  3. She had a bruised neck and they are being very cautious with her because of the proximity of the injury to her spinal cord. They are hopeful for a return after Christmas. She is only a freshman.
  4. Just found out - gates open at 5:15 tonight. 7:00 kickoff.
  5. Just go to www.utsports.com and click on the men's basketball roster. He is a walk-on, so there is not a big bio on him, but I'd say he's on the roster. Congratulations - it's always good to see West TN athletes succeed.
  6. Humboldt at Middleton on Tuesday night 11/14
  7. Good call football guru. Good thing Kelsey isn't available or imagine what kind of havoc would have been bestowed upon the Lions' D. 220 yards on only 21 carries for Adrian. An untimely fumble in the 4th probably kept him from his fourth TD and 250 yds.
  8. Coach Bridges is hanging around for one more at Ripley.
  9. Games were played last night in West TN. In 13AA, Dyersburg defeated Crockett Co. 10-2 to advance to the region and Union City defeated Lake Co. in District 14A to win the winners' bracket. Both of these games were played in Union City.
  10. Actually, the games are being played at Peabody High School in Trenton, which negates the nice field comment. The 13AA district is being played in Union City, which IS playing tonight.
  11. Also, you can look at the district's website. The regular season stuff was hard to keep up with - a lot of smaller, rural schools that don't report their scores a lot - but the tournament stuff will be kept up-to-date. Go to the following link: District 14 A
  12. I didn't figure this one would get so much argument since (in my mind) it was "fair"ly obvious (pun intended).
  13. 16. Baltimore Orioles AA was as high as he reached. Don't forget pitchers like Howard (JCM), Garner (JCM), King (Ripley/Lambuth), Turnbow (Hardin Co.), and Harville (Hardin Co.) from West TN though. That's not even counting Memphis.
  17. Any updates here? My TSSAA pop-up is stuck on 5:35 left with a 64-60 score.
  18. First off, there is not a set number of students you have to fall in to be in a particular class. Once all of the enrollment numbers are turned into the TSSAA, then it is simply divided into thirds (fifths for football). If you fall in the bottom 1/3, then you are in Class A, the top 1/3 you are in Class AAA, everyone else is in Class AA. Second, there is no way Humboldt has 534 students. Try about 440 and Union City is definitely below 400 (as is McKenzie and Riverside who also dropped down, but no one is crying because they're not in Murfreesboro). Finally, the multiplier rule established to effect the private schools probably made the difference in Humboldt being Class A - they were on the border between the two classes. Union City, on the other hand, would most likely have dropped anyway (they're even class A in footbal now as well). Just pray the multiplier doesn't increase past 1.8, or you'll really fill up CoachT boards in the future with complaints.
  19. Just a quick side note on Toylon. He is the kind of player a coach dreams about when it comes to the mental side of the game. When he's playing a game Humboldt wins by 30, he might not have 8 points - he lets the players who care about their stats do the scoring. But when you turn the heat up, he takes the game over - just ask Tyler Smith and Giles Co. from last year. You can ask Raleigh-Egypt for that matter. They beat Humboldt by 15 in the state tournament last year - Joe Shivers and Kelsey Rose were non-factors, while Toylon had 30. It's been a pleasure to watch this young man the past four years - I hope a quality college program has the brains to scoop him up.
  20. Don't forget to mention the feeder program. Coach Tori Liggett has slowly built the junior high program there into a power - undefeated this season!
  21. Who was the District MVP? Weddle, I assume?
  22. Correct me if I'm wrong, but I believe there was a link to someone's site last year that provided the brackets and updates from each district tournament around the state. Does anyone know where to find that?
