  1. I do not know the reasoning behind the format. It has been in place since the formation of the Super 7 as far as I know.
  2. Your source is correct. MBA secured a first round bye and the right to play at home in the playoffs by winning at MUS last Friday.
  3. Redtwin and WesVols are right, there will be no holding back by either team in this one. In spite of the intense rivalry between these two teams, there is much mutual respect. Both sides know that the team that makes the fewest mistakes will win. If you don't have a game to attend this Friday, come on out to BA and watch two of the best teams in the state go after it. I guarantee you it will be worth the trip!!
  4. We played Catholic a couple of times in recent years, and I could tell that they were doing a much better job with their program. It almost seems like the program has improved right along with their facilities. Cloudland has a very good D1 A team this year, but DII AA teams like Catholic would compete favorably with the D1 AAA's, so it is almost unfair to compare the two. This year will be the best opportunity that the Highlanders have to win the championship in quite some time.
  5. Who will George fire as the scapegoat for this loss? The Marlins deserve much more credit for this championship than their first one. The first time they were stacked with big money talent. This time they won with hustle, guts, and clutch pitching.
  6. ie3, this is why I feel like Catholic could handle Cloudland.
  7. IE3, props to North Greene for scheduling a DII team. AusDan, probably a good game, but you guys would handle Cloudland. Your team has too much depth this year.
  8. There were more fans earlier in the season before Kenseth got so far ahead. The points race is over in the Winston Cup.
  9. Did anyone notice that the cameras kept flashing shots of Steinbrenner when the Marlins scored tonight? Old George looked like he just ate a bad bratwurst!! Go Fightin Fish!! Three down, one to go.....
  10. Coach Pearson was on the staff at MBA for a while a few years back. There is no doubt he is a fine man, an excellent football coach, a master teacher of the game. MBA's own current coaches Coach Edd Caudill and David Brown are Dickson County boys who are a part of Coach Pearson's legacy. They both exemplify the character and skills of Coach Pearson, and we are blessed to have them as part of the MBA family. Dickson County and Lincoln County are two teams that MBA fans hold in high regard for several reasons. They both desrve to be mentioned in any discussion about who is the best team in the state this year.
  11. They have an excellent senior quarterback in John Conrad McCrary. MUS always plays the Big Red tough and I am sure this year will be no exception.

    Tom Santi

Congratulations to Tom. He is a gentleman, an excellent student, and a heckuva a football player. His parents have a lot to be proud of. Good luck for the rest of the season and in the future.
  13. Are you going to the game? I look for DLS to win in a pretty one sided contest. Do you really think ECA stands a chance?

    At Christian Bro

This will be another classic DII contest. McCallie will bring a good group of talented players led by Ryan Moore that will play hard. CBHS should win with defense, but they will need to bring their "A" game to do so. There are few easy wins in the conference. CBHS 17 - McCallie 7

BigRed3, Did you get my PM?
  16. Great interview with Coach Thompson this week. Lincoln County has several fans in the MBA community. GO FALCONS.
  17. Gentlemen. This is my final comment on your feud with 64. I did the research on the posts you guys are referring to. Your feud carried over from threads related to DB. Let me remind you that he did not start anything about DB on this thread. You guys did. Keep your arguments on the DB threads. His posts concerning the national scene are not inflammatory or demeaning to DB or anyone else. If you guys want to post in this these threads, stay on topic. Should you choose to continue to spam the threads with your personal issues with 64, you will be reported to the mods for posting off topic and violating the terms of service.
  18. WaCoJaCo, Some of us enjoy the national perspective that 64 brings to the board. I can certainly appreciate the fact that you are not interested in the national picture, and that you have personal issues with 64. Would you do the rest of us a favor and keep your feud on threads related to DB since they are not related to this subject? Thanks.
  19. The Yankees are the best team money can buy. Look at that payroll figure, three times more than the Fightin' Fish. Money buys talent but not team chemistry. Marlins in 7.
  20. The content of your post indicates that you have not been a regular reader of this board. For some reason you have initiated a personal attack on us based on some seriously flawed assumptions on your part to vent some apparent personal frustration. I have gone on record here numerous times saying that the small rural schools need some relief from the current classification system. If you were a regular reader/contributor to the p/p board, you would know that I have said more than once that I graduated from a small town public high school in East Tennessee and received my degree from a public university. My sons graduated from MBA. In his latest message, itzme has eloquently outlined the point I was trying to make with my post. Please notice that I never said all public school supporters resent private schools and students. You are naive indeed my friend if you don't think resentment is out there based on often misguided accusations of elitism. In a way, your own post is a reflection of that fact. The irony of all this is that many families who choose to send their children to private schools do so by making huge personal sacrifices. Contrary to popular belief, MBA and the other private schools have plenty of kids on campus from middle class families who live in modest neighborhoods. drive experienced vehicles, and have two parents working full time jobs to pay tuition. That is exactly where I am personally. It is a sacrifice my wife and I have made gladly because giving our children the best education available has always come ahead of our personal gratification. In case you aren't aware of it, MBA and BA (itzme's school) are charter members of D2, so I don't think we are afraid of the challenge. I just happen to believe that all Tennessee high school athletes should have the opportunity to play together in a framework that balances competiton as fairly as possible. The athletic field should be a place where kids from all walks of life can come together, lay it all on the line physically and emotionally, and leave with mutual respect for each other. To close, I also want to congratulate you on your financial success. Since you have so modestly chosen to share the details of your personal wealth with us, I hope you won't be offended if I ask you to consider sacrificing $12 to become a CoachT Plus member. Surely you have had $12 dollars worth of fun in almost a year of posting!
  21. Congrats to Knox Catholic on a big win. You guys are the real deal this year.
  22. Galilee, Thanks for reminding us of one of the reasons we have athletics as a part of the high school experience. It is great to hear that the football program at Mitchell is helping bring the community back together and encouraging young people to succeed. May God bless you personally as you seek to make a difference in the lives of these kids.
  23. ELA, you are making more sense every day. Can you convince StanTrott? What is good for the goose is good for the gander. Assign those schools, both public and private, with open zones an appropriate enrollment multiplier, reclassify and play ball.
  24. WOW. Some very successful football programs on that list! Could it be that open zoning really does make a difference? Substitute Ezell, DCA, Boyd Buchannan, or several other privates for "MHS" and "Maryville" in REBELRON's paragraph. Sounds familiar doesn't it?...and from a public school supporter no less! I love it. REBELRON is discovering just what happens when you build a successful program, public or private, in today's world . Either way, consistent winners will be subjected to innuendos of impropriety and unfair advantage by those who fail to match that success.
  25. Stan is right. Tennessee is not getting the top talent in the league by a long shot. If you guys want to point a finger, look no further than the individual who allowed super recruiter Rodney Garner to leave and go to GEORGIA of all places! The Vols will continue to suffer from that boneheaded move for YEARS to come.
