  1. Expect between 8-11K fans with about 6K siting. I could be wrong about the number of seats. Maybe someone who knows the "BlackHole" better can speak to the real number of seats. Officially the "BlackHole" seats 8,100. The home side seats 7,000 and the visiting bleachers seat 1100. This is according to the 1999 Season Guide. I have never been to a Maryville game where the home side was anything but full. I have been all over the state and to many high schools in the country and I still feel like Maryville has the best facilities. I hate track's around football fields, and the home stands in Maryville are right on the field, it gets loud!!!! And the 12th man at Maryville is the fence on the visitors side, don't end up a victim of it.
  2. Most anticipated game in State History... Imagine if it was Carl Stewart and Ralph King taking the field , but this will be a nice game, it will bring a huge crowd to the "Roy Kramer Father of the BCS" field. Can't wait for this one.
  3. Lee Bristol Pick 6!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! 4th Quarter 35-14 Maryville!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Block in the Back Farragut.
  4. Public Private debate is old and has its own board, but I hope these guys and their families are treated well in the community, and that they do not wander to far up the road and end up in Cosby or Newport.
  5. I'll tell you one thing these teams share in common, Bill Bates and Mike Casteel both got TRUCKED by Hershel Walker in that Georgia game.
  6. I like this post. This is going to be a smashmouth game. Clock control is a must, it is too deep in the playoffs to got out and assume you will score a bunch of points. Both teams know each other and will have fixed previous mistakes come game time. I also expect FHS to bring a big crowd, MHS and FHS have long histories of playing meaningful playoff games in other sports i.e. basketbal, soccer, baseball, softball, even swimming, and I think this is just the icing on the cake. The run game will be super important, FHS will not let MHS throw it on them. Whoever can keep the ball longest and gain more on the ground wins. MHS 24 FHS 17
  7. This is garbage. For TN to be seen as even close to other states in terms of football strength then we must have representatives at these prestigious events. Coach Quarles being selected to coach here is huge and for TSSAA to stand in the way is completely out of order. They are like the Soviets keeping their best gymnist out of the olympics just because. I live in Hermitage maybe I should go speak to TSSAA.
  8. That is fine and dandy, but Maryville has not played either of these teams because they were in different classifications, so every time Maryville made it to state, they were at the hotel celebrating while either of these teams hit the field. I think the last time Maryvlle played a Rutherford Co. team was Smyrna back in 97 or 98.
  9. Maryville Rebels 41-0, it has begun...hide your children.
  10. You're absolutely right ... I do understand what it's like to lose. Most folks do. And some handle losing better than others handle winning. Yeah GREY.....Like Gov-Man sed eye like tha way Will-Yum Blunt handles winnin'......My fav wuz back inn '99....... You wouldn't be talking about those 6 downs they got in the end of the game would you? Or Armstrong falling down when he was wide open and Maryville's ghost man getting called for pass interference would you? Nahhh, you couldn't be talking about them stealing Maples helmet or that dumb bonfire...what am I thinking!!!
  11. Careful you don't want to start the infamous public/private debate circa 1997, but 3 classes that seems small I like the 5 class system. I live next door to TSSAA and I think I might go over and talk to them.
  12. Blame this guy Oak Ridge Cat (O.R.C.) Well, him and Oak Ridge's finest son/former footbal coach who provided the color commentary..... Blame the ghost of Kee Kee Houston's touchdown spike on the 5 yard line.
  13. The 5A playoffs are merely the NIT to the 6A's "November Madness"
  14. Both teams have had tough games this season, Bartlett is okay, but never count out Melrose even at 6-4. Premro Smith and Marlon Jerome Goodwin have tought us that boys out of Orange Mound can always find a way to make it. P.S. Two fingers round, three fingers down, whats your favorite color (orange) and where you from (mound).
  15. Isn't this great!!! It's all the big boys from the old 4A and 5A now all in the hunt for the new 6A trophy...awww, how sweet will it be to be the first 6A State Champs in TN history...and probably the only this system is jacked up.
  16. quote] We have got just as many as any team on the field in 6A With one exception...I have been watching TN high school football for a while now and one thing that has remained constant over the last....10 years is Kingsport's ability to dissapoint. How many times has DB gone into the playoffs 10-0 and been bounced right out. What about the time DB went into the playoffs #1 in the state and got eliminated by a raggedy William Blount team. DB has great history...but history can oly go so far. We'll see friday, but I do not believe the rebels will be out after the first round.
  17. The nostalgia alone in the game is amazing, Maryville and KPDB...goodness!!!! Its like Sinatra on stage with Bing Crosby!
  18. Boy that was a hectic time, I remember some serious debates on Knoxville News satiations back then.
  19. After all the years of debating, all the years of public v. Private, all the talk about 4A V. 5A....its all here. Now you have the big boys from old 4A and 5A all in together now! You get the following: Maryville, Farragut, Oak Ridge, Ooltewah, Riverdale, Oakland, Germantown, Kingsonportn, and other together, this great. Now we will see who is the King of Kings. How great will it be to be the first 6A state champ in TN Hisotry....just like the ole boys started going to 3A...then 4 & 5A...TN football keeps growing, how beautiful.
  20. This will be a good game for the back ups to get some stats in....I know some Maryville Families with weekend houses down in the LC area on the lake, any good bar b ques planned after the game?
  21. I would pay good money for a copy of the Daily Swipe article with the 4 horsemen that ran the week of the WB-MHS game in '98. LOL, the Daily Swipe, classic. I forgot about that Article, they really tried to make them look hardcore. Man that was good stuff, that was back in the times of Chip Cirillo and Tennesseepreps.com, and all the bad info about kids signing to play football at Pellissippi State.
  22. I find it amusing that an Ooltewah fan bringing up the missed extra point in 2007. I never saw a bigger highway robbery than what William Blount got at Ooltewah in 2006. I watched the playback and everytime William Blount got something going out would come a flag. It upset announcers Holden Lail and Mike Treadway so much they turned down their mikes. Don't throw stones in glass houses. LOL Amen, Ooltewah is the absolute pits anyway, not even bridesmaids just ushers! William Blount Maryville is always a heated game, I remember the 98 game with Mike Fikert and the finger, and the 99 game when WB got 6 downs when Maryvilles 12th defensive ghost got called for a pass interference. WB seems to be on a down hill slide and this game will not be close. WB I will say the seniors always get a cool group picture...but thats about it. P.S. Do kids in Blount County still go to Applebees after the games?
  23. Wow this is heated....Good Job Rebs!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Herschel Walker'd old Billy Bates Admirals...right guys, * wink* *wink*
  24. Talking about George............George Williams said FBE did not give him a ride either? Figure he wants ALL the pressbox vitals for himself? Is that the George Williams I'm thinking about? I heard he finally went to the barber shop. Anyway, I hope Maryville beats on "Billy Bates West Side Vocational Learning School for the Financial Sound" really good, I couldn't stand them in school and loved the MHS V. FHS bball games. I'll be watching it on line with a rum and coke here in Hermitage...home of the TSSAA.
