  1. I had forgot that stone played a Jv schedule the first year, 06 I believe. So this means that stone has not won a varsity game except against the other team from Cumberland County, and the whole county has only won one game outside of cumberland county in 3 years. So the county record for the last 3 years is 2 and 46 going into this game. WOW!!. What needs to be done to fix this problem. I haven't seen them play this year, but I have checked some stats for the last couple of years. CCHS closest score is 14 points for the last 3 yrs. except for the win against White. IS the talent that low or just not very physical or what, Are they prepared, is there an off-season program. Stone is getting outscored about 6 to 42. CCHS statistically is playing better defense but has a hard time scoring as well. In the late 70's and early 80's CCHS was always very physical.(moved and haven't been able to see them play very much). Is that not the case anymore for the kids from Cumberland County? Just going by stats CCHS 21, Stone 7
  2. Got to mention Trousdale County. I'm an atmosphere guy. When trousdale was at the top of the heap there was not a more intimadating place to play. The town empties and makes a great high school atmosphere. Probably not the best facilities but what a great tradition and atmosphere!
  3. Sounds like they had some people that just wanted to be on the team and not really play football. Football takes alot of grit and character and when the going gets tough it doesn't necessarily build character it reveals it!! Sounds like the true character of some showed up.
  4. I like rockwood. No doubt Harriman wants to win really bad, but I think character eventually wins out and I think night in and night out rockwood has more discipline. But the talent gap is not as bad as its been the last eight years, Harriman has closed it down. Rockwood by 7
  5. Is this the year that region 3-5a gets past region 4-5a. Oakland just barely got by coffee and seem to be the team to beat in reg. 4. cookeville got past coffee pretty easy and lincoln got past riverdale. I know its hard to compare, but it seems to me that this is the best chance they will have. Could we see Cookeville or lincoln in the semis with a chance to get to murfreesboro?
  6. It is definitely a political ploy, but it does nothing but hurt the already struggling athletics in Cumberland County. If no practice how are these teams supposed to be prepared when and if they do resume the season. They want the community to get in an uproar to make the commisioners pass the budget. The coaches will be the ones to pay because both football teams are struggling if they don't have success this year its possible both jobs will be open, but they are not given the opportunity to prepare their teams with the no practice allowed and the season 13 days away.
  7. How did roane county teams do in their scrimmages on Fri.
  8. Did he just quit coaching or did he go somewhere else?
  9. Didn't cookeville win the region? they weren't very impressive but still won the region! I don't expect Joslin to have two down years in a row. Joslin unimpressive but still reg. champs. He'll be above average this year. cookeville wins region without being challenged. Lincoln second with maybe coffee challenging them. Franklin 4th with maybe a challenge from Warren, Cumberland nowhere to be seen.
  10. How did the tiger look fri. against stone?
  11. Does anyone know of a site that has pictures of spring fling. Maybe ones you can order. I noticed there were alot of photographers around. any help is appreciated.
  12. Is the guy at smith county both the principal and head coach? Maynord?
  13. I've remained silent on this subject for a while, but as a former jet who had kids coming up through the system and keeping up with it i decided i wasn't going to allow my kids to be drug down by this community and its attitude on sports so I moved away but continue to keep up with them. I had rather not say where I'm at now but its amazing the difference in the attitude of the people involved. Let me say it's not the coaches. You guys have had some pretty good coaches there that have went on to some win alot or came from winning. That place is a coaching graveyard. Dennis webb was a national championship coordinator at carson newman and managed one winning record, Mark Pemberton won about 75% of his games at rockwood before cchs and went 2-8 there. He now coaches one of the powerhouses in 3a who had done nothing until he got there (catholic) The guy from georgia (pack?) had a tremendous resume before coming to cchs and went 2-8 while a jet. Wattenburger won as many games in 9 years as they had in the previous 16 or 17 and tied cookeville for a region championship,. take two really bad years off his record and he would have a winning record while at cchs. but the people would not listen to those guys and all of them got tired of beating their head against the wall. Shultz has an impressive resume as a coordinator from georgia, but they'll end up running him off too.
  14. I'm picking kingston. Percentages are in my favor. What is the series record?
  15. great win for rockwood. gives them the inside track at a playoff spot.
  16. I've never heard anyone justify why they aren't very good like people in cumberland co. They always have an excuse of why this happened or why that happened. The other day it was because we don't have our own fieldhouse. There are a bunch of schools that would kill to have your facilities. Go to Kingston and look at their facilities, or Bearden, or knox central, etc... Were scott counties facilities better than yours? If I saw correctly. the kid that u said was hurt played the whole second half. your quarterback didn't have anything to do with giving up 28 pts.
  17. I think with warren co being 2-0 and franklin co. 0-2 that it helps franklin. I believe that warren's kids think they are pretty good and probably wont be as mentally sharp because of it. I think britton will have their attention and kinda take on a wounded animal mentality or backed into a corner mentality and come out mentally sharp and very aggressive. Having said that if warren gets an early lead look for doubt to set in for franklin. franklin by 8
  18. coach king has won to many games to underestimate them. once you get a taste for winning you find ways to compete.
  19. Didn't Pemberton coach at cumberland county in the late 80's early 90's. if so what was his record and how long did he stay.
  20. The mercy rules saves stone from the embarrasment of 100. To chokeonaloaf, do you really think playing a jv schedule compares to a varsity schedule. If you think you played people's varsity last year and won 8 and you have everybody back then you should win at least 8 this year according to your logic. If i'm not mistaken you played scott co. last year and beat them so you should blow them out this year?
  21. I know I'm going to get the typical response that we need a new coach, but here goes. What is the problem with wartburg? Is there any size that's willing to play. Is there any speed? Is there or has there ever been a good off-season program and if there was are the players willing to work to win. This is to all the players: you usually reap what you sow!
