any particular reason you made your post completely in french?
  13. As soon as anyone has results from the chattanooga meet, please post them here (preferably DII, but it doesn't really matter) Everyone is interested in how their teams fared. Thanks
  14. I would like to put my vote in for BA. Like Brandon100 said, they have an awesome record. However, not only is it that, but they have the superfans. No matter how cold or hot, their senior guys are shirtless with letters painted on their chests. The opposing teams sideline is so close to their stands that players are constantly heckled by BA fans. They have amazingly loud air horns, megaphones, and voices that, many times, cause the opposing team to false start. Its loud, crazy, with crazy fans, and no matter what the weather, freezing with rain, snow, whatever, those senior superfans will always be there for years to come.
  15. Pete Compton is the most incredible pitcher ever. He's come back from shoulder surgery-- decide to not play basketball- and stick it out for baseball. Thats dedication. GO PETE
  16. Coach Perkinson at BA is a really good trainer. I heard he did a good job with the football team, and he even put in the extra time to help our Cross- Country team become more physical. His econ class is mighty awesome as well.
  17. No matter our disagreements over schools, I commend you on your decision to join the marines. It is a very noble cause, and I wish the best of luck to you. and I agree, GOD BLESS THE USA!!
  18. Ok coach Blue, first off, lets be clear that I too love the USA, so at least we have something in common, but thats not the point here. Lets start with the fact that you are a college sophmore. Are we not more mature than to not "hate" a school? I mean, I may not like BGA but I don't "hate" the school. As a matter of fact, I applied to go to school there after 6th grade. I respect the school. Now for your comment about putting Academy in quotes. Are you implying that BA is not worthy of being called an Academy? Brentwood ACADEMY has some of the most dynamic and tough teachers in the Nashville area. BA has some of the highest standards for its students around. After the end of every ACADEMIC quarter, the teachers sit down and go over EVERY student's performance that quarter. Now, if that doesn't show you that the teachers care about how their students perform, I don't know what does. Next as to your comment about BA being easy (and your proof being that we have 47 people with a GPA of 4.0 or higher) I have two things to say. Brentwood ACADEMY continually has one of the best graduating classes around when it comes to acceptances from premier colleges. Just to mention a few from this year, there is Vanderbilt, University of Richmond, Colorado, Samford (including one with a full ACADEMIC scholarship), Georgia (which is very tough for out of state students to get into because of the state of Georgia's Hope scholarship), a student going to UT who has gotten so many scholarships from UT that they will basically be being PAID to go there (on ACADEMIC scholarships), Furman University, University of Charleston, multiple students who have gone to Auburn on full ROTC scholarships (which are very competitive), Wheaton, and there are so many others that I cannot remember. Secondly, Brentwood ACADEMY has many more than 47 people with a GPA of a 4.0 or higher. To be on BA's privilege list, a sophmore or junior must have higher than a 4.0. Freshman are inelgible. There are at least 50 people on that list (if not more), not to mention the number of seniors who have higher than a 4.0, of wich I can think of at least 20, out of a class of 90. Brentwood Academy has one of the top 5 forensics (public speaking, in case you didn't know) programs in the COUNTRY. I believe thats much better than BGA. Oh, and we also play some sports. BGA can't even try to keep up with BA in cross- country or track, and if I'm not mistaken, Brentwood ACADEMY won the state Basketball championship this year, and BA played BGA this year, so you can't say anything there. Now, BA did not play BGA in football, so we cannot compare that. I don't know alot about wrestling or baseball, but I do know that BA had a state champion wrestler in Chase McTorry. Now, with the presentation of this information (and trust me, I have so much more) I must ask you, does your "hatred" towards BA come from jealousy? If not, I want to know, I MUST know in order for you to have a valid point in this argument, what specific event caused your hatred towards BA? Because if this "hatred" has no basis, you have ABSOLUTELY NO GROUNDS for "hatred" towards BA. Now, is it just me, or am I (a high school senior) winning a debate against a college sophomore? We'll let the people on this board decide that. P.S. I'm sorry if this post ended up sounding like a school bashing. Once again, I repeat the fact that I respect BGA for an all-around good school. Also, I would like to say that many times people get on CoachT.com just to act like they go to BA and make posts that make the chool look bad. I am not saying that has happened here, but lets all please keep that in mind. Now CoachBlue, YOU hit me with your best shot. [Edited by caeagle16 on 3-31-03 6:30P]
  19. Ok Coach Blue, i have a question for you: Where do you coach (if you coach) or attend school (if you are a student) If you don't respond to theat, i'll have to assume that you are too ashamed of your own school to stick up for it in comparison to Brentwood Academy. What has BA EVER done to you to make you say that you will "never give BA any respect" Have you ever met anyone from Brentwood Academy? I want to see your response before I all out destroy you on this issue. Thanks
  20. FrankL, please tell me you are not trying to start a recruiting argument again?? Ahhh, so frustrating, not just to BA people but all of us.... Let me think, how many court cases does BA have to win to make you people realize that maybe, just maybe possibly, they don't recruit???? (Including the supreme court of the United States, mind you) Anyways, this is not the thread to be discussing this subject-- there is a public/ private board on which i'm sure you can find plenty of recruiting arguments to join into. Please take this elsewhere
  21. I was going to try to stay out of this thread and just view the responses.... but Hatfield, WHERE is your basis for your statement??? Like Stokomo and TNBballMan said, would Jordan be patting himself on the back?? I think not. He has every right in the world to do so, but Jordan has RARELY, IF EVER, "patted himself on the back." Nevertheless, I hope this idea does not detract from what I am trying to say. And Jordan said it for me. The message about teamwork is irrefutable, even if he was trying to "pat himself on the back." What he said was very true, and EVERYONE can learn from his words of advice.
  22. mhs, thank you for your response. You hit the nail on the head. I guess I forgot about the fact that, as you said, his (Jordan's) remarks either fell on deaf ears or mad his teammates mad. This definetly seems to be a problem in all levels of sports, especially high school, when I talk to players on a team, basketball or not, who can't take advice from a coach or older teammate. The coach normally has a purpose behind the drills, film, and other stuff he does-- (i'll admit, there are some bad coaches out there, though)-- but many young players are too caught up with their own advance ment and do not pay attention to helping the TEAM. You get a good mark for pointing that out to me. [Edited by caeagle16 on 3-12-03 6:28P]
  23. Everyone, I would like you to read some words from a MSNBC article and the all-time great after his loss to the New York Knicks by one point this weekend. It was his last game at Madison square garden. Just read: The loss wasn˜t for his lack of trying. But when it was over, Jordan, impeccably upholstered in a dark plum-colored suit and starched white shirt as crisp as a January morning in Montana, took no pleasure in what he had done. His team, the Wizards, had lost by a point to the Knicks, one of several teams they are battling for the final playoff spot in the NBA East, and, when you lose, stats mean nothing. ˜It˜s very disappointing when a 40-year-old man has more desire than a 25-, 26-, 27-year-old,˜ he said, in one sentence damning his own supporting cast. It has been a mystery to him throughout this, his final year in the NBA. ˜If you make a mistake in October, you can˜t make the same mistake in March.˜ ˜A perfect ending is when things just happen because you˜re playing hard and doing the things you need to do,˜ he tried to explain. He played hard against the Knicks. His teammates didn˜t. It˜s not age that makes the difference, he said, it˜s the way you play. Here's the most important part, folks: He said his teammates are too consumed with being ˜macho and cool˜ to risk losing their dignity diving after balls and rolling around on the floor. You knew from listening to him that he has preached his gospel to them, but the lesson hasn˜t been taken to heart. It˜s time to kick it up a notch, and he˜s the only one kicking. I (caeagle16) feel this is a huge problem with today's players. Like Jordan said, his teammates are too consumed with being "macho" and "cool." Whatever happened to teams working together to get to the playoffs and then fighting for their lives to get to the finals? Look at the great Bulls teams of the 90's. Jordan knew where to push his teammates and when. How come high school players can't play as a team anymore? (I know there are many that do, but it seems the trend is heading away from team play) Why do we go to the high schools to find the next great? I'll tell you-- because there are very few great basketball leaders left. The great players, yes they can score, however, they make their team great too. Those players are getting less and less. Coaches, players, and fans, if we want to see basketball return to its glory days and its greatness, lets focus on this generation (our high schoolers) learning to play as a team, and learning to lead the team at the right places at the right times.
  24. I will give credit to Slay on defense, but I have a feeling he learned how to take charges from his brother. (Can you say flop?)
  25. BEFORE everone starts to narrow down this D2 championship into a two team race between ND and FRHS, let me say a couple of things. First, the officiating at the reigion tourney game between FRHS and BA. I know I'm going to get wailed on for dogging the officials, but it did seem like BA could not go to either end of the court without getting called for some foul or another that simply should not have been called. I watched the game away from either student section, and I must say the officiating was terrible. Now, lets say that the officials were justified in making EVERY ONE of those foul calls. I am willing to wager that BA's head coach has dealt with the problem of unnecessary fouls with his players and gotten them in line. As for the person who said that BA was able to beat FRHS because they didn't have Joe Thompson, I disagree. BA beat FRHS TWICE (yes, TWICE) in the regular season, and they had an off night against FRHS in the reigion tourney. BA is THE REAL DEAL, so all you doubters out there, make sure you are prepared. This will be one of the closest State Tournaments in recent history, with the skill levels of FRHS, ND, and BA. So, I must part with this comment: Boys, we are in for a real treat
