This is interesting if accurate. The box score on the Yonge-Urspring has a quarter by quarter scoring report & it has the second quarter scoring as 0-0.If accurate the final is PK Yonge,FL 70,Urspring,Ger. 52
New Orleans Holy Cross 34,Sullivan South 31
A lot of the teams are having very poor first quarters.I guess it takes a while to calm down.Sullivan South trailed 11-2 after the 1st quarter.
I hope this isn't an annual type event for you.I wish Humboldt could go out & play in different tournaments but we get stuck in the county tournament every year.Humboldt will beat the Gibson County-Bradford winner by 30 in the semis & will beat the Trenton-Milan winner by 15+ in the championship game.I'd like to see the Vikings in the Dyersburg tournament but the school admins wouldn't think of it.
Willie Kemp's mother's health had a lot to do with his signing with Memphis. It'll be interesting to see how Calipari uses him next year when Derrick Rose comes in.Rose has made it clear that's he's heading for the NBA after his freshman year.
The latest poll at unapproved website has Liberty #14 & they where #28 going into the City of Palms tournament. They are unranked in the USA Today poll.
You're right about Liberty not really being undefeated. It just shows what a bad idea it is that you can count your Hall of Fame game on your record if you want or don't count it if you lose.
After last year's 2-8 mark I've been skeptical about the Vikings this year but the dismantling they did against Lexington has convinced me they're for real.
Humboldt 27
Peabody 13
Humboldt was really down last year going 2-8 and they've already matched their win total in two games.Adrian Donald is going to be fun to watch this year & Keith Wardlow is doing a good job running the offense. This week they travel to Lexington so we'll see how they deal with playing on the road.
Congratulations to the Rebels on their championship.I'm happy to see the level of baseball in West TN remains high throughout the area. There was very little interest when I was in school & it's great to see area teams playing at the highest level.
Somewhere down the road a team is going to go 0-10 on the field but get a forfeit victory & make the playoffs at 1-9.Up until the early '80's each class had 16 districts & only the district champions made the playoffs.
Freed Hardeman had a terrific season. They only played 6 players & having to play on 3 straight nights caught up with them in the quarterfinals. When your first round game is on Wednesday, like Union's,you never have to play more than 2 straight nights & it's a big advantage. Here are the TN HS players on Union's roster.
Meridith Richardson Bradford
Jennifer Henson Bradford
Molly York Wayne County
Tiffany Fisher Jackson North Side
Crystal Eason Scotts Hill
Peggy McCain Dyer County
Monica Elliott Memphis Ridgeway
Laura Mitchell Memphis Briarcrest
Natanya Smith Memphis Oakhaven
Whitney Tate Shelbyville
Latorya Fuller Jackson Central-Merry (redshirted)
The main target in recruiting is Jessica Bobbitt of Trenton Peabody.
Chester County was ice cold in the third quarter. They only scored 4 points until Thomas hit the shot at the buzzer.
Chester County is up 33-23 going into the 4th.
Congrats to Peabody & USJ for giving us a all West TN final in A.I didn't get to listen to the USJ game but the announcers made it sound like Clarkrange let it get away.I did listen to Peabody & it was total dominance from the start.I think Peabody will win tomorrow but I'm thrilled at the WT final. As I write this Bolivar is down 36-20 so the prospects of a all West Tn AA final aren't good.
