Fanny should definately be Defensive Player of the year, his stats are far better than the winner's and did much more FOR his team, given that he was such a big part in getting his team to the STATE CHAMPIONSHIP game, not to mention the much tougher competion

manchild, shut up pee wee is a great football player, so is fisher and tibbs (since he won tonight), it's all about the voting and pee wee didn't win it, the real test is the next level, so we'll all see then can accept what happened, maybe talk about it some, enjoy the conversations, or you can whine and cry and change... NOTHING, you do nothing but make yourself and all the fans/players/coaches... anybody, look bad and we don't appreciate it congrads hillsboro, DOMINATING, offense got the job done, defense shut us down west, great job guys, work hard and you can get there again, great season

rebelman06, u're not a football player, and if you are, you need to learn to do your talking on the field if it's only gonna be whining and trash like you do, go back to school and grow up west's running game is JUST A BIT stronger than maryville's, but the passing is lacking, so that and the offensive side of the ball goes to maryville, the defense probably goes to west in the running game and passing, only because of the pressure that west is able to get on the qb, so i don't really think that maryville would have provided a better game tonight, they mighta scored more, but so would hillsboro, but we won't know, so no sense in me carrying it on farther hillsboro just wore west out, the lack of offense just killed them, there's no doubt, although it was a 21 pt victory, i think the west defense still did pretty good, the 21 pts were the 3rd lowest output of the season for the burros and 7 came w/ less than 2 minutes to go in the game, so i think the west d definately held their own as for the burro d, wow, they are really something, they shut down west in every aspect of the game, i couldn't have been more impressed with their defense, a more balance team might give them trouble, but they disposed of the trojans easily i think that the top 4 teams in the state played in the semis, i think that hillsboro is #1 and it's a three way tie for #2, i won't say that west is better than maryville or melrose, but i definately won't say that they're worse, it was ugly, but give them credit, please, they worked hard for it and gave it their all great season trojans, ya'll definately impressed me w/ the turnaround, may not mean much coming from me (cause 90% of ya know who i am), but yall have my respect for being great football players, good luck to next year's trojans and for this year's seniors... keep the heads high and remember what you did, from a 36-5 senior to all the 35-7 seniors, great job

maybe no sour grapes, but very ridiculous opinions... maryville showed up, west held them to 14 twice, it was only a matter of finally putting 15 or more on the board, maryville knows how and when to show up for a game and they did not stay at home for the state semi-finals, don't use that or the field as an excuse i thought west would finally get some respect, but saying that knox central and chatt central are better than them is insane, west may not be better than maryville all the time, but saturday they were, if anything, i'd call these teams dead even and say that it's a toss up who wins everytime these 2 squads meet, knox central may be close to west, but chatt central? no way west lost 3 VERY close games at the beginning of the season with an incredibly young offense, there's no way to tell absolutely, it's impossible, but i'm willing to seriously bet that if west plays jeff co. or cleveland at the end of the season, playoffs in the particular (and i know jeff is 5A, this is all in theory) that west wins by 2 TDs the hillsboro game.. i don't know about, good luck to west, i think they CAN, but i won't say they will, but i do know that that west DID beat maryville, and came 8 pts from doing it twice, give them the respect they deserve, i think most anybody would agree it's due to them and you owe it to them

just touching on the comment earlier about transferring from iran... while growing up on the tough streets of Spot in the Desert County, mufasa (al's NFL Europe father) would feed him pure steel and petroleum to wash it down as a youngster to toughen him up... this might explain the craving for buses (might also explain their choice of eventually moving to iowa) i hear that, after the game this weekend, they're thinking about erecting a statue of mira at west high, but i've heard complications arose... if you have any info on that, i'd appreciate it i've also heard, i believe it was on his SportsCentury biography, that mira missed most of his childhood football due to being in various earthquake-ridden countries for help, he volunteered his time to help move wrecked houses and large boulders by himself, with his bare hands... an amazing athelete with a kind heart for helping others, in exchange for such acts, i hear he recieved many gifts from the natives... his favorite being some liquid that would provide his "super strength" and allow him to communicate with certain objects such as palm trees and doors that would tell him the keys to life, you can always tell when he's on this drink when he's running around telling you "it's OV"... then you know some force stronger than our comprehension is at work, and that you'd better let it be amazing guy this al mira, amazing guy

DANGIT, screwed that one up, i know hillsboro is 13-1... sorry but anyways... Morristown West in a close one if the offense gets going, i think they can hold Hillsboro's offense just enough to edge it out, but that's ONLY if the trojan O can put some points on the board

Great post mhs... that's, no doubt, one of the best post i've read since joining I'm also glad to see that West got some respect, at 2-4... we're still down in the series, but maybe we can keep inching closer And, although they were still outta line at times, in the defense of my fellow trojan fans, you have to realize the emotion involved with this win... I really don't think maryville has faced, recently, an opponent which has dominated them so much and which was favored so much over them, nobody gave us any chance to win, this is South Carolina over UT or something (as in how big the win was, not in how good each team is... nobody wants to be USC ) so cooler heads should prevail, but let the shock and excitement of the big win wear off and i'm sure the mutual respect and class will show up again from most all posters as opposed to the select few... and another note, several posts don't even mention west when trashing maryville, which leaves me to wonder if they're west fans or not, those 2 or 3 posts names seem pretty new, pretty convenient to trash somebody and make somebody look bad Maryville will no doubt continue to be a powerhouse in TN football, this posts shows what a group of winners can act like and how a group of winners SHOULD act, hopefully west will win so continuously that we can expect it and lose humbly when it does happen just like you have shown mhs... best of luck to maryville next year and GO TROJANS at the 'boro

I picked mo'west b/c i love my trojans and wish the best for 'em... truth is, i know they have their work cut out for 'em, maryville is the best team in the state (be the best... beat the best... you know the saying), so i just hope my boys show up and give it all they got, b/c that's all they can control, not how maryville plays or how the ball bounces much respect to maryville, great team, obviously a great winning tradition, hopefuly one day mo'west will be up there with 'em in the ring count and considered a powerhouse also, maybe one day our region will help us out and give us some real challenges, jeff co. finally stepped it up a notch, let's see some other teams so we aren't the laughing stock conference of east TN... sorry, sidetracked... good luck to both teams, thank you to the maryville fans who also get on here and try to talk facts as opposed to trash, good to see that, and i apologize for any mo'west fans who don't do the same (although i'm convinced that not all of this trash talking is from mo'west fans, instead from ppl making up names to make us look bad)... anyhow, i'll see yall there friday night and may the winner carry a certain golden ball back with them from their trip to the 'boro

i really worry that us trojan fans and more importantly to me, the trojan players (having been one for 4 years) get a bad name because people will listen to the one bad seed that gets on here and talks trash in such stupid ways... from most of the trojan fans and players... we are looking for a GREAT game friday, we're always happy to play maryville 2 times in one year b/c that means that we get to play the best and that we've made it to the semis, playing yall also means playing a team w/ class as opposed to some other teams we play every year, sure we have confidence, it's kinda required to pull out any victory, but i know it'll be a hard fought victory for whoever comes out on top, good luck to both teams and go trojans!

i really think this game could go either way. i know that all teams improve, as so many people have said, but i look at west's changes from earlier in the season and it's crazy. i'm sure maryville has improved too, no doubt about it, but one close game earlier in the season didn't show much dominance from either team so hopefully this one will be just as exciting. as usual, i'm pulling for my trojans, so i gotta say west by... 6, but i'm just as clueless 'bout how it'll turn out as anybody else. ya keep talking about "if we don't make 6 turnovers it's a blowout"... well, ya DID make 6 turnovers and it WASN'T a blowout, mabye west forced those turnovers, i could say "if our offense had showed up that first game, it woulda been a blowout", not only is that giving your defense no credit what-so-ever, but it's looking at "if"s which do us no good, i'm proud of how my boys played maryville last game and how they've come since then, i think we can all admit that these are 2 very good teams and each deserve credit for the hard fought game at maryville in week 4. maryville is a great team, i played them 4 times while at west and now i'm going to watch the game as a fan, lots of class, probably what i like most about them, should be a great game and i just hope that whoever takes this one brings the championship home with 'em from hillsoboro/melrose

west big in this one, they whipped up on 'em last time and they'll do it again, the defense is playing awesome, the offense is stepping up, west has won, what, 6 out of 7... 7 out of 8... don d. woods knows what's up, he's a smart coach, i can assure you that west is confident (crazy after a 37 pt drubbing in the last meeting, huh?) but they are by no means OVERconfident, they'll show up to play, it's the quarterfinals, they're not that stupid and, like always, i wanna let it be known, i'm a west graduate and fan, not a player anymore, the players themselves aren't the ones talking the trash, just me

West shouldn't have a problem w/ tennessee high, they haven't in the past and i don't anticipate it this year w/ west's strong team. Everybody has talked about how weak region one was this year (even weaker than 2... wow) so i really can't imagine that TN high is really prepared for the competition they have coming up having only played a pretty good science hill team (although i'm not sure how good the VA school is, they could be serious competition too). So i'm saying west big in this one b/c they won't be caught looking ahead, they remember the close games b/w these 2 schools in the past couple years and they know to take this year one game at a time... close into half, blowout in 2nd half West - 38 TN - 10 and west can beat greeneville twice in one season, they've done it 2 straight years since that ONE loss to them in the playoffs, they've won 7 of the last 8 b/w these schools, west can name how many more they want, greenway or no, they pull out another victory over the devils should both teams make it like we all expect

i'd say mo'town east over greeneville whether greenway plays or not, the 21 positions that did play friday night were not very impressive at all against west... greenway may be good, haven't seen him play this year, but nobody is worth that many pts or yards from the thumping they recieved, east seems to be back on a... mini-roll after losing to west, maybe they'll keep it up, guess we'll see friday

i went to the game, definately a great performance by west coulda been alot uglier, west obviously called off the dogs to show some class, good to see some passes getting caught this game, still had some bounce right off the chests that shoulda been caught... giving minnich alot worse numbers than he deserves... the kid is definately coming around how many personal fouls did greeneville have? that was hard to believe, if i remember correctly it was around 4 in the first half... mighta even finished w/ about 6, but i'm not sure 'bout those, that's just what i thought i counted hopefully west will gain back some of that respect that they lost when losing to 3 GREAT teams by very close scores, these guys can be for real when they play a complete game e-man, caleb, pee-wee... extremely impressive as usual, these guys are something else take care of volunteer and cherokee and good luck in the playoffs trojans

that's no west fan, please ignore what he's saying, it's no doubt somebody trying to make our fans look bad, sure west is confident that they still have a good team despite the losses, but we know good and well that those losses are still there, we know our place for the time being, we've been knocked down a bit and hope to work with this STRONG schedule to make up for it in the playoffs like we haven't had in the past, but again, please ignore the state champion predictions, west is thinking one game at a time right now, not 10 weeks from now, the true west fans and players alike know that

since so many defenses have shown up and completely shut down maryville... trurebelplaya... i guess you have a point there (extreme sarcasm), maryville is just awesome on offense and no defense came anywhere close to stopping them last year, i think west's 28 pts they gave up was like... 3rd lowest maryville scored all year, don't gimme that, cleveland was a HUGE game and west gave up 10 pts, held barber to 3 yds in the first half, this defense is for real and for the record, i'm not talking trash to maryville, i'm not taking anything away from maryville's win against west or anything like that, i'm defending my boys, west's defense let them down in 2 games last year, both to maryville (didn't play well against greeneville, but still scored 1 or 2 defensive TDs) so maybe west can show up for the big games, but simply got outplayed in those 2 contests against the rebels once again, i'm looking for west to have a GREAT defense this year, these guys have worked really hard over the off season and they deserve it

from a HUGE mo'west fan... i dunno 'bout that offense, i'm just hoping they can turn it around from the cleveland game... last i heard they were doing really good against cocke co. so far (don't get me wrong, i know that's not saying much... but baby steps), not much experience could explain the first game though, i hope and look for them to get MUCH better as the season carries on and expect them to be the normal "force to reckon with" that they have been in years past

billmorgan... just what do u base that opinion of morristown east on? their ONE win.. their new coach (the 3rd in 4 yrs or something like that), they've done nothing to warrant that opinion of them except let alot of hype build up, now should this new coach be just what east needs... i'll eat my words, but i'm tired of the hype, it's been said years before, it's been shut up time and time again, cut out the bandwagon and saying they're gonna be awesome just b/c somebody else does, we'll see what really happens JPATS... i agree w/ only one part of your comment... rice at qb... nothing at all against minnich, good kid, good qb, but rice can throw and utilize the option out the wazoo, and just b/c somebody has size doesn't mean they're automatically gonna be awesome on the offensive line (fanny and e-fred), they have the best players playing where they should be 96% of the positions, don woods knows what he's doing GO TROJANS

this topic is a waste of everybody's time, including mine, i'm an idiot for even taking the time to reply, east will not beat west this year, this same trash was said when frasier showed up at east and... wow, he did something else huh, when you beat west... or keep their starters on the field for more than 2 1/2 quarters for that matter, you can give you opinion on how good they are, west knows how to work, how to play, how to win, like it or not, they are a class act, 46-6 in 4 yrs... man, get off it, they are good, they are really good, and maybe one day the ball will bounce right and they can get themselves some nice shiney rings, but they'll hafta get through some real competition first, east still has to get through the joke competition, you made the playoffs 3 yrs ago at 1-9 if i remember correctly... maybe 4 yrs ago, and haven't since, it's RIDICULOUS to talk trash to west, play 'em on the field, lose to 'em on the field and go on your way, and i'll say right now that i'm a FORMER west player, so as to not get any of my boys a bad rap for talking trash, GO TROJANS

of course i'm kinda biased, and i'll probably get laughed at for this one b/c i read how most ppl feel about them, but morristown west loves tough competition, BEFORE YOU JUDGE THEIR NONCONFERENCE SCHEDULE of the past, look at their scrimmages, central, DB, elizabethton, farragut, south doyle, oak ridge... when people started backing out, don woods had riverdale on the line, baylor has been scheduled and backed out, anderson co. year in and year out, bradley central a couple years ago, mo'town west would love to play w/ those big boys and their schedule this year shows that they're working on it, from a former player, GO TROJANS

if what you say is true, and cleveland's defense is gonna be really good this year, it should be a defensive showdown opening week b/c i'm looking at a really strong morristown west defense this year, i hope they can come through like they have the potential to, but it's all determined on the field obviously... so if you're looking for some hard hits, m'town west vs cleveland... i'll be there

i dunno, maybe everything i'm typing isn't appearing on your screen, but i distinctly see in my last post that i said maryville was a better team and has proved to be the last two years... they've beaten west 3 outta the 4 losses the trojans have suffered and the other was a fluke at cocke co.... i never said they were "world beater" nor did i say that they could "beat everyone".. i didn't compare us to hillsboro or memphis east as far as talent, i was just saying that talking about "only winning the IMAC" is not a good argument b/c there's only one team a year that wins more than their conference and some dont' even win that... and that's the state champions, you talk about us putting ourselves on a pedastal, that's exactly what you're doing w/ cleveland and i say again, i'm more than a fan, i play for mo'town west, you sit in the stands, i entertain you w/ the playing, there's a difference, i'll close w/ this... morristown west has not been the best team in the state in the last few years, they have been beaten mainly by maryville alone, they are, however, an excellent team, any denying that is strictly jealousy or just ridiculous, they may not win state, but they can compete for it with anybody else, they may or may not win it this year, but they have as good a chance as anybody, west has a quality program and the players and fans alike are proud to be a part of it, just as any other team in the state has the right to be, regardless of whether they've won state, they deserve respect for their accomplishments, not critics who put them down merely b/c they're jealous or just need a team to dislike, we dont' claim we can beat anybody, we're well aware that we can't, but we do know that we are a good team, that we can hang w/ some of the best and that we're not afraid to take on anybody
