  1. ondeck23, You are right about Coach Taylor's assisstant coach. I was just caught up in the moment about our district and having to deal with the mental anguish that has coachrop in a complete and udder slumber. I do not know if he will recover from the week that will always be remembered as :"the ripping of coachrop". Back to Coach Taylor's assisstant coach: He just gets it done. He carries that clipboard like he was born with it. He and "the board" are as one. I have even seen him rise out of his chair and actually go to the scorer's table and ask what was the # of the kid who just fouled. He has mellowed some this year after getting ripped by an official in Waverly last year for actually coaching. You do not see many coaches actually getting repremanded by a game official for doing their job. LOL. By the way, I have noticed that CW's bookkeeper gets it done also. I noticed this year that a game offical exchanged some words with him also. What is going on down in Waverly? CW is just loaded with extraorinarly talented officals! Look for this to be a big factor come tourney time! LOL. Good luck to all 10AA teams tonight: boys and girls. The next couple of weeks could be fun and interesting. OUT!!!
  2. Coachrop, I would have thought by now you would have completely recovered, both mentally and physically from your ripping that you took from Sycamore posters. I guess you are soft. stink it up and get it done! I feel your pain brother. Tonight, CW makes a long jaunt down to lewisburg to face Marshall County. Could be a much needed tune up for the 10AA stretch run. Marshall is athletic, which will give them a very similar look to what Central, Cheatham, and Waverly will give them down the stretch. It will give Coach Taylor and his extraoridinary assistant coach a chance to work on some things that may help down the line. 10AA is just a heck of a district. Whoever makes it out can make a run deep into tourney time. Good Luck to everyone! Coachrop, I just talked our school psychologist, and she has a spot at 10:45 am today if you need a session to help recover from this past week of the coacht pounding you took. OUT!!
  3. Creek Wood picked up a HUGE win for their second year program last night against Dickson County. I understand that Dickson County had to forfeit a few matches, but nonetheless, CW got the win. I hope this go a long way in establishing confidence for the RED HAWKS. Good luck the rest of the way for both Dickson County and Creek Wood.
  4. Will be a wild finish!! What it all boils down to is this: No one wants to finish fourth in the district tourney, that would mean playing Giles County. But, they may be due for an upset and anyone in district 10AA can win at anytime. Each team has go to players that can control the game if they are hot. Cheatham and Waverly have the edge right now. Creek Wood can make up some ground with home games against Waverly, Cheatham and Central. They also have a road game against Central. Harpeth can make a serious run if Goodwin is shooting the ball well, which he always does. Central and Burney will be a threat, especially in the tourney since it is at Central, as well as the region tourney. Cheatham seems to be the most unselfish team right now. Their kids seem not to care who gets it done on the court as long as they get the win. Good Luck to all teams.

    10aa

It is hard to call the games in 10AA. Each team plays real well on their own court and each team has "go to" players. As of right now, CHeatham and Waverly seem to be playing the best. Cheatham is real solid on both ends of the court and Waverly has 2 guys that beat you any night. Come tourney time, look for Central to have an edge getting to play at home. Creek Wood could be a threat if they are shooting well. I do not think anyone wants to finish fourth in the tourney because they then get to play Giles. I look for a flury of a finish and a great 10AA tourney. Good Luck to all teams.

iheartwurdup; you always blame coach jones and the jv. who do you think gets the team in the whole in the first place, not coach jones or the jv. how many more excuses can you come up with. PEACE
  7. shs.5.0 I think I can speak on behalf of all my CW cohorts: We can take a ripping and bashing with the best of them. I don't think we took the grandmother deal like you think it was taken. All this is in good fun. We hope that it does "help" in the creation of a healthy, competitive, good-natured rivalry between the 2 schools. For years, we are going to play each other in just about all sports. Our middle schools (Sycamore Middle, Charlotte Middle, and William James Middle) have started a good rivalry over the past few years and I think both school's students are just trying to continue that into what will be the best days of their lives: High School. In ending, I would like to say: "Don't sing it, bring it"! it is all in good fun and we can take it. I just hope Creek Wood can enjoy the same athletic success that Sycamore has had in a short amount of time. I think that is a tribute to good coaching, and good kids with the right attitude. You should be commended as a school. Good Luck.
  8. It looks like it will interesting come Tourney time in Cunningham. Nuetral court=anything can happen! Good Luck to all teams in district play. coachrop, come by today and and I will take care of your "ripping". I have some sutures and some cotton swabs. No charge. See you Friday in Lewisburg. "I'M OUT"!!
  9. Funny, I guess Sycamore has decided that they would play their worst district games against lowly Creek Wood. I saw both games and Creek Wood has simply outplayed Sycamore this year. Granted, Sycamore has a fine program. Creek Wood only hopes to have the same success that Sycamore has enjoyed in their brief years as a school. Not many schools have enjoyed success as quickly as Sycamore has. For that, they deserve all the credit in the world. Good coaching + good players = SUCCESS! Good luck Sycamore, and we will see you touney time.
  10. Creek Wood Red Hawks beat Sycamore last night in Pleasant View. From what I saw last night, Creek Wood beat Sycamore's varsity team last night, not their JV. Terrance Darden had 20 points last night, including 5 3's. Jody Derra had 16 points and 11 boards last night from the point position. Good game from Sycamore's Pierce. He could dominate a game if wanted to or worked harder. The Freshman point for Sycamore, Lohin, needs to be on the floor. Big win for Creek Wood's 2nd year program. The Creek Wood Crazies were in attendance. Great Job! OUT !!

anyone can win the district tourney. I would watch out for Montgomery Central because they host the district and region. They are tough on their own floor. Burney==Player! Noel Smith==Player! Nichols==Player! Dansby==Player! Derrah==Player! Pierce==Player!! Anyone who knows 10AA knows that each team has go to players. Good Luck to all teams. OUT!
  12. The states best kept secret: Dickson County Junior guard--Cory Phleiger. Unstoppable. 6'2", plays like he is 6'7". Great range, great leaper, great leader, great grades, but most important: great person. I personally saw him score about 20-24 straight points over a couple of periods against Brentwood high in a Holiday tournament. I hope someone people come out to watch DC play, especially during tourney time!! OUT!!
  13. I recently saw a Dickson County-Brentwood game that Dickson County won convincingly. I have seen Brentwood play in the past. The Brentwood players of the recent past were disciplined and played hard. The recent game I saw had a couple of Brentwood players get technical fouls during the game. Maybe out of frustration, but still not the way to go. They did play hard, but wore their emotions on their sleeve. After both techs, 4 free throws were made and on the possessions DC scored, including 1 trey by Phleiger from Dickson. That is a 9 point swing in itself. When a new coach comes in, you have to give him time to install a system and lay some groundwork. Brentwood fans do not need to panic yet.
  14. I'm a football coach, but I will post on here anyway. Yes, all coaches are underpaid, especially baseball coaches. For instance, in our system, the cheerleading sponsors get more than our baseball coaches at the middle school and high school level. I also coach basketball, so I do not feel bad in posting what I am about to say. As a basketball coach, I prepare for practice by making out the schedule for the day, mop the floor (5 minutes at best), get the rack of balls, blow the whistle, then practice (15 minutes pf prep time at best). As a baseball coach, I had to drag the field, cut the grass, weed-eat the fence line, paint the lines, get the roll-away onto the field, move the mound and plate tarps, put down the bases, get all the equipment (truck full) on the field, rake the mound and plate, and then I get to practice. After practice, I have to drag the field, rake the mound and plate, bring back the tarps, take up the bases, load the equipment. Total time of pre and post practice prep time can total 2 hrs. But, basketball coaches get paid a lot more than baseball coaches. Is this right? NO. Just an opinion. What do you think? Again, I have coached football, baseball, and basketball, so I have seen this happen--to me. LOL.
  15. Close game the last time they played-boys and girls. Should be the start of a good, healthy rivalry. Both sides are still good friends-coaches and players. For anyone of you interested: Junior gaurd: Cory Phleiger from Dickson is the real deal. Explosive. He does not get mentioned much, but the kid can play. The Lady Cougars have a great program and system: solid. Both of Creek Wood's teams are at .500 ball. Not bad for second year programs. They have already won some games they have NO business winning. Good coaching from both DC and CW. Good Luck
  16. As a coach, I will NEVER discuss playing time with a parent or guardian. If it goes that way: "this coversation is over." If a parent ever brings up another player other than their own: I will not discuss another player other than your child, or this conversation is over." However, I will discuss your child's grades, behavior, attitudes, or problems thay they may have in the classroom. A coach should never have to defend his opinion of playing time for a player.
  17. Maybe Coach Holt thinks that Coffey provides a spark coming off the bench when needed. Most of the time, the 1st person off the bench is there to provide a big spark. There is usually not a big difference in ability from a starter to the 1st player off the bench. Coffey probably plays better off the bench because he can watch a few minutes and mentally adjust to the game and then come in and capitalize on what he saw from the bench. Just an opinion. Whatever Coach Holt is doing, it seems to me it might be working. 1 State Championship, beating a great BA team last night. ?????

    Sycamore

Redhawk1 is not a moron. I was at the game. Sycamore got out quick on Creek Wood in the 1st. Creek Wood put together a great run in the 2nd quarter with 2 starters on the bench. CW then opened the 3rd quarter with a 10-0 run in the first 1.5 minutes of the third. Coach Jones then did the smart thing- he sat his starters for a lack of effort, especially on the defensive end. More coaches should do this and not worry about parents complaining. Not bashing, just reality. Sycamore has built a great athletic program in a short time and Creek Wood is trying to do the same thing. Syamore should make a second half run in the district if the "starters" can play together. Good Luck to both Sycamore and Creek Wood.
  19. Waverly is very tough, especially at home, but do not count out the Red Hawks. If they get hot, they are capable of putting up a lot of points in a hurry. They have a rotation of 8-9 guys, with 8 of them able to score at any time. If they can contain Ricco and Bubba, they have a chance. Waverly is a great atmosphere for basketball.
  20. Sycamore may have had their JV in the game after CW's 10-0 run to start the 3rd, but at the same time, CW had only one senior on the floor at the time of the timeout. The other four on the floor were 3 sohomores and 1 junior. Remember, CW is basically still a JV team with only 2 seniors getting significant time right now. 2 freshmen have been moved up to varsity. Maybe it was a JV game from the 3rd quarter on, but it looked like a pretty good JV game from where I was sitting. Both group of young players were playing hard. I can see why Jones does not play some of his older kids. From the second period on thru the first 2 minutes of the 3rd=NO defense from Sycamore's varsity. The big Freshman was playing his tail off on defense (8 blocks) and the Lohin kid (freshman point) was scoring well. Sycamore's young kids were diving for loose balls. When you quit a program once because things do not go your way, it becomes easier to quit next time, especially at crucial times on the floor. Jones, do what you have to do. Good luck to Sycamore the rest of the way, also good luck to CW.
  21. Creek Wood Crazies. Have done a great job of supporting both the girls and boys programs. Creek Wood's student body is building pride in a second year school. I like it!!
  22. Creek Wood scored a huge win for the program last night with a 67-41 win against district foe Sycamore. Coach Taylor and his coaches have done a great job this year in building a program. 4 players scored in double figures last night for Creek Wood. Sycamore has 2 very talented Freshmen playing a lot of minutes-Austin Lohin and John Kinman. Kinman had about 8 blocks last night and Lohin ran the point. After being outscored in the 1st half last night, Creek Wood started the 2nd half with an 8-0 run that Sycamore could never recover from. Sycamore's young kids play HARD!!! Sometimes work ethic should be rewarded with playing time instead of talent. Just an opinion. Good Luck Sycamore the rest of the way.
  23. A starting guard has been sick and has missed the last 2 games and may miss tonight's big game against Dickson County. Also, 2 seniors that were logging big minutes decided that basketball was not fun anymore and quit the team this week. Now Coach Mullinicks can give the younger girls much needed minutes that will help come tournament time. CW's girls and boys are doing remarkably well for a second year program. They have already surpassed last years win totals after 5-6 games. Coach Mullinicks and Coach Taylor are doing a great job. Again, coachrop is the man on air! He might get out of coaching and be on 104.5 with George Plaster! Seriously, he does a great job. Jim Rome has nothing on coachrop! Good luck CWood. OUT!!!!
  24. The Beaubien's at DCA: Bob and Brian. Good coaches and even better men.
